Minnesota is up 6 on OSU
After taking MSU to OT in Breslin. Talented team that just needs a signature win. Glad we were able to take one from them at the Barn.
I hate you so much. OSU is going win now. Go to hell.
Jinxes TOTALLY exist guys.
Good thing INTERNETRAGE anti jinxes work too
Nope OSU lost. Coach hasn't been on Amir's dick enough.
Oh brother. If Minny holds on and wins this might the first time one of these "hey guys...something awesome is about to happen" threads actually turned out ok. Seems like they ALWAYS end badly for some reason.
FreddyMercuryHayes for this one; for the anti-jinx/jinx reversal.
I've been hesitant to give Minny too much credit (maybe it's their punchable coach) but they may just be legit.
BTW, what exactly is the purpose of the raised floor? Is it for sightlines?
I'm going to -1 you if ohio comes back to win.
No easy road wins in the B1G
Ohio is dropping like a rock. Also what does it say about us compared to MSU if they went to OT against these two teams and we beat Minnesota in regulation without McGary and Robinson iii?
It says nothing.
It says that we have a really good team, even without McGary.
If you could not use the transitive property...yeahhhh that'd be great.
I'm not endorsing the transitive property, but this game showed that Minnesota is really good. They looked really good.
We beat this really good team. That strengthens my belief that we are also a really good team.
I was actually talking about ThadMattasaGoblin
Transitive property doesn't work. But this does elevate our Minnesota win.
Minny up 11 with 2 minutes left to play. It's going to take from ever though there are 5 timeouts between the teams.
This would be nice for us if Minnesota could pull this off. Makes our win there look better. Plus, we get them at home too. Chance for a sweep.
Don't forget tp plus me if Minnesota hold on.
Ohio State was a top 5 team a week ago
ESPN says Minnesota is up 14 with 1 minute left ... sound right?
Ohio just plain isn't very good offensively. It sucks that we don't get to play them at home, but the trip to Columbus isn't unwinnable.
My god. Even when looking into the eyes of defeat, Aaron Craft continues to just amaze me. He just competes. I've never seen someone take an inbounds pass like that and dribble the ball with such determination.
Remember this gentleman: when we are all old, telling our children and grandchildren of days past, we can proudly say "we lived in the era of Aaron Craft."
Oh god, shut the hell up
is in the mail.
We won't have to tell our children or our grandchildren about the great Aaron Craft. I'm sure he'll still be playing as a 36th year Redshirt Senior or something and they can judge for themselves.
Usually an upvote is good enough, but in this case I have to respond. Absolutely well done sir. I'm dieing laughing. Thank you.
I loved his comment so much that I upvoted your comment about loving his comment.
Reminds me of a story. My dad and I were talking during one of 1st UM games and when Jordan Morgan's name was announced for whatever play, my dad, a sparty, started going on about how this was Morgan's 17th year/been there forever sort of rant. So apparently, someone out there thinks the same about Morgan.
It's definitely a compliment.
I'm going to name children after him, just because of his grit and hustle.
He should be remembered as the only player to ever play hard in basketball. The first in history, and surely never to be repeated. He is a true hero.
You and me both, buddy.
If I have a firstborn boy, I'll name him Aaron Craft. If it's a girl, I'll name her Erin Kraft. Any additional child I bring into this earth shall bear the name of Aaron Craft's greatest of traits, beginning with "Grit," "Hustle," "Determination," "Defense," and my youngest, "Handcheck."
at least her teenaged suitors will be forewarned.
You're on fire! Thank you for absolutely MAKING my Friday morning!
Ahhh yes "grit & hustle". Media euphemism for "white basketball player". Sort of like the old "Athletic or Dual Threat Quarterback" thing in reverse if you will.
Yep. What was Novak known for? Grit and hustle.
Also, for white quarterbacks you can't forget about "underrated athlete". Anytime some white QB scrambles for >3 yards it has to be mentioned.
" Great game manager" - White QB with noodle arm who can't run
Oh you mean Trent Dilfer
But to be fair - Novak really deserved that reputation. Dude was a 6'4" PF who had to work his ass off not to get pushed around in the post every night. And honestly, Craft deserves it too - he's a pest defensively.
Now to be sure, there are plenty of white guys who automatically get labeled "gym rats" or "coach's dreams" with no justification, but these two legitimately fulfill the stereotype.
What I find funny is when I heard Dustin Fox on 92.3 in Cleveland the other day claim Craft is the best PG in the country. That is laughable.
I played some pickup basketball with Fox. That dude has got some ups. And this is after he retired.
The OSU offense is horrendous, but don't worry, when we play them they will look the 96 Bulls.
That's the nagging feeling I have. They're waiting until they play us to get their act together.
Screw O-lie-O!!!! Go Blue!!!
Nice W for Minnesota. I'm glad Ohio is getting exposed as a fraud. That #5 ranking was BS.
This was expected IMO they were not looking very good winning in ridiculous fashion but to b fair the gophers r legit that win at Minnesota is looking better and better
Playing in Minnesota I figured it was an even money game. What was OSU favored by?
