Mid-Week Michigan Football Withdrawal

Submitted by Shalom Lansky on

I screamed in Ufer like hysteria when Greg Matthews stepped over the goal line, shouting myself hoarse in Section 81. After getting light headed I remembered to breathe then resumed with my wooooooos. That unbridled enthusiasm followed me home that night, onto my Sunday plane ride home and into work on Monday. I've soaked up every mgoblog article, msm piece and brainless talk radio segment since.

Now there is nothing new to consume. Charlie Weis is out of excuses, worthy praise has been stretched to the point of incredulity (Tate for Heisman!) and former RRod dissenters can't backtrack fast enough (but will certainly be willing to back the truck up over Rodriguez should he falter in one of the next two games). Essentially, I crave more Michigan football but can't find anything new or worthwhile mid-week.

What do the rest of you do to fill the need during the week?

I like to go to the Union around lunchtime and spot the football players (they always sit in front of Wendy's).

On that note, while about as tall as I thought he'd be, Denard is thicker/bigger than I thought. Which I'll say is a good thing. And his hair is magnificent

haha I go down there a a few days a week for lunch, and it always happens to be when like half the team is down there. Today especially, practically the entire starting D (plus Denard) was there.

It could be worse... I could go to Cass Tech for lunch and tell Dior that he and Booboo are going to FUCK. SHIT. UP.

I've also seen it three times.
I also recorded the EMU/NU game (watching now) and the CMU/MSU game (might save that for tomorrow). Then, I'll probably watch our game one more time before Saturday (which will NOT be deleted for quite some time, thank you very much).
I also like to drink some good beer, and occasionally work.

I read so many college football blogs that I get burn out by late Wednesday/early Thursday. I take Thursday night to Friday to focus on smaller sports and their stories, or whatever MAC/BigEast game might be on television those nights. Then on Saturday, I'm totally refreshed and ready for the weekend.

That and my Sunday job is pretty sweet. I'm a professional tailgater. I work for an NFL franchise. I go around talking to different tailgate groups, asking them how things are going, how fired up they are, taste their food, and if necessary, ask them to turn down the music for the people next to them. I work from 5 hours prior to kick off to the start of the 3rd quarter, where I'm released with almost no restriction on where I can watch the game, whether that be from the tunnel to the locker rooms or any empty seat in the house.

Of course, since I don't care a dime about the NFL, I go home and pray there is a college game on Sunday.

I guess there is some benefit to the older method of writers stretching out the content from the Monday press conference into a weeks worth of stories.
