Mike Hart a future Michigan Head Coach???

Submitted by TNWolverine on

I found this article while I was at work and thought it was pretty cool.  The article basically quotes Hart saying that his dream job is to coach at Michigan one day. Here is the link: Enjoy

This is nice, but what is the difference between his dream and the one Tyrone Wheatley is pursuing at Syracuse other than Wheatley is a few years further in the journey?  IMHO, the more former players that want to coach, the better.

Good luck to both of them.

From my MSU perspective, Hart was always a tough pill to swallow.  But in retrospect, I have to give him his due; truly one of the most determined backs I've watched.  Not the most talented back, but what he lacked in physical ability, he more than made up with mental toughness.

And if arrogance has to be earned, well . . .  Mike Hart earned it.

That mentality is a healthy one when it comes to coaching in the B10, or anywhere for that matter.  Thus, I agree that sometime in the future, he would incorporate nicely into your program.

I guess it all depends on where you're watching from.  What looks like arrogance from East Lansing comes off as confidence in AA.

Good comment though :)  Very fair observation.  Harbaugh has very similar traits - will be interesting if he were to ever end up here as HC.  He would be a lot more overtly combative than RR.

Agreed that it is perspectival.  In my view, however, the term "arrogance" is not used in a pejorative sense to describe someone who has earned it.  I use it as high praise.  "Arrogance" is only a pejorative term when describing one who has not earned it.

I think you're right about Harbaugh - didn't he guarantee victory over OSU?  I know Hart did the same against ND.  Certainly a lot of common ground.  That is not to say, however, that RR does not have the same mentality.

Logging on just to say that the people giving OP a hard time for posting this article are idiots, assholes, or both.  It's a nice story about a player we all love, who has a dream of someday (not today, for the moronic few who think there is a FIRE RICH ROD element at play) coaching for his alma mater.  This is the kind of thing these boards are made for -- to share things for the interest and/or amusement of fellow Michigan fans.

It's been said a million times, but apparently bears repeating:  If a given topic doesn't interest you, don't read the post, instead of reading it and then wasting time with annoying comments asking "why is this relevant"?

I totally agree.  I think his post was certainly thread-worthy and in no way implying anything other than what Mike Hart might like to do in...I dunno...about 15 years?

FWIW I posted a question this morning on injury reports and why we do them.  The first response neg'd me and posted a snarky comment and didn't even bother to read the freaking question first.  I absolutely do not get that at all.  Fortunately he's getting neg'd himself pretty good so there is justice in this world.

If he doesn't end up coaching, I wouldn't be surprised to see him follow a path like Dave Brandon.  He was smart as hell, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him back at Ross for an MBA once he ends his pro career.  While he'd be a greater leader in the business world, I think anybody who was at school from 04-08 would love to go back and see him behind the bench someday.

I hope he rides out his pro career as long as he can, then I hope he can come back to Michigan to start (and end) his coaching career.

He has the passion and drive that I'd love to see sporting the Maize and Blue once again.  If coaching doesn't work out, get him on the recruiting trail.  Could you imagine getting recruited by Mike Hart?  His enthusiasm and love for Michigan would be impossible to pass up.  I could definitely see him becoming, at a minimum, the recruiting coordinator.

If he does I can't imagine the level of smacktalk he would dish out. I can imagine him wearing a "Bow down Little brother" T shirt on State week
