The women had a really great year last year but it's surprising to see the men get the win.
Hopefully this is just the beginning of the great news for Michigan Athletics this weekend.

Both teams got retailation for Big Ten's, and both are going to Nationals. Woman lost to MSU at Big Ten's and beat them today. Men lost to Indiana at Big Ten's and beat them today.
Hope they can make some noise at Nationals!

Its been a nice imporovement certainly, though Gibby has been relatively weaker in track where you need guys to score points across 800m/1500m/5K/SC/etc. instead of getting the entire team prepared for 8K or 10K XC. He is a high mileage strength based coach.
For those not familiar with XC scoring, the men's race was about as close as any race you'll ever see. 4 teams seperated by 5 points, I don't think I've seen that before in 15 years around the sport.

I noticed that too - as a former collegiate cross country runner the only thing I can ever think of being this close was the top 3 teams within 6 points. 4 within 5 is just nuts!

As for the shorter distances, you're correct. Coach Warhurst was more of a middle distance guy. That and talent like Willis and Brannen don't come around that often. It'll be interesting to see if Gibby can pull in some mid-distance talent with the success he's building.
