I guess this is technically a neutral-ice game even though it takes place at the Joe and M plays there frequently.  Anyone at the game who can give us a run-down on each team's fan representation?

As much as we as Michigan fans would love to call these chants "ours" we have stole most of them from Cornell University.  When I moved to Ithaca, NY I heard many a chants I thought were ours but were started there.

Most teams around the country now do "See-Ya" in some sort or fashion.

Edit: Beaten to it!

I hate single elimination in hockey. One shitty bounce and your're done.

Well, unless that shitty bounce goes our way!  About 3 of them!

Hopefully Red can get the team up again for a death-match with ND.  So tomorrow in this scenario, Miami plays Western and the winner plays in the championship game, and ND plays Michigan in a death-match, and the winner of that game plays in the championship too?

thats because a good portion of the student section was at the joe, actually pretty much just us section 17 nuts... We were given free tix by the AD.

I am glad we don't play Miami...I would have blown a gasket hearing our own cheers being thrown back at us by the Miami fans. They need to learn their own cheers and have their hockey band quit playing MSU's hockey band's song book.

um no. I am friends with a few hockey band alums and they can point out that about 80% of their band book is stolen from MSU. Goes with their attitude they feel they can steal the best from the two historically best programs in the CCHA.

"MSU plays their fight song, some overture, faintly reminescent of William Tell and... that's about it."

>>>And that is pretty much what the Miami band has played this season outside of FU, and a few more weekly top 40 selections. I thought I was at a Michigan/MSU game during the Miami/ND game today.

every band plays let's go blue. Even my high school and my undergrad purdue. My high school used the Michigan arrangement. We had a trombone instructor arrange it for us.

does not play "Let's Go Blue".  Also, according to my friends currently in the hockey band, last year, our director E-mailed thier director (who was new that year) Michigan's playlist and they say that Miami plays everything they play.  I remember Miami playing a lot of things similar to Michigan last year at the Joe and I remember their (was that really it? HA!) fight song into some cheer thing.  But they do play things other than that, which differentiates them from State.  Who literally only plays their fight song and some overture thing.  I know every band pretty much does that (Michigan plays "The Victors" and "Let's Go Blue" disproportionately often) but State takes it to the extreme.

Miami's hockey band director emailed our hockey band director and asked him "What kind of stuff do you typically play?" So our director emailed him back a typical playlist...which Miami exactly copied, rather than using it as a guidline as to what type of songs to play. Dr. Pasquale was PISSED. So yes, Miami did rip off Michigan's hockey playlist.

Also, they ripped off their fight song from the University of Chicago. The tune ("Love and Honor to Miami") is identical to "Wave the Flag for Old Chicago" but with different words.

We won the real conference.  And being the top two seed is pretty much the same road as the last one seed, actually exactly the same road.  All this means is we don't get to wear our maize sweaters in the regional final.

Not quite. The 2-seed plays the 3 and the 1-seed plays the 4. The winners of the two games play (losers go home) and the highest seed in all games chooses their uniform. As a 2-seed, Michigan would choose their colors in the first game, then in the second they would if they were playing the 4-seed.

We could play a team from any conference, really, but they usually try to keep teams from the same conference from meeting in the first game (usually the second, too, but not always).
