are you kidding?  He has no ties to the University of Michigan.  He owes us nothing.  He's 18. He's doing what is best for himself and exactly what I expect you would counsel your own son to do.

No I'm not kidding you.  Not only am I a father but I'm a high school coach.  I would tell my kids as I tell my players don't commit unless your positive.  I have a kid who plays for me now who has an Illinois offer, but he wants bigger. I told him don't commit then until your positive you have what you want. So no I'm not kidding. I'm tired of hearing people say what's best for him. Let's be honest a Michigan degree will help you tons.

I believe you are giving very bad advice to your players--advice based on your own personal code of conduct--not advice necessarily in the best interest of your player.  So when the Illinois offer goes away, your player will be where?  This applies to each of your posts.  These are just verbal committments--nothing is final until signing day.  Things change--coaches leave, other players commit, offensive schemes change.

I do get what your saying. Not trying to argue. My player is all-state so Illinois offer isn't leaving.  I'm just trying to get him to understand as a man your only as good as your word

And sometimes things get better not worse.

Interesting couple of post.  Starts off with saying "fuck him" about a 17-18 year old making a choice about where he will play football and ends with "You're only as good as you're word".

What do your words say about you?

Good for him. No reason to sign up for a career full of 6-7 seasons full of dogfights with Maryland, Rutgers, and Northwestern. I hope you find a competitive football team to play for Mike.

We still have quite a few backs, including Ty Isaac with 3 years of eligibility left.  Hate to see him go, but he's the least of our worries.

Can you blame him? I certainly don't. Why come to this tire fire of a program?

I know I'm a delusional optimist, but that's all that keeps me on board at this point. He'll come crawling back when he sees Jim Harbaugh walking to the podium in about a month and a half.

Brian Cole just favorited a tweet telling him to come to decommit and come to state. I have a feeling the kid is a goner if we don't make a move soon.

I don't want kids who pull this crap. Chris Clark should also get his scholarship yanked for trashing a future teammate. I understand they're upset, but if you don't wanna come here just decommit and pick another team. Also, have some class and talk to the coaches first instead of tweeting it during the game.

Education means zero to you. You made the right decision. Doesn't seem like a fit from our perspective either ... its a win win. Thanks for realizing you could not succeed.

C'mon grow up and get some perspective, or get sober.  Whichever helps more.  HS football players sign with teams to get an education and play football at a high level.  There are a lot of schools in this country which can give you an education on par with the University of Michigan, and I'm sure plenty of those have football programs that don't regress in developing their players.  We are a shit-show right now whether you like it or not.  Would you take a job with a company that was falling apart at the seams just because you have a sentimental attachement to it?  Kids have to what is best for them.  I hope we pull out of this someday soon but the recent history of this storied football program doesn't instill a lot of confidence or hope.

Not a big deal.   This probably has as much to do with the fact that he'll be playing behind Derrick Green, Dev Smith, Hayes, Drake and TY ISAAC as much as UM's poor season and impending coaching change. I don't see him as a game changer anyway and we don't need him.

Let's just get the coaching hire right and everything else will be fine.

Why would you decommit if you know this coaching staff will be gone and another, more competent staff is on the way..and..you can get a UM degree.  He shoulda held his fire till Feb signing.