I'm sorry..Craft is nothing but average. Without superstar talent around him all this "hustle" means crap.
If anything hopefully his hype finally dies after this game.
Purdue seems to have a knack for those types of players, such as Brian "The Janitor" Cardinal.
It's not just hustle, he is a great defender. You don't have to score a ton of points to be a very good basketball player. He gave Burke far more trouble than anyone else, and Burke might be rookie of the year this year. That didn't happen because of some media-generated "hustle" meme.
I know everyone hates him and hates OSU. He's still good.
You got lucky OP
BigTen BBall is just a gauntlet. Will be interesting to see how Sparty fares in their road games as they seem to be the only "dominant" team in The B1G.
MSU is dominant? They've gone to OT their last two games.
I think Wisconsin and Iowa are the two best teams in the conference. Michigan/MSU/Ohio are in the next tier.
Eh, MSU is dealing with injuries, if they weren't they do a lot better. (Same for us with McGary). I suppose factoring that in, yeah, that looks to be how it is but if MSU gets healthy they are going to be incredibly difficult to beat.
OSU is not a good shooting team but they play good defense.
Some times it is all about when you play a team.
Combo of both I would say...Minnesota is gelling together nicely and us catching them early worked nicely in our favor. The return game in AA will be a fun one.
This is why you play a tough non con sched. You can get exposed if you don't. From number three to three straight losses for the bucks.
All right this weekend is huge but at the end our team can't get too down if they lose since nobody wins in Madison. I think the team can win but it will be very difficult and they will have to play amazing.
Queme los barcos.
just for a second to watch the meltdown...
Hi Ho Hi Ho off to bucknuts I go...
One comment is "NIT! NIT! NIT!"
Even Sparty doesn't look that dominant at least against Ohio, Minn, and NW. There's a lot of parity.
Oh how quickly you forget the beatdown they gave us last year when we were a better team.
Trying to play the ''Let's compare how they've done against common opponents'' game doesn't mean anything. We have to just beat THEM.
MSU last year caught us at the tail end of a brutal stretch of games (five games in 11 days, or something) and we didn't have our legs under us. In Crisler we saw the real Michigan team.
Anyway, this isn't the same MSU team as last year - Nix is gone, and Payne is not 100% and probably never will be this season.
I think Michigan has a fair chance to take them in Crisler again, but in Lansing...They're watching tape of Nik's 6'th grade father-son game right now. And the moldy concrete palace gets pretty well lubricated for that game. A lot is going to have to go right to walk out of Lansing with a W.
They've had to deal with a lot of injuries. Agreed that they haven't looked amazing but it's not whether you're healthy now.
Our advantage has been a few games to gel and get used to a team that probably won't have McGary. The funny thing is we have at least two NBA players still playing, our very good coaching staff, and a bunch of other players that have a lot of potential and/or are coming into their own.
If this team can develop a passable defense like MSU did with their offense in football watch out. I have faith in this team.
It's a great day. As a side note, every time I watch craft I hate him more. I have never seen a kid get away with so many fouls and than bitch at the refs every time he gets called for one.
While OSU probably is still better than us without McGary and they should be favored when they host us, I think their only good win so far is what.... their comeback against ND?
the home team calls. Only thing that will make them better.
At this point, absolutely.
Their signature win WAS Marquette...who are now 10-7.
While OSU probably is still better than us without McGary
I wouldn't even go that far. They've shown nothing to suggest they're a top 25 team, much less top 10. They simply played a piss-poor OOC schedule and got a miracle in one of the only remotely tough games (ND) they had in December.
Given how hard it is to win on the road in CBB, I would give them the edge in Columbus, but on a neutral court I'd like our chances.
Three straight L's for Thad Matta!
A quarter of the way through the Big Ten season and I'm 23/27 on my predictions! Michigan winning @ Minnesota, Minnesota winning @ Penn State, Iowa winning @ OSU, and Purdue winning @ Illinois are the only incorrect guesses I made so far.
My predicted final standings can be found here:
It's really a shame we don't have OSU at home.
SKI U MAH BITCHES
If I wasn't on my iPhone
beat Memphis by 10 on the road. Ranked teams are falling. Some wins in the next three and we can crack to Top 25
That's indirectly good for our RPI , since Stanford beat UConn.
We'll crack the top 25 with a win on Saturday.
We'll crack the top 20 with a win on Saturday
I think we can get our first win in Columbus in awhile. They are not a very big threat on offense and don't run and that plays into our hands
If they don't run, we don't run. I prefer for us to run a little
We've had a ton of injuries too this year. McGary, Robinson x3, and Stauskas.
Huge win for MN and Michigan. I love how the buckeyes have been exposed for what they really are.
I think we may lose in EL being a young team in primetime etc. but they are definitely not head and shoulders above us.
OSU plays pretty good D, but no go to guys offensively. Can't say I am shocked; they have had perhaps the roughest B10 schedule to date. Here's hoping we aren't singning the same sad song ten days from now.
Also, Minnesota is a pretty darn good team; agree with the posters that have noted the burnish to our road win there.
