The canoe was half full of water, but he capsized it, then tore the bottom out of it and lost the paddles down the river then ran it over a waterfall and broke it into a thousand pieces.

It was in bad shape before he got there, but when he was done with it, it was destroyed beyond all hope of reasonably easy salvage. I don't think the Lions can be a decent team next year. I think it'll still take another 2 years with the hole they are still digging out of.

I would agree with you but that canoe was what.....a field goal from missing the playoffs.  It was consistently winning at least 7 games per season and could be counted on to be a contender.  Then Millen took it over and turned it into a team that can barely win 2 games a season.

Yeah, that's me.  That photo is from four years ago, but I still have the helmet, the beard, and the pasty white skin.

It's been a little while since the photo has popped up anywhere, but it was oddly popular among Spartans looking to mock the M fan base.  Somebody on RCMB posted about raiding a meth lab, and somebody else posted that photo with the query: "Two of the perpetrators?"  (Elsewhere in the thread, somebody decided I looked like the lead singer of the Spin Doctors.  That's actually pretty accurate.)

Honestly, its kind of an honor for them to have saved a picture of you just to bring it out once a year.   Spartan fans are just all around strange.  You do look like the lead singer for the Spin Doctors.

I think he does fine, even though I don't like him. Plus, with Millen comes Sean McDonough, who I find excellent at his job.

Exactly. McDonough called the ND game last year and I'll never forget the signature "Caught!" when Matthews scored that TD.

So when Denard leads us down the field with a minute left for a win, it'll be McDonough doing the play-by-play and that's what we'll hear when we youtube the game for years to come.

I guess you had to be a Lions fan to hate Millen as much as a lot of people on this board seem to despise the guy. Personally, I find his comments to be pretty funny ("Studbolt", "There's a jockstrap on the field...", "That's six.") and, occasionally, insightful.

Maybe it's because I lived in Boston for most of the Millen/Lions debacle.  That whole era didn't really exist for me as I turned a blind eye to it and watched the Patriots instead.  I really don't mind his announcing for Michigan games, especially compared to most of the yahoos we're usually hearing.  But I do admit I might have the same visceral reaction to his announcing as a lot of people on this board (also heard the WTKA guys complaining about it this morning) had I been living in Michigan for the last decade.

They had a discussion on the radio of "Things you'd rather hear than Matt Millen announcing the Michigan-MSU game."

I'd like to continue that here... my favorite was "Gary Bettman saying 'Sydney Crosby come get the stanley cup'."

I don't know what his record is annoucing Michigan games, but I'd rather him than Herbstreit and Musberger.  When I think of those two, I instantly think back to the '06 OSU game.  I'll take any positive numbers heading into the game.

Anybody is better than Musberger.  I will never forget when he put up that chart comparing UM and Florida's schedules and went on a totally unnecessary rant about how much better Florida was.  Ugh.

Also, Millen is one of the few college commentators that I actually kind of enjoy.
