Minnesota Gopher Version of "Frogger"

Submitted by UMAmaizinBlue on

Apparently Minnesota created a Gopher version of "Frogger" in anticipation of their match-up with TCU. As a gamer, the mechanics are awful, and the hitbox for the Horned Frogs and the Gopher are inconsistent. I give it a C-.

I'd like to see what they come up with for their game against Michigan, but given the wolverine's tendencies, it might be too violent for the kiddos.

You can play the game here.

burrowing rodent? A buck-toothed  furry frog?

Kermit mated with some rodent Muppet and this is the bastard offspring?  No wonder Miss Piggy dumped the philandering frog.

their game for Michigan should be the 1979 atari game "Adventure". in that game you navigate a labirynth to find a chalice (the brown jug) and return it to your castle before the dragons (UofM players) destroy you.

I think that was terrific.  But maybe I'm the absolute target audience for such a promotional stunt.  I remember playing frogger in my freind's garage in 1983.  Damn, those were the days.

Oh yeah, and I won the game, so...yeah.  I'm pretty proud of myself right about now.

Unfortunately the gophers could never live up to that hype. They haven't won the BIG since 1960.

I know, I attended both UMs (Michigan and Minnesota). I have the unforunate experience of seeing the golphers beat the wolverines in 1977 and 1986 in person. I claimed that I was prrobably the only person to do so.

Minnesota's football team has been OK at best, 7-4.

Now, when I attended, their Hockey team won the national championship and the basketball team won the BIG.

What a ridiculous nickname. Strikes fear in their opponents. There was a movement when I was a student in the mid 70's to change their name to the Timber Wolves. Unfortunately it never happened!
