Michigan would still take Pocic [UPDATED: apparently not]

[UPDATE: Tom's post has been updated to state that Michigan now says they're full.]

After reading some things over on WolverineNation, I came across Ethan Pocic. He called coach Funk, and asked him if there would still be a spot for him if he were to commit. Funk told him they would [accept] his commitment.

This class has put it in a different light for me.  I still think its a scummy thing to do, and I absolutely do not want Michigan to do it.   But I can see where the temptation lies.  We have a number of blue chip prospects interested in us, however, we don't have enough scholarships to fit them all.  I'd love to take 4 linebackers—Levenberry, Gedeon, McCray and O'Daniel (all of whom have expressed great interest in Michigan)—but we can only take 3.  I'd also love to take Pocic, or another stud TE, but I'm not sure what we have room for.  I can see how it seems very tempting to schools with...erm...different moral standards **cough**SEC**cough**.

That being said, oversigning can sacrafice a kids future just for the sake of getting more recruits, and it's just not the Michigan way.

We were going to take Caleb Stacey last year but that didn't happen. By the time these guys get here, we will have lost 4 more on the line. Of course we'd take Pocic. That's a no brainer. Off topic, one of my younger cousins is friends and goes to school with Ben Gedeon in Hudson and she says that the kid is an athletic freak of nature. This kid has been on my radar for well over a year now. Here's to hoping we get him! (and Levenberry)!
