True Blue Grit

In this game. And that's not by guys bigger than them in all cases. It's hustle and athletic ability too. I wish we could recruit some inside bangers who can score too. We'd be invincible then.

They just look clueless in general. Haven't seen very many (if any) decent picks. Doyle is decent when he gets the ball posted up one on one. Wagner is good on the perimeter. Wilson is a good outside shooter. Donnal looks like he understands the offense the best in terms of setting picks (still not very good). None of these guys can do two things well.

LOL guy killing us from Xavier is from Detroit.  The irony of it all.

It's just becoming a meme by now.  We were fortunate with McGary coming here but otherwise we have to wait for our 5s to be rs seniors (Morgan) to really have any impact - so we will have 4 years of hell inside in every 5 year cycle I guess because we need our 5s to be able to shoot from 23' out and restrict them from being able to jump more than 18 inches off the ground.

I'm exaggerating but it's so predictable it's become old.  If you cant recruit that kind of 5 because 5s wont come here because they know they are a 5th wheel in the offense go get the guy who gets 5 pts a game with 12 rbs and blocks 3 a night and scares the living crap out of 6'3 guards from driving the lane.   Those arent top 50 guys in ranking - they are poor shooting athletes who need development.  Go get 2 of them.

The B1G isn't so big.  OSU lost,   NW went to OT against Columbia.  Duquesne crushed Penn State, Wisky lost for a second time.  If I were a Maryland fan though, I'd be heartened.  They weren't playing well but showed enough guts to win at the end against a Rider team that looked like they knew what they were doing.  Worst of all though.  State looks like they're going to play above their level.

You don't want to be in a weak conference. Leaves no margin for error. I think there are 5-6 good teams with maybe more that emerge. MSU, Maryland, Indiana, Purdue, and Iowa look good. I think Michigan can get there but we'll see. Have got to get the puzzle pieces to fit and figure out who are big men are.

Rider was blown out in their other 2 games. Maryland is probably the most overrated team in the country (it was Wisconsin who lost so many good to great players and yet were ranked for some reason). I hate to say it but Sparty and the Hoosiers look like the class of the B1G, at least in these first 2 weeks.

Foul before half was weak as fuck. This jumping into defenders is bullshit, no matter if they're in the air. Didn't see much before final 2 minutes but box score shows Caris doint most of the work....that a good think that they've kept up or a bad thing meaning the offense is Way too one dimensional?!

Its not so much 1 dimensional with 1 player. ... its 1 dimensional in that the team has no way to beat good teams other than shooting the lights out.  And tonight we are shooting 50% in 1st half and 40% from 3 and still down big because we don't do anything else well.

Our best rebounders are friggin guards, we dont have a rim protector, and we are soft as hell inside.  We wont out physical teams our be able to win on a poor shooting night vs a competent opponent because we have no inside offense - we just all stand around in a big circle and take 3s or ask Caris to drive the lane.  Its going to be another year of giving up 2nd (and 3rd chances) all night to opponents while we are mostly limited to our 1 shot.  Yee Haw.

What's up with the Levert hate? He's 5/9, with one shot being an end of half desperation, so really 5/8 with 2 of those misses being wide open 8 foot shots that he should have made. He also is the leading rebounder right now (which isn't really a good thing) and has 2 assist and should be more if the bigs could play in the post. For the 3 points he gave up at the end, he's created 20. This games a blowout right now without him.

Stop blaming the refs, this team is not very good, no defense, to much substitution, Donnel is bad, Wilson isnt much better.  How can anyone get in a rhythm going in and out all night? Gonna be a long season.

How do you ram your shoulder into an established defender and throw him back multiple feet to set up a open jumper with no offensive foul?

I know it ain't looking good, but I like the way the team seems to be coming together. Whether they win this one game or not, this team looks like it could do some good stuff down the road.
