NBA news: Former Thunder Mitch McGary is now a competitive bowler

Mitch McGary

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Mitch McGary play in a meaningful basketball game. After all, he’s been out of the NBA since 2016, when the Oklahoma City Thunder waived him in October of that year. But even before that, he’s rarely seen action, largely because the NBA suspended him for multiple games because of a failed drug test.

With no NBA team knocking at his door as of the moment, McGary chose to get high on something else: bowling. Correct, the 6-10 former Michigan Wolverine star has brought his athletic skills to the bowling alley, per Johnny Gorches of the Chicago Tribune

He's just a guy who bowls in a league and has one series over 700 with a 195 average.  This is on what is known as a "house shot," on which professionals who actually make money average at least 235 and closer to 245.  That is a 700 series pretty much every time they bowl.  He's not bowling in any tournaments.

He's a "pro bowler" like French Fries are "French."

We'd all like to see what he could have been at the top of his game but some people go a lifetime and never seem to find happiness. Some find a lot of money, some just the opposite, but anyone with some years on them will tell you if you have your house paid for and are content, you are way ahead of the game and fuck what others may think.

than the Ricky Williams "vision quest" when he left the NFL. Gotta root for someone that finds something that really makes them happy, and pursues it. Good for him...
