Mitch McGary to announce decision on Thursday
After seeing the Fed Ex ad for AAAAAAAA Auto Repair
oops, hit send too soon. After seeing the Fed Ex ad, I laugh when reading your blog name.
Perfect timing. I literally just finished watching the fab 5 documentary.
I've been trying to catch it for my DVR for awhile now and it never seems to be on...
How is stating that I want the DVD for Christmas "overrated"? It was on topic and in the subthread of wha the discussion was about.
Can anyone explain?
over the weekend.
I am a major proponent of "one recruit doesn't mean that much," but McGary could be THE recruit who makes it "cool" for top-10 players to sign with Michigan again. This story, if it happens, would be big enough that it could make the basketball team's recruiting class actually look better than that of the football team.
Every source out there is saying it is Michigan too. Amazing recruiting job by the staff if it turns out to be true.
Have a good gut feeling. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
things can change obviously, but there's literally no one reputable out there at the moment saying anything other than "it's going to be Michigan."
People don't like hearing good news anymore?
believers. Leave those who don't believe,to what they do best...
in years (a few years after the second mini fab five came and went) but it he signs for UM I will be picking it back up. I have watched it a bit the past few years since coach B came along, but this would give me all I need to follow it as relentlessly as football. Go Blue Mitch!
Honestly, this team is going to be really good even if we don't get McGary. They're fun to watch, and just as root-for-able (should be a word.) as the football team.
My F5 key should probably be worried.
Time to release the F5's?
Besides left, left of the Mrs. Sippi, left on the political spectrum, any insider infomation on his latest lean?
Sorry, a little late!
Everyone seems to say Michigan.
Fingers crossed that he plays his home games at Crisler......tendons be damned, they shall remain crossed.
Cannot wait till Thursday! I think it's going to be great news. This 2012 class is already awesome but with McGary it would be amazing.
Would be a class that any school in the country (except maaaaybe Kentucky) would look at and say "Yup. That works for me."
...top five when its all said and done!
Buckle. The F. Up.
If Mitch McGary picks Michigan on Thursday I will be soooooooo happy.
will be insane.
I can appreciate a good Craig Tucker reference.
I can also appreciate a good post player.
That will be one sick lineup if we pull this off. Burke, Brundidge, Hardaway, Mcgary and Morgan. Not to mention Glen Robinson III coming off the bench.
What about Smotrycz as a Jr?
Assuming Hardaway doesn't go pro after this season. I hope he doesn't, but he might...
Also add Smotrycz to that list. Basically our 2012 team will be amazing if Mcgary commits.
I don't think Hardaway will go pro after this season. It's a bad year for it. Last year, with the lockout hanging over the NBA, some didn't leave for the draft. Might as well stay, THJ.
when I didn't want him at Michigan. I was an idiot. Go Blue, Mitch McGary, Go Blue.
Me on Thursday
Needs moar f5.
*all of us on thursday :)
I sure hope he comes to Ann arbor, then Payton signs with hoke and then yuri wright would make it a great week
FWIW, McGary is listed as high interest for Michigan and medium interest for all other schools.
But it also says it was last updated 1 September.
It's been updated. Florida, Duke, and Michigan all listed as high interest

Jetpack bitches
"After watching that crazy ass dude in the jetpack land in the Big House, I knew which school I wanted to play basketball for." -MM
Mitch McGary the decision will be on ESPN Thursday.
"Next fall I'll be taking my talents to East Stadium."
His decision will air on a show beginning at 5:00 PM on ESPNU.
You better be right Bouncing Bobby Hill. Mitch could be our biggest recruit since Chris Webber.
GO BLUE!!
Ward was the #1 overall recruit back in 1995. People keep forgetting Ward
Ward is unforgettable. Coming out of high school, he could hit 3-pointers with equal accuracy with his right or left hand. As turned out, he continued that trend in college -- about 20%. He was supposed to be the next Scottie Pippen -- unfortunately he was the Scottie Pippen who played after MJ retired
"He scores like we breath".
COUGH COUGH COUGH
But he was really more Benard King, after the knee surgery. Because man, that kid couldn't stay healthy. (I was going to say "couldn't get a break", but he probably had one of those over his career).
until I hear from Ace Williams
started on what that guy had to say earlier. The other Ace Williams came on 247 and put his thoughts on Zach Banner. I keep forgetting that we have two Ace William's. One who knows what he is talking about and the other.....well, i have no clue why he even exist.
The Ace here is Ace Anbender.
You my friend, win the most awesome pic in relation to the thread topic award.
Well done, very well done.
Buckled. Up.
(and saying prayers)
(with fingers and toes crossed)
GTFO my court
O for on?
I would trade my whole bag of Halloween candy for Mitch Mcgary. And I got TWO king size Butterfingers.
I will now have MITCH MC GARY, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP running through my head for the next 2+ days.
Maybe McGary's decision to go Blue sways Zach Banner to bring his talent to the gridiron and hardwood in Ann Arbor. Holy crap, what a team that would be.
Obviously crazy speculative but has a player ever won national championships in both major sports? Given our recruiting classes it wouldn't be completely out of the realm of possibility for banner and we would probably give him one of the better shots at it.
But I do believe that Charlie Ward was the closest. National championship in football for FSU, and his basketball team made it to the sweet 16.
I don't really want to go through and look, but the list of schools with titles in both sports goes like this:
Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio, Syracuse, UCLA.
So if someone has done that, it couldn't be at any other school.
Given the timing I would be surprised if it were not Michigan. If it dragged on longer I would be worried.
on ESPNU REcruiting Nation at 5pm on Thursday. The link below has some additional information that is very nice, but I will refrain from conveying such information due to any potential bad luck that I may bring about! Fingers Crossed!

