Just received an email saying it's a Maize out...
I really wish they would put the Maize Outs back on the tickets.
I'm in the same boat with you on this one. Meta, but if anyone can explain why we, as a fanbase, don't always wear more Maize I would appreciate it.
Blue and grey make for a dull crowd at the game. Maize everygame.
Intensity is a lot of guys that run fast.
How what color they wear makes the crowd dull.
As said below, our uniforms aren't maize, there's a lot less use for bright yellow clothes in general, and it's not exactly an intimidating color. They tried a blue out once against MSU, but it just kinda all blended together. It looks good on tv, but that's about it.

are pretty good on tv, as well.
Taking it one week at a time
it looks great when the fans have a unified color. look at a penn state white out crowd and tell me that's not impressive. when you see the rainbow of michigan stadium it looks like we're casual fans.
MICHIGAN FANS ARE NOT CASUAL FANS!!!
That is all
p.s. I'm durnk and you would not believe how may ties I had ot write that ot get it straight. Oooh, I did straight right...
You have to play this game like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four. ~Dan Birdwell
Man, when any team has a "Black Out"... yeesh. Just looks sad and dead.
My word choice may have been poor, so you're right about it not making a crowd 'dull'.
I just don't think it's too much to ask for our crowd to have a large majority wearing one color. Maize. Blue. Whatever - I was just agreeing that it's funny we have to denote a game for us to wear our most bold (boldest?) school color.
The student section is always so obvious because no one else can do anything consistent. I realize there's not much to do about it, I just think it's a funny necessity.
Intensity is a lot of guys that run fast.
It's pretty easy - because beyond the first few games it's probably 50 degrees or less at game time. Not many people own bright yellow sweatshirts or jackets.
OH-HOW-I-HATE OHIO STATE
Probably because that would keep people from wearing jerseys to the games since we thankfully dont have maize jerseys yet.
And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know, it's gonna be Michigan again, Michigan
It's hard to find maize jerseys, hoodies, jackets, etc. so I don't see how they could have every game be a maize out. I think they'd have better luck if they did something with blue, but that wouldn't show up as well on TV.
We tried a blue out once. 2005 Ohio State game, anyone?

All I remember from that game is water bottles, coins, and blacking out most of the first half. Sigh.
I already blue myself

And shouldn't you save the Maize for a team like Nebraska or OSU who won't be wearing yellow pants?
I think they have to do the maize outs in warm weather so people wear the t shirts.
edit: ND Sux said this below

ASU staged a "Blackout" to show off their all black Nike unis against Missouri. Note that black is NOT one of ASU's school colors, but IS one of Missouri's.
So, wait, is like, Arizona State, not smart or some junk?
Funny, use an outdated joke about a school you truly know nothing about. http://asu.edu/excellence/
ASU may not be Michigan or Notre Dame or even a UCLA but some of our programs are top notch.
It's not who you were or are, it's who you will be.
Some of EMU's programs are top notch too. I'm not ragging on ASU, but that's not really a great argument.
I know two girls from ASU that are very smart. One, who went to ASU for in-state purposes, is incredible at economic policy.
I know several other people that went to ASU because they wanted boobs, booze, or hot guys (or I guess an interesting combination of all three). You're not going to shake off your reputation as a party school on this blog. Or in most people's minds.
I thought that was strange too, but we did look awesome and it got our school excited about something.
Michigan with the maize outs in September look great. When it gets cold who the hell cares what you wear as long as your warm and showing off your team.
It's not who you were or are, it's who you will be.
Whats worse is Arizona State is in the middle of a desert, it was the beginning of September, and it was 102 degrees at kickoff. Clearly black is the color your fans should dress themself in.

In addition to putting it on the tickets, save it for big games, not games on BTN or against opponents who can't beat high school teams. Oh well.
don't count your chickens before they hatch!
Wasn't it George Perles who said, "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones before their eggs hatch?"
"Funny isn't it, how naughty dentists always make that one fatal mistake."

when it turns colder? All the M jackets and stuff comes in BLUE. Get a t-shirt three sizes too big and put it over your jacket?
"I promise you we would have walked to the University of Michigan." - Brady Hoke
Stop thinking like that, we'll have none of that around here, get back into your box.

You could always get yourself one of those full body suits in Maize. You know, the ones that have a hood that cover the head an face as well. There's always a few of those guys in the stands at every game, why not one more?
[EDIT: There's actually a website for these things! http://superfansuits.com/]
[EDIT AGAIN: Here you go!

I think the high on Saturday is like 59. Having to see the outline of some dude's dong is bad enough; I'll take a pass on rock hard nipples too.
I got a maize/yellow sweatshirt for this exact reason.
Mike Martin told me he loves me. My life is quite possibly complete.

will never work so long as the home jerseys are not maize. People understandably want to wear their jerseys to the game (or a coat, which are usually not maize).
NOTE: I do not want maize jerseys in any way, shape or form.
Every home game against a worthwhile opponent should be a Maize Out. No excuses. I'm sure plenty of you where blue attire to the game, as well. (Or even worse: gray.) Cut it out! Put on some maize and represent!

Penn State's white out against Ohio State in 2005. That was one of the hardest hitting football games that I ever saw, pads were exploding.

I liked their 2006 white out against us. People died.
This one showing by the PSU crowd is the reason that I still consider them to be the best fans in college football. The turnout in white was amazing. I still wonder if the AD paid the money to provide the shirts to fans (like U-M did with the pom-poms for the UTL game) . . .

Color me stupid, but I don't get it. Isn't the idea for students (and everyone else) to wear Maize to all games?
