Mitch McGary Moment (edit):

Submitted by MaizeMN on

Just under an hour until the Madness resumes,so I was rewatching the highlights from the VCU dismantling. I kept replaying the McGary pick that destroyed/annihilated the VCU kid.

I'm pretty sure the first thought he had was, "did anyone get the number of that truck?"

I know this because, once during a pick-up BB game, I forgot I was playing outside and introduced my face to the basket support while attempting a finger-roll lay-up. Result: bad.

Yes, I suck at basketball.

My question is: what is the hardest you've ever been hit and can you create a meme or GIF to memorialize the McGary "Stonewall" moment?

1. He hit him so hard his children will need dental work...

EDIT: changed the title for clarity and to pay homage to Al Jolson and James Cagney.

Was when I was at a local football camp when I was a freshman. It's was mostly just the local public schools players abd our schools (I went to a small private school). I did the receiver and db drills. I've always been pretty cocky, think I can cover anyone, run a 4.65 - 4.7 40 which people don't realize is faster than 80% of people you will encounter. We did some 7 on 7s and I was lined up against this guy who was a senior and going to Purdue as a tightend. He was like 6'4 230. We were lined up in the outside and I basically get thrown to the side, fall down, guy scores, etc. well nex time through because we are rotating spots I get in at a safety spot and he's on the outside again, he runs about a 7 yard slant and I just come flying in leading with my helmet right into his. I was about 5'8 150 pound at the time, I didt break anything or dislocate anything but my right arm went numb, abd I had this blurry circle in my vision for about a half hour after I got up. I don't think he even fell, I don't really remember...

My junior year of high school football, I played left guard in a very pull heavy offense (pretty every other run play, I was pulling). That year, we played Saginaw. That Saginaw team featured a senior outside linebacker named Lamar Woodley. The target for pulling guards is normally OLBs and ends. I'll let you use your imagination from there.

My freshman year I played running back. I was a big kid, about 5'11 and 180 pounds. I made it my goal in practice to run over every linebacker on the team and I talked shit all day. So one time I got the handoff on a speed sweep, came around the edge and this small kid was standng there, and I knew he hit hard but I put my head down and ran right into him. Then next I remember I was in the hospital with a concussion. My friends told me that we both stood straight up after the hit, and we fell, and the kid actually hit me so hard that my pants fell off! I've never been so hard in my entire life.

One of my best friends wasn't the greastest dribbler. The ball got too far in front of him in an intramural game. He ran faster and faster trying to control it, while leaning further and further forward. He hit the wall with his head down and knocked himself out cold.

The hardest I was ever hit was when there was a fumble in the open field and I bent down to try to pick it up on the bounce.  The middle linebacker ran head-on into my lowered head, and it took some time for the stars to disappear.  I probably would have been yanked from practice if it were here in 2013, but this was before the relatively recent uproar about concussions.

my first year of football i was an undersized 14 year old playing in a local summer league against guy who were up to 18 years old (i have a late birthday).

It was our last game and a lot of guys were injured so i was filling in at middle linebacker. On a play late in th game i moved up to fill my gap on a run play and met the other team's 64" fullback. All i rememmber is getting a panoramic view of the sky and snot flying out of my nose. I then wobbled to the sideline and threw up everywhere. Not fun.

relatively close to this play.

I was chasing after a puck that was going to be called icing if I didn't touch it in time and right before crossing the goal line I was hit from behind. My facemask broke my fall at full speed and I can't remember much from the night other than standing in the locker room and not being allowed to drive home.

Hardest I've ever hit something is a bit different. In middle school I collided skate on skate with an opposing player and ended up buried in the boards three feet away, while I'm told the momentum slid him to the other side of the ice. I completely seperated my left shoulder in addition to having smaller muscle tears in my back. That was also by far the worst I've ever had the wind knocked out of me, which was not fun; on one level I was telling myself to calm down because it was just the wind getting knocked out and on another I was convinced I'd die.

I was playing White against iChessPro and taking on the Scillian Dragon variation when the Black KingsideKnight vaulted over my pawn structure and took out my Queen side bishop without compensation. I had bile in my mouth after that play. Six moves later I resigned.

I was the half back and our center got the snap count wrong and ended up being the only olineman ready to block. The QB being a QB quickly handed me the ball off with 3 Dlineman coming at me. Knocked my helmet off and didnt get up for 5 minutes...

1.  Playing the windsor spitfires in their stadium (1979) and i hustled back to break up a near break-away.  i got there, but we all went sliding into the net and that was back in the days when the nets were pegged on big pegs.  the next i remember was the trainer leaning over me and i'm stuffed way in back of the net and he's asking me if i'm okay.   i remember my dad waking me up every hour that night - that was the 'protocol' for concussions back then.        2,  Playing LAPD in football, i'm the tight end.  our quarterback throws what we commonly called a 'medicine ball' and though i catch it, i pay the price.  i am hit by LA's safety who had played for the new orleans saints the season before.  we go to the ground and he says to me, 'shit! you caught the ball.  nice catch!'.   i am barely able to breath at this point and say 'nice hit' and run off the field.  TV cameras follow me and the announcers comment on the catch.  meanwhile my teammates are asking if i'm okay and i'm telling them to not f-ing touch me, let me breath.

Hardest I've ever been hit was when I was playing for an All-Ohio Senior team... It was a practice and I was an OLB at around 6'0 170. The offense threw a jailbreak screen and the receiver caught it but when he went to tuck the ball he fumbled somehow.. not sure how but not important. I ran into the flats and scooped the ball around the hash and looked up to see some HUGE D1 tackle 2 feet from me. Before I could react he hit me and I flew from the hash to the sideline. It felt like it anyway.

One of those hits where you pop right up after to act like it didn't suck.
