Minnesota Roll Call

Submitted by Walter Sobchak on

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Im sure all of us are greatly anticipating this weekends game.   My wife are making the trip out to Minneapolis from SE Michigan.   Anyone else headed out for the game?

Are most people staying downtown?

Any tailgaiting plans, or just hanging out in bars until the game?

I've got a buddy flying in from Indiana for the game--I live right near downtown so we were probably going to tailgate there all day and then catch a train/bus/uber over for the game.  Tailgating near the stadium is close to non-existent, it seems like

The only tailgating allowed near the Stadium is in a small handful of donor-only lots. The layout of the Stadium and campus really precludes a large tailgate scene, unfortunately. I'll be eating in Dinkytown.

Theoretically, a thriving food district can be a grea pregame scene even without tailgating. My recollection is that Cumberland Avenue in Knoxville is a fantastic place to be on Tennessee game days, for example.

We are staying downtown. We are actually planning to watch the Georgia-Florida game before but maybe in our hotel versus a bar since they sell beer at the game and we aren't used to that so we'll need to pace everything out...

Flying in on Friday afternoon and leaving on Monday morning.  Nice little extended weekend in the Twin Cities.

Not sure where our seats are yet, but seeing as we bought them through the UM ticket office I assume they'll be in the visitors section.  First time seeing a game in Minnesota, pretty excited to hopefully watch our boys hoisting the Jug again!

I am here and will be there.  Brother, his fiance, cousing and wife, couple friends of theirs will all be coming out here staying with us.  Plan is to find somewhere to tailgate around noon but that may change.  I think there's 10 of us all together.  Should be fun!

Here already! SInce I live here I'm tailgating with my Gopher lady, our Gopher friends, and her Gopher parents before the game. It's going to a lonely tailgate so I look forward to seeing all of the other Maize and Blue  folks!

if anyone needs any ideas of what to do before the game comment below and I'll be glad to help.

I will be there with my Nephew.  Looking forward to the game.  I hope it is a grand destruction of the gopher varmits.  I had to see the Jug at the MN state fair, displayed out in the open like they expected to keep it for a while.

Bring the Jug Home.

My wife and I are Minnesota residents, so we've had this game marked on our calendars for a long time. She got me "surprise" tickets for my birthday. The surprise is that I don't know where the seats are. I'm hoping we are with a bunch of Michigan fans!

I'll be there!  Does anyone with experience at TCF Bank Stadium know if they do patdowns, because I am planning on bringing a portable flagpole into the stadium.

I don't, but having been to a bunch of stadiums, I've never seen one that does, so I wouldn't be too worried at Minnesota, of all places.

If I were you I'd get there a little early, check to see if they're doing them, if so just walk back out to your car and if someone questions you say you forgot something.

I was at the Maryland game and loved the person who was waving the flag! Go Blue!!!

I am taking my two oldest daughters; first Michigan football game for the second one. We live in Duluth, so we'll drive down in the early afternoon and park in Dinkytown. I thought about tailgating and would love to do a full thing, but we have ministry responsibilities on Sunday morning and I can't afford the time to shuttle back to the fairgrounds after the game.

We'll probably eat at Five Guys or something.

The tough thing about meeting other Michigan fans at these events is that you can't just say "look for the guy in a Michigan Jersey" and have it mean anything.

We are tailgating at noon. The Minnesota fans that invited us call the location "the Mississippi River Gorge." It's a short walk to the stadium. They invited fellow Michigan fans. In addition, I have two extra tickets at face value ($60 in Michigan Section 202) in the Michigan section if you are interested.
