Mike Farrell on potential Dior Mathis surprise

Submitted by kriegers on
"He's saying Oregon's his leader and that's where he wants to go [but] it wouldn't surprise me at all if he just picked Michigan out of the blue." http://michigan.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1036023 I think this would be quite surprising. Just passing along the info to share the wealth.

Something tells me that Dior's "selection of the hat" moment will be full of switcheroos and fake-outs, culminating in a placement-of-hat-on-head that will be quickly removed for the "surprising" and "shocking" moment when he puts on a hat of a team that was always in his top-5.

Will Ha"N"gerup is not only booming punts but it was said that he went over to get some reps at WR. Everyone was giving him crap since he was a punter but he burned the corner for 6. 3 star punter or WR? You be the judge

Considering the source...Mike Farrell...this could just be another one of his and Hawkeye's schemes to irritate Frank Burns and perhaps get closer to Margaret.

but grimes is probably a bit better than you are. you had your chance to commit with DG, but you missed it. now you will just have to wait and see about witty and grimes. that is, if you still want to come here.

Farrell is clueless. He got burned by Campbell last year with the "elimination" of Michigan and is being extra cautious this time around. Dior's talking just to talk. Michigan hasn't spoken with him in months and moved on way before that. In my completely unprofessional opinion, they will end up regretting it. The Ducks have a good track record with DBs lately, and he'll be a great player for them.

For what it's worth (likely not much), I often sit in the player/recruit area of bball games and have seen Dior there on multiple occasions. Whereas some kids seem...shy spectators...Dior seems to be very comfortable with other kids, staff, players, etc. Maybe that's just because he's from Detroit and knows folks. To me, it seems like Oregon is the destination but I figured I'd put an observation out there. He just seems like part of the team. Probably means nothing...

Mike Farrell is a national recruiting analyst, meaning he doesn't really keep the pulse on any one area. He has a general idea of what he's talking about, but when it comes down to the nuances of an individual recruit's decision process, Farrell is often wrong.

Get him on the practice field and worry about particulars later. From our recruitment of a lot of players it sounds like a decent amount will be switching positions as well. If we have the scholarships, put a uniform on him and get him on the field. RR and the staff will find a place for him. Mathis is an athlete. The rest will work itself out.