Great Article, thanks for posting this! I can't wait till Thursday!
liveblog at 4:30?
I can has McGary?
This may not be a Fab Five-level class...but McGary sure is a Fab Five-Star recruit. You know what you need to do Mitch.
but from what I've read this has been a stressful process for Mitch and his family, so while fingers and other appendages are crossed for him to join the M Family, I'm also hoping his decision provides some welcome peace and quiet. Best wishes on your choice, young man.
Glenn Robinson III is his good friend, right? If so, that can only help us even more.
GO BLUE!!
Hey guys checkout this mini magazine I created to show Michigan's support for Mitch McGary.
Share it out, lets try to get Mitch to see it.

God I hope this happens...I will take such a hearty drink if we pick this guy up...
No one else knows this, because no one else is as much of a BBall junkie as I am. Yet, it is uber-awesome, and needs to be said.
MM was recruited by Coach B a LONG time ago, back when he was a '11 recruit. Yes, he was a '11 recruit, and not a highly ranked one at that. (I don't have a link, but ask Dylan from UMHoops.com. It was on there a few years ago.) Dook wasn't recruiting him, UNC wasn't recruiting him, heck, IU wasn't even recruiting him.
We all talk about how Coach B is an outstanding evaluator of talent. But let me put this into perspective. He picked:
2*s: Dougless, Novak
3*s: THJ, Robinson (at the time), MM (at the time), Buke (at the time), Morgan
I know I'm leaving a few out, but the point is made. Coach B knows both whom and how to recruit. The most important part is he knows how to coach talent in the offseason and during practice. He's simply one of the best coaches out there in recruiting.
Caveats: He hasn't picked up anyone big (yet.) Regardless, his classes have been getting better and better each and every year. (HT: espn) '12 will (dur) be the best one yet.
And in case you missed it: Coach B is a good recruiter, talent evaluator, and coach. That is all.
identifying talents before they explode. Smotrycz is a great example. THJ, GRIII are another example.
It's time to trust JB's evaluations if you haven't already by now.
some of the gravitas of a John Wooden, but a unique individual, too. Coolest thing about him: how open he is to his players' and assistants' ideas.
PLEASE PLEASE!
Right half of me: "It's too early you idiot!!!"
Left half of me: "I can't help it."
Right half of me: "What the fuck are you doing? It's 2011!!
Left half of me: "But what if..."
Right half of me: "---what if?! What if this right nut. There is no reason to be thinking of this!!"
Left half of me: "Do you think Hardaway will stay?"
Right half of me: "I can't believe you just asked that."
Left half of me: "Does GRob3 start as a freshman?"
Right half of me: "La la la...I can't hear you! La la la...I can't hear you!"
Left half of me: "But wait, listen!"
Right half of me: "I'm not listening!"
Left half of me: "Yes you are, you just answered!"
Right half of me: "No I'm ----"
Left half of me: *punches right half and knocks it out for 30 seconds*

It's not too early. All but one of those players have already committed. The future is bright regardless, but dang would that be a scary lineup with McGary.
I don't follow basketball closely that much anymore. Isn't McGary believed to be a "one-and-done" guy? How much of an impact could he have for UM in just one season?
Even if he is a one-and-done, it would be a huge boost for the 2012-13 year. With the team we have already and GRIII, Stauskas and McGary coming in, it wouldn't be unreasonable to call us a national contender.
McGary's a consensus top 5 recruit in the nation. He's also eligible for the 2012 draft if he wanted to enter and some people seem to think he'd be a top 5 pick there if he was inclined to be a part of it.
McGary would play a big part in making M bball relevant nationally again. Even if he left after one year, that perception wouldn't go away as quickly.
Recruiting one-and-dones is pointless. It's why Kentucky is such an irrelevant program
is it possible to get muppets for a committment?
It has been a good spell since we had a Hello post…. We’re due
It has been a good spell since we had a Hello post…. We’re due
Why couldn't he join after Christmas? If he's going to leave early anyway, why not see if he wants to play an extra semester?
