You mean that guy who thought drafting Charles Rogers and drew stanton were good ideas?
Millen simply confirms he is a moron, his take on Gholston
You mean the guy who compared tate forcier to Joe Montana?
You really can't pin Harrington on him. He was told to draft Harrington by one of hte Fords.
BRCE, the Ford family is pretty well-known for dipping its fingers into the details of the Detroit Lions. It doesn't necessarily happen on every decision.
Hiring Millen (someone who'd willingly play the stooge) fits into the larger plan.
Not sure WTF is going on with this year's team. I suppose a blind squirrel *will* sometimes find some acorns.
EDIT: Ha! I just saw the blind squirrel cartoon in another post.
My best guess here is that WCF is so senile that he has become WTF, his home is a de facto one-patient nursing home, and that he is no longer able to give feedback concerning the day to day operation of the team.
I am sure that what Bobby Layne meant when he said the Lions wouldn't do anything for fifty years is that he knew WCF would run the team for that long, and knew that no team being run by WCF would ever win a championship.
If Millen was a fall guy for a senile WTF, I would be a lot more impressed than if he had actually made all of those terrible decisions by himself.
And Calvin Johnson...oh wait.
And, it's been posted on here twice ... this is the 3rd post
A simple Millen Gholston search of MGoblog would have given u those 2 stories at the top of the list
Did he ruin your day?
One would just think if you wanted to post the story about what Millen said about Gholston you would do a simple MGoBlog search to make sure it wasn't already posted. And, logically you would search Millen Gholston.
There have been a ton of nice posts bashing Gholston, but I really don't think we need 3 separate threads about what Millen said about Gholton ... the exact same article
Here's a simple Millen Gholston search with results:
Quit being a dick wrestler120.
Fowler's reactions are priceless
Wow, I am surprised any of us survived, now that you put it that way.
I have been bitten, had my leg twisted, my hand stomped, my head kicked, and probably more I have forgotten. I also suspect those same things happen today and have nothing to do with your view of "old timers".
This stuff still happens. But what has changed things is TV. Some of the things not seen before are now being caught. Suppose the M-MSU game happened in the 60s or was on the BTN, how many of us would have even known about the head twist?
Agreed. There's nothing really old school about playing dirty. My playing days ended only 7 years ago, and as a center when I played, I dealt with people going out of their way to break the fingers on my right hand; i.e. purposely stepping on them when I was down and grabbing at them in a pile up. And yes, they were successful on multiple occassions, as a few of my fingers that don't bend all the way anymore are a testament to. On the other end, I also never missed an oppurtunity to gut punch a d-lineman jumping to swat a pass or sneak a chop block with a fellow lineman if a d-tackle was getting too confident with his pass rush.
That being said, as "dirty" as I and the people I played against were, when the whistle blew, everyone stopped and punches thrown out of anger rather than strategy, along with anything directed towards the neck, was strictly off limits.
He was a super thug when he was on the Raiders, and from what I've read he was a thug and a frequent fighter at Penn State and in high school too.
Agree that this confirms suspicions about Millen just. . . not. . . being. . . much of a mensch. Something of a parallel to Pryor's nincompoop 'everybody kills' comment.
Book. Write it. Now.
seriously...it's not a 180 degree twist. Why do people keep saying tha?. (i'm not saying it wasn't bad, but 180 is absurd)
You should volunteer for a study to see if 10 or 15 degrees makes a difference.
Where is the YouTube clip of Kyle Turley showing you what would happen if you twisted his QB's head?
Also, try to avoid using the term "take" -- one of the great cliches of sports-talk.
The fact that Millen is employed by anyone to talk about football is a mystery to me. Maybe ESPN will open their eyes soon. But then again it's ESPN, they have their own credibility issues.
Will someone tell me how this guy still has a job?
What's a gholston?
He's not a moron he's a morans.
The inmates have just been promoted to Assistant to the Asylum Manager. God help us all.
Why waste my time & effort to comment on dumbarse Millen.
Explain exactly what was Gholston was suspended for: merely the punch? "Where he momentarily lost composure?" The murderous snapping of Denard's neck was deemed OK?
"I deeply regret momentarily losing my composure late in the third quarter of last Saturday's game against Michigan," Gholston said Thursday in a statement released by the school. "Although provoked, my response was inappropriate. Coach Dantonio regularly reminds us that actions have consequences, and I will be better prepared to handle these circumstances in the future." SI
"In the heat of the moment, he momentarily lost his composure," coach Mark Dantonio said. "Football is an emotional game of split-second reactions. It was an unfortunate incident."

I'm just glad you guys have other rivals and have at least temporarially shifted focus to MSU hate with all the Gholston threads and the new tagline. YAY no more cooler pooping, Jim Tressel cheats jokes! (for now.)
Millen is an idiot but didn't we all know that already and holtz can be right from time to time like last night when he called out borges on the forth down decision last week please whoever millennium is employes millen fire him.
how about some punctuation?
Neg police just graduate from the academy?
How in the HELL did Mr Ford look at this guy and decide that he was the one to lead his football organization! Flow of the game??? He did have one good idea though. Go back, look at the tape, and suspend ANYONE who had a late dirty hit. I wonder if MSU would like to have that done.
Whether or not this is the 4th or 5th time this topic has had a thread, posters have attempted to make comments and have been negged! Solid comments, redundant comments... Who cares?
I haven't read many threads with this much GREY AREA! I GUESS I SHOULD DO A SEARCH.
Maybe it's the first time they've read this, heard this, found this out.....who cares?
I could give a shit about points. Let them post! WTF?
Are there that many "holier than thous" out there who need to NEG! Maybe they should become teachers and grade papers, obviously taking off points?
I know this topic is old, but have you guys seen this video? It's a parody of the Millen era called Millenball.
Given Millen's track record in football, particularly in the management thereof, his continued employment as an experienced voice regarding the game defies explanation.
I saw someone say Millen has been discussed in two other threads this week, but I'm blamed if I saw them, and I'm a two-to-four times a day visitor.
This is one of the times when the mods go all Mussollini just because THEY feel weary of something when no real harm is being done; a little weak and arbitrary considering some of the derp that prevails here at other times.
Millen says it's cool you guys. Guess it's time to get over it.
All of the Millen haters on here need to stop. He is a football genius! The Lions were a powerhouse when he was in charge. Why wouldn't he be giving football advice with his undeniable knowledge? I wake up every day praying he replaces Brandon. Seriously though, I can't believe there is a post about this boy on here. Kill me now lord.
When can we get over this Millen mess...it just makes us stupid to talk about something we all knew it's stupid to talk about
It just confirms every theory that this guy is an absolute effing idiot. what that kid did out on the field that day was absolutely unexcusable and rediculous. all bias aside he deserves far more of a punishment than he recieved.
