I've been watching it and just waiting for it to get to the 4th qtr. I forgot how brutal it was to watch the 2008 season.
lol
"thaddeus odoms"
Can't wait for the pick six.
MINOR RAGE!
"Minor is major, touchdown!"
That may be the best transition from defense to blocking I have ever seen.
...earlier today. What a great turnaround. Night and day from the first half to the second.
- Threet to Koger for the first TD
- Minor's TD run
- Thompson's pick six
- Threet's out of the blue run followed by McGuffie's TD
And yet, didn't it seem that the team won in spite of itself?
Year three will be the one where they put it all together and minimize: the turnovers, the low snaps, the high snaps, the poorly executed bubble screens, the procedure calls, and the missed zone reads and maximize: the points.
"Year three will be the one where they put it all together and minimize: the turnovers, the low snaps, the high snaps, the poorly executed bubble screens, the procedure calls, and the missed zone reads and maximize: the points."
While that may be true, the key to winning in 2010 will be if we can minimize: the blown coverages, inevitable mistakes by underclassmen starting in the secondary, big plays by the opposition, inpportune penalties, and maximize: domination on the defensive side of the football.
...true, but much of the poor defense is directly attributable to the effect of RichRod's hurry up offense and the plethora of three and out series and TOs causing the defense to be under constant pressure. Cure the offensive woes and the defense has a chance to be decent.
Even with that pathetic defense last year, the team still wins 7 or so games with even an average turnover margin. We know that the bodies simply are not there on defense, but if we can be more efficient offensively, and not give our opponents a short field, that will cure a lot of our woes.
After watching this game (twice, hiding from my fiance') and the Iowa game from 2009, those GD turnovers.
And I agree with the zone read - a poster in another thread complained about both Denard and Tate not running this optimally last year. You can see against Iowa Tate recognized a few plays where there were bigger gains to be had
If Threet can do what he did with that play, there are bigger runs for Tate and epic plays from Denard to be had
This game really makes me hope that Threet and McGuffie have great careers at their new schools. Good luck to both this year.
I was at that game, I believe we were down 19-0 at the half, it looked pretty bleak
until.. Threet's huge run, the pick 6, what a great comeback.
I must put in a good word for Wisconsin fans here. They were AWESOME at the bar scene that night. After losing in such fashion, they were still full of Badger pride - classy and die-hard.
We had a battle of school songs, which was about as epic as the game itself.
(Wisconsin fans were ALSO awesome when we lost at Camp Randall in 2005. So really, Badger fans rock, all the way around. If you don't have a 2nd favorite B10 team, you should.)
This is around the only 15ish minutes I remember from the fall of 2008.....the rest, for some reason, escapes my memory.
Also, Brad Nessler is great (see 2000 Orange Bowl Intro).
Threet's Run= The Rumble of the Year
Love the "Minor is Major" call. Man, he could run with some power and explosiveness when he wanted to/was able to. That TD run was Wheatley-esque, although he of course doesn't possess the pure explosiveness that Ty did. Maybe Leroy Hoard is a better comparison?
Anyway, it's sad to me that many people around me left that game at halftime. They missed out on one for the ages. For all of Threet's inability to run the spread, bless his heart, the Buffalo Stampede Redux in this game will always hold a special place in my heart. Go Blue.
I've watched this game twice yesterday and the Iowa Michigan game the day before. It's almost football season! I'm starting to get excited.
