Mingling with the players after the game

We were at the game tonight and decided to hang out after to watch the players come out. Normally, they head to the bus but tonight was like a giant family reunion. Many of the players had family there, and spent time talking to fans, too. My husband told me David Molk gave him the evil eye, but I sort of think he gives everyone the evil eye, myself included when I said "Good game" to him. When the players came out, they each grabbed a big foil pan off a table, which was dinner. Taylor Lewan's dad (who is as tall as his son), threatened to eat Taylor's dinner if he didn't hurry up. Also, Taylor's elbow was wrapped with ice - hope it's ok. Denard came out last, with security guys around him, and the state police behind him - rock star treatment.

It was great fun to see everyone hanging out. Would have loved to know what they got for dinner.

It was really nice seeing so many Michigan fans in the stands.  Not all that uncommon when we play @ Northwestern but it's still a great sight.  I could hear you guys singing the Victors in the background after the game was done.

Glad you had a great time.

We sat in the Northwestern section and there were these four obnoxious fans who yelled "Cheaters!" over and over again when we got a penalty. I got so annoyed that when they started doing their GO NU! chant, I tried to drown them out with Go Blue! They were really taken aback by me interrupting their chant. I would have let them have their chant, but calling us cheaters is wrong and needed to be stopped.

The crowd was awesome, especially in the second quarter. We took their fans out of the game completely. It was good to be a Michigan Wolverine tonight.

I didn't recognize a lot of guys. I just went to MgoBlue.com to check out the roster, and I may have seen Steve Watson. It was dark, so you really had to be close to see who it was. Some guys like Vincent Smith and Patrick Omameh are easily recognizable, but other guys not so much. Roy Roundtree was taller than I thought - he was talking to a guy next to us about this game and his play, but I didn't want to eavesdrop.

That's cool!  Did the same thing last year after the ND game.  Wasn't that sort of set up, they just walked out to the buses (no real mingling) but I did get to high five Denard, shake Devin's hand, shake Barwis' hand, and a lot of the team.  When I saw Kovacs I was like, "Yeah Kovacs!!" and his look back to me (he was about 5 feet away) was a mix between enthusiasm and some amount of surprise that a fan recognized him. :P

BTW I'm jealous you got the evil eye from Molk! :P

The visiting teams at Michigan Stadium always have some sort of catered feast waiting for them on tables next to the locker room door.  It's usually things like pizza (one box per player), big things of KFC, Subway (in obscene amounts), things like that.  A lot of fast food type stuff, and enough to feed about three normal-sized people.

I made a comment to Taylor Lewan about punishing some donkeys and his dad cracked a huge smile on his face.  Then I asked Lewan to flash the moustache, and he put his finger up above his lip and everyone around us laughed.  Great times.

Gave Gorgeous Al a "Great game coach" and he said thanks.  Numerous thanks to players like Gallon, Roundtree, Shaw, and of course Denard.  It was a fun post-game time.

The one thing that ticked me off were the numerous autograph hounds with helmets, photos, footballs, etc.  I highly doubt they were getting them for their own collections, it seemed like it was purely business.  That was annoying.  Some of the players declined but others were happy to oblige.

I did a fair share of mingling last night also. I said 'Good Game' to Bellomy, and he looked shocked I knew who he was! I shook Rountree's hand, and he seemed quite happy with how things went. Raymon Taylor was talking with folks about the game when someone asked him 'where your boy Brown was'. Raymon said he had skipped some class, so wasn't with the team that day (I think he just meant on the travel squad). Both coordinators were gracious when I said 'Good Game'. Gallon looks much shorter in person than on the field.
