Minnesota HC Tracy Claeys fires Offensive brain trust
Well, I guess Claeys didn't believe in staff loyalty and consistency like his previous boss, Jerry Kill.

Kill kept these guys on staff for 17 seasons; Claeys fired them the day after the season ended, and less than a month after being named permanent HC.

I'm interested to see if this leads to a Minnesota rennaissance, or just more Dilly Bars.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:09 PM ^
Going with dillybars
November 29th, 2015 at 10:12 PM ^
Why not both?
November 29th, 2015 at 10:45 PM ^
There can be no true Minnesota Renaissance without Dilly Bars.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:08 PM ^
Machiavellian.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:55 PM ^
Yes-this seems very un-Minnesotan.
November 30th, 2015 at 12:18 PM ^
Ski-U-Mah. Very much like this:
November 29th, 2015 at 10:08 PM ^
It's sort of a repudiation of Kill's management of his staff.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:08 PM ^
And there qb from LCC poljan decommits
November 29th, 2015 at 10:30 PM ^
Thats the best offer he had. The Toledo offer is solid, I guess.
November 30th, 2015 at 12:26 AM ^
I don't find it strange to decommit when the coaches that recruited you are gone.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:10 PM ^
power already went to his head.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:11 PM ^
Tim Brewster with an accent.
We won't see him again as we play Minnesota again in 2017.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:52 PM ^
Nah we'll see em next year in the B1G Championship game.
/s (except not really b/c other than NW who is better than Minny in the west? Wisky? Iowa loses a shit ton...)
November 29th, 2015 at 11:13 PM ^
At the rate the Big Ten has been changing, maybe we'll see another conference realignment before next season!
/s (to a a certain extent, at least)
November 29th, 2015 at 11:16 PM ^
So that's a thought. Because we don't play Minnesota in 2016, 2018, or 2019, would a win in the B1G Championship during those years be for the Little Brown Jug?
November 29th, 2015 at 11:31 PM ^
I'd say no, because technically, in some seasons, we could potentially play multiple games for the little brown jug if that were the case. It takes away the pride of winning the trophy when it can be won twice in a season, or can't be won in a season at all for that matter.
November 30th, 2015 at 12:50 AM ^
I think if we play twice in a season, there's the chance that the Little Brown Jug goes back and forth twice. Certainly if we only play once, it should be for the Little Brown Jug. Then again, this feels like arguing hypotheticals--I can't imagine them being in the B1G championship all that often.
November 30th, 2015 at 1:36 AM ^
Since playing Minnesota twice in one season would be a rare occurence, it would be like solar eclipse, and be remembered as the year with two Little Brown Jug contests.
November 30th, 2015 at 11:16 AM ^
This actually happened in 1926 for some reason. Maybe the centennial of that we'll see it again.
November 30th, 2015 at 12:20 PM ^
Hopefully we're guaranteed to play them once a year by then.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:11 PM ^
Won't go well.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:11 PM ^
Strange move when the theory for making Claeys the HC was to maintain continuity.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:11 PM ^
I shared it earlier, but you may want to add that information in your OP and into the title.

must not have aged well. No longer D1 material.
November 30th, 2015 at 1:38 AM ^
With all of these assistants being let go at this time, is it because it is more convenient for recruiting or for them to hook onto a new position?
November 29th, 2015 at 10:20 PM ^
Purdue doesn't want to pay the buyout clause to get rid of Hazell.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:23 PM ^
But what assistant is going to go there just to get fired next year when Hazell's buyout is more reasonable and he gets fired?
November 29th, 2015 at 11:01 PM ^
Greg Robinson? Too soon?
November 29th, 2015 at 10:35 PM ^
It is all starting to make sense how Iowa went undefeated through conference play.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:13 PM ^
He went 1-5 as head coach. I think something needs to change.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:17 PM ^
In this case I was because Kill had to retire...so it made sense. Not a fan with Illinois.
I would've waited until the end of the year to announce Claeys as the future coach. Let him finish the year and show what he's got. He failed - as you mentioned. Get someone new.
November 30th, 2015 at 9:03 AM ^
Except Minnesota has an interim AD and because of Kill's health issues they had language in Claey's contract that if Kill had to take leave or whatever, Claey's was the interim coach. Makes a lot of sense given this to make Claey's the head coach. Next AD will get to assess his performance.

are they serving in the Michigan dining halls?

If there are ice cream bars in the dining halls, i sure as hell haven't found them

But one more way OSU offeres a superior experience to its students.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:16 PM ^
At least that isn't Kill, as previously suspected.
November 29th, 2015 at 10:26 PM ^
Please tell me the Dilly Bar guy survived this shakeup.
November 29th, 2015 at 11:02 PM ^
Claeys is the Dilly Bar guy.
Unless you are referring to the guy who actually buys the Dilly Bars and brings them to the sideline. But I'm assuming that position is one of those "until you die" positions at Minnesota, so he's probably untouchable
November 29th, 2015 at 11:09 PM ^
I read that it was the sideline phone technician, not Claeys.
November 30th, 2015 at 8:25 AM ^
He is.
