Found this at http://www.theringer.com/forums/sec-recruiting/2270-Alabama-2011-recruit... . Take it FWIW seeing as I dont have any info on this Miles Fomby character, but the one thing that stood out was that other recruits have stated that Dee recruited for Alabama. Let's hope this is a lot to do about nothing.
Miles Fomby and Dee Hart's 'Bama recruitment...
Maybe they're crappy recruits and it's Dee's master plan to destroy Alabama from the inside out.
Knowing Alabama, they would just sign twice as many recruits the next season to make up for it.
but 2 (2*) recruits = 1 (4*)?
i was an LSA guy not an engineer
Making stupid threads like this.
The only thing stupid is the name of moderator on that Bama forum. Miles Fromby? Sounds like a name of a character from an Australian sitcom.
That is a truly excellent name.
I'd have liked to hear his take on the SMU program. Would have been interesting, for sure.
I think that would have made it one of the best 30 for 30 yet. Also if they left out Lloyd Carr out at the end.
Does being able to enroll early really have such a big impact as to dictate where Hart goes? Go to Michigan because he can't enroll early at Alabama? That sounds like some backwards deep South wishful thinking to me . . .
A quarterback can really benefit from early enrollment (see: Forcier, Tate). But most running backs wouldn't need all that extra practice just to figure out what they're supposed to do, and get good doing it. That can be done without being on campus in January.
I think he just realized that he doesn't need to enroll early. And he should enjoy his high school experience (but not too much).
I wouldn't argue that a QB couldn't benefit the most, but I find it pretty hard to believe that EE wouldn't help any player. Heck, pick at random any of the recent articles on virtually every sports site about the importance of the extra practices teams get with bowl games. They all say something about how important they are for the younger players, and then almost always make some mention of how most Freshman spend the first half of the season trying to get use to their new system, the increased speed of the game, etc. While certain positions may benefit more, I think that any player would be better off (from a football standpoint) from the extra practices.
That said, unless a kid has a very realistic shot at seeing playing time as a true freshman, I'd also push for completing high school and enrolling over the summer.
We also know that Miles Fomby is Miles Fomby, Super Moderator as opposed to Senior Member or just plain old member.
Yes Alabama has a great program.
But every time I read something from a Bama site they cannot understand a recruit not attending Bama or has some inside info (that is usually wrong.)
You can actually say the same for most SEC schools sites...pretty annoying.
Like we are so understanding when recruits don't choose Michigan.
We generally are. Most of the posts are of the "bummer, but good luck to him" nature.
or "Why wouldn't he want to be in nice warm weather... How can we compete with that?..."
Tom said he ruled out Alabama and will go to Florida if RR loses his job.
That was when Urban Cryer was there.
That is the funniest evar
is he related to Sidney Crysby at all??
I hope Tom is right, but if you click the link within the Alabama forum, Dee's school does list him as a verbal to Bama.... Hopefully this is incorrect, or was it was drafted during the brief but terrifying decommit / recommit time frame - when the popular sentiment was that he was going to Bama….. However, withFlorida’s coaching situation (and ours) and Ha-Ha in his ear you never know….
Hopefully the Bama fans are just using the internets for rumor mongering and don’t have inside information.
I wasn't the one reporting that. I was pointing out an article from the Orlando Sentinel, and some quotes from the author.
Tom, sorry for the confusion about you reporting the prior Dee news rather than just passing along the Orlando Sentinel's report. Any thoughts on the most recent rumor mongering from the Alabama site?
Check out the back-and-forth on Tom's and Miles Fomby's twitters. Its seems this guy does not know what he's talking about, especially since he is probably misinterpreting the Houston Nutt rule.
I didn't understand what he was talking about with that.
At the risk of sounding like an a--, isn't the Sentinel the paper that Hart f-ed with and reported that he was choosing Alabama before he chose Michigan? I don't know who/what to believe . . .
yeah I tried to search online for some clarification on that but I can't seem to make sense of what he said.
It seems like the rule for EE in the SEC is that they can count backwards or forwards for either year. If 2010 is full, why would Dee not be able to just count for the 2011 class?
Me thinks this guy is talking out of his ass.
Ah, ok, sorry about that!
from another 500 post freak out
I didnt participate in the last melt down.... so i fill i can add at least 10 freakout posts in this thread!
this twit tweeted to another twit that Dee's chances of going to M were good if RR stayed. Why would that be, if he really wanted to EE at 'Bama and was actively recruiting for them? This after he tweeted the first bit
Seems like a contradiction. But he'll likely get more hits tonight than he's ever had. That's what the internets are for: Twits tweeting other Twits to get Hits. Abbr: TwitHitTwit
Alabama has not let up off the whole recruiting him as a slot wr/return specialist thing. I would be shocked if he was willing to do that and ended up at Alabama.
Applicable? Not really. But it is classic and hilarious.
Dee is still committed to Michigan. I don't think Hart even has a committable offer to Florida, so I don't know why he would still be considering Florida. However, I do know that Alabama tried to promise a few things to Dee and aren't able to back it up. He never officially crossed Bama off his list, and Alabama hasn't given up. It will be interesting to see what happens from this point on.
EDIT: What the poster says is dead-on to what I have been hearing. Dee was promised an EE spot, but since that spot was taken (and the in-home visit) he didn't commit to Bama. Hart has said, however, he wants to play for coach Rodriguez, so he won't really talk about anything until Dave Brandon makes his decision (if he ever does).
...imagine if DB never, ever made his decision...creative writing exercise, reply to this thread!
Every evening, DB says, "Good night, Rich. I'll most likely fire you in the morning."
Until he signs the dotted line, I'm not going to worry about it. Yes he is a phenomenal running back and we could use him but if he doesn't want to come come to Michigan, no problem. We will be fine with or without him.
is what he said he wanted (hence Florida as a back-up over Bama). Now that they're going pro style, I'd say both Bama and Florida are out. Not sure what school would be the new back up plan...
everyone can freak out or speculate again, but he could just be doing the same thing to mess with people, cause he already mentioned how funny it is that people freak out over where he might go.
Just sit back and if he ends up at michigan then we will be extremely lucky to have him, and hopefully RR will be around to show the world what he can do.
My sentiments exactly. It seems to be the "in" thing for recruits to mess with people this year....I blame twitter.
(3) Demetrius Hart: senior, 2,000+ yards rushing, 3,000+ all-purpose yards, 7,000+ all-purpose career yards. Owns Central Florida season touchdown record (48 through 13 games), US Army All-American Bowl invitee, owns 23 school records, ranked as # 1 all-purpose running back in nation (Rivals), verbally committed to Alabama.
Dr. Phillips submitted that form.
what link are you referring to?
Probably the one in the OP. This post in particular:
Please forgive me, I'm a hundred years old. I was trying to say that if you click on the blue link with the 2 high schools, and then follow the Dr. Phillips part, it shows the actual form .
gotcha...but probably more information than needed on this topic
maybe better to just wait and see where he enrolls
What do you mean more information than needed on this topic? It is the topic. You sound like you're in denial. His own school released information that they think he's committed to Alabama verbally.
