Midwest Elite 7 on 7

Submitted by Vader on

Elimination Rounds are tomorrow from 9 - 12 at Avondale High School. Anybody ever gone to one of these? Is it worth a 20 minute drive?

Also, does anyone know if any Michigan targets/commits are supposed to be there?

Ask yourself: Am I willing to drive 20 minutes to watch two hand touch football? Even if its really good two hand touch football?

If the answer is yes, Godspeed.

Didn't we have this exact same thread for a similar event that was only 15 minutes away from someones house earlier this year?

Anyways, 20 minute drive is nothing. I am just guessing that you are trying to get some advice from people that have been to the event before. Each event will be completly different. Yes the format will be the same, but no one can really tell you how good the competition will be. I don't care if its full of 5 stars or not.

Case in point: Top 5 star QB (can't remember his name, not going to look it up) not receiving an Elite 11 invite after a dissapointing showing. Can never tell if people will play up to their potential or notl.

IMO, I would go if you have nothing better to do.

Edit: Grammar is hard.

Can't answer that question in a vacuum. Answer the following:

  • Who will be there? More specifically, how many key Michigan recruits will be there?
  • Is there a cost to get in? $5? $10? $20? More?
  • What is the weather forecast? 45 degrees, windy & rainy? 70 & sunny?
  • What would you typically do on a Sunday morning? Sleep in? Sleep off a hangover? Read the paper? Play xbox or playstation games? Check out mgoblog? Surf the internet? Go to church? Go out with your wife for brunch? Do some needed chores? Spend time with children?

I have personal thoughts on how you can best and most profitably spend your time on Sunday, but my thoughts aren't your thoughts, and are irrelevant to you.

If you don't have any sigificant prior plans for Sunday, and there are some potential Michigan recruits in attendance, and the cost is free, and the weather is decent, by all means, you should go.

On the other hand, I wouldn't go if it means cancelling something that is more worthwhile, and if there is no one of sigificant interest to Michigan in attendance, and there is a cost, and the weather is going to be lousy.

EDIT:  Your title is lousy. It should read:  Should I go to the Midwest Elite 7 on 7 tomorrow?

Will be there, I prefer the smaller events to things like high school games.  These allow for a little closer contact with the recruits.  I always like to try to pick out a lower ranked guy who will make a jump, always nice to test your eye for  recruits.
