["Don't pay attention to it. I didn't even know that," Michigan junior tight end Ian Bunting said of the national championship odds] Is this not a perfect example of the Observer Effect?

This roster has 5+ TEs that are going to play in the NFL. It's going to be a fun position to watch develop over the next few years.

"We're tighter, cleaner," Bunting said. "We had a year to practice everything. Second year with the same program you just keep building from where you left off and where we left off is now the new benchmark to build off of."

I like that approach and it seems like it is less popular in football that it should be, the attitude that last year is merely the current year's baseline and your goal is to make the following year's baseline just that much higher. It's difficult to maintain because of players coming into and going out of the program, learning curves, and so forth, but if you can manage something like, there's very little you cannot do as a program, I would think.

Harbaugh has done a great job of teaching his players what to say and what not to say in the media.  His mantra of constant improvement has permeated the team.  Besides, nobody on the team is going to be allowed to be satisfied with a year in which they lost to both Sparty and OSU.

Harbaugh's best strength may be his ability to inspire favorites to work like underdogs.

I agree with your message, but it's hard to picture many non-UM homers to pick UM as a favorite in The Game, especially when it's in Columbus and we haven't won there in what, 13 years?

I see OSU losing to Oklahoma and maybe UM, but that's about it.  They're still win 10 games in the regular season.  They don't play Iowa and I don't see PSU, Nebraska, or MSU beating them.

To be fair, wouldnt every player at every school say this. What do you expect -- like anyone would ever say "Well I was gonna go do some lifting today, but see we are 7-1 faves so I was like screw that I'm good enough.". I mean, this isnt news. Nothing to see here. And for the record, its one player.

If any of you want to think this article ahows we are better than other teams, take off the rose colored glasses. I cant imagine an RR ot BH player would hVe said anything different. (Not that we were ever 7-1 odds under those regimes.)

This same headline has been written every off season for every team with even a glimmer of talent and hope. And for the teams without talent or hope? "_______ not paying attention to detractors" Never change, sports journalism. Summer needs fluff.
