Michigan vs. Slippery Rock mens bball open thread
Thanks for the stream. I get angry when I can't see the games.
that looked like a charge
was in the circle.
In THJs ball handling
People rip the football program for scheduling FCS schools, but not basketball for scheduling D2 schools.
There is a slight difference in both the number of games between the sports and the price of a ticket.
McGary in foul trouble might be a real thing this season.
An airball on a lay up...don't see that too often...
He could have easily dunked
Some sloppy play tonight!
Lets start pulling away.
There's still a ton of game left but I have to remind myself that these are kids playing basketball. I jut hope they don't let this hype and high ranking get into their heads. I would like to see them just go out there and ball.
Is this an official regulars season game?
Yep. I see a couple official regulars in this bar.
Damn student announcers. Learn your craft quicker.
Jon Horford in the game! Good to see him back.
That was great work to get the rebound and 1.
Horford and Hardaway looking good...our freshman...not so much today...I kinda prefer seeing something from H and H though
Horford looks a ton bigger this season.
Spike has some major jock itch...
bad post defense tonight
That sure looked like a charge to me.
Santos L Halper
Something left to be desired: rebounding.
Grab the dang ball!!!!!
Different type lineup... Spike- Burke- Stauskas- Horford- Morgan. This could be a tough lineup to defend if Morgan/Horford could establish a mid-range shot.
If that is not a travel, I don't know what is.
Young guys look like they're taking a while to get up to speed on defense against a veteran team. Once they get their feet wet things should look a lot better on that end of the court.
...but man, I like what I see from Stauskas especially. He stands out to me in terms of athleticism and hustle. I'm excited to see that guy contribute, grow and develop under Belein the next 4 years.
How can a supposedly elite team struggle with a D2 school? The answer is that team is not elite.
Wait you're upset? Par the course, it's the 1st game of the year.....relax. I don't think many of us truly think this is a top 5 team we probably belong in the 10-15 range.
I'd be more understanding if it were CMU or Bowling State, but a D2 school? Pitiful. Michigan should win by 40 simply by showing up.
by struggling, you mean beating by 10 with 4 to go in the first half? I hope we struggle like that all year
THis is a D2 school. In case you are unaware of this fact, but D1 schools are much, much, better than D2 schools. Leading a D2 by ten with 4 to go is not a good thing.
...think of the #5 preseason rating as more of an expectation for the end of the year. This team will deal with growing pains, especially since they are going to get significant minutes from 5 players who have little to no experience in college (including Horford). They are talented, but even the Fab five dropped games here and there. Up 14 at the half, nothing to get too upset about.
So, is 41 points enough for you?
wow, he levitated.
glen robinson is going to be awesome
Big Dog Robinson: The second generation.
Little Big Dog?
They have looked horrible, but they are up by 10...talent and depth...If they boxed out and played better post defense....whooh
Settle down. Its the first game against a very athletic D2 school.
Rebounding seems pretty weak when they have GRIII at the 4 spot. Going to be an issue again this year if JB refuses to play 2 posts.
WHO WANTS SOME PIZZA?
I am so pumped for some pizza house feta bread.
I forgot the BBall open threads always contain:
Non-stop ref questioning.
It wouldn't be a basketball game without non-stop ref questioning.
Basketball is more parity where a d2 team can compete somewhat against a d1 team. I believe we will be a top 5 team if McGary can stay out of foul trouble.
I'll grant that they might be better than I am giving them credit for. Still, people around the country will get a chuckle out of UM struggling with a D2 school.
Who cares? It's the 1st game of the season with 4 freshman being inserted into the rotation. If this game was in February and we're struggling against a D2 school then freak out but not now. C'mon man!
People will see Michigan up by 16 at halftime and not think anything of it.
Won 3 games and 1 of them was against a d2 school. Slippery Rock is not good at all
The refs sure are calling a lot of fouls.
Stauskus is going to be a free throw hitting machine...I like our lineup coming down the stretch and iceing games...Hardaway, Albrecht, Burke, Stauskas
Trying to get all fancy pants.
It's not a joke. GVSU beat MSU the year they went to the final four.
Horford looks pretty solid so far.
Ya, especially since according to the announcer he set a pick for himself and scored. Impressive stuff.
He is also now Tim Duncan.
perfect slate for a young team.
there are going to be kinks to be worked out before the acc/b1g game.
I am going to bed to get up in 5 hours and start the trek north to the Big House. Trying to make it up there in time to enjoy a little tailgating. Go Blue.
If you can't fall asleep pretend you're the Michigan QB and run all the plays in your head. It works every time.
I'd advise pretending to be the Michigan RB instead - you don't even have to worry about imagining that you're gaining yards.
Not a great finish there. But I'll take the lead.
and we're not really struggling being up 14 points. If we keep up what we did in the first half, we'll win by 30.
Apparently that is not good enough.
I know this is really messed up, but I would laugh so hard if one of them fell right now.
Unicycle Half-Time Show!!!!!!!!!!!
You know what would have been a better halftime show? Lewan riding out their on a twosie. The crowd would have erupted. He wouldn't have had to do tricks or anything, just take a lap around the court.
Thoughts so far...
They have talent, athleticism, and depth. Hardaway has played within himself, and based off the first half, you would think he is the All American and not Burke. Horford looks like a very good piece off of the bench.
On the downside, this team is treating 'The Rock' as a Division II team. Poor boxing out, bad effort, and playing a little recklessly on the offensive end. Morgan has not impressed me in this half. He really needs his offense worked through playmakers, whereas Horford and Robinson seem to be able to create on their own. McGary needs to calm down a little to stay out of foul trouble, but I like his effort on the defensive end.
Overall, we have played poorly (~C- grade) and are winning handily. We have played an extended bench (10 on my count), and while doing it, doesn't seem like we take a significant step back. Morgan needs to bring more to the court or he will be passed by tthe more athletic big men on this roster. Good experience game
Agreed, especially on the defensive end - just letting dudes blow past them for some offensive rebounds and extra shots.
OK. Stream skips like crazy while the game is on, barely skips at all during halftime show. Anyone else have that going on?
Someone said try changing the 2500 in the url to lower the quality. I had skipping issues when I was using my work comp, but works fine for me at home.
Thank you. I'll try it.
I switched to the audio feed. David Merritt rocks.
Wow, he was angry
EDIT: Damn, you beat me to it. Too quick for me.
Hardaway with a "man slam". Love it.
These announcers are awesome.
Love seeing Hardaway fired up like this. He seemed to lack that a lot last year.
This team has so many weapons.
Well, hopefully this game is an indicator of Hardaways play for the remainder of the year. He is playing with authority right now.
sometimes your words just hypnotize me.
The music in Crisler is quite erotic.
erotic? I haven't heard Gangnam style yet!
This team is an offensive dynamo. If they are not top 3 in offensive eff at the end of the year, I will be very surprised.
I actually really like these announcers. A nice blend of restraint and colorful commentary.
Crisler erupts as Hardaway throws it down
The defense has been a little frustrating to watch tonight.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO stream died
Stream just went down? Boo.
Is the stream dead or is it just technical difficulties?
Back it seems.
*edit wrong game. Heard basketball didn't look to see who.
Apparently the Big 10 network has yet to reset their clocks.
It died on BigTen Digital as well
where did the feed go?
PISS POP :(
Stream just returned with Iowa-Texas Pan Am...
noooo iowa stream swipe
AIRBHG has gotten bored. His job is done in football, now seeks to torment rival fanbases with ridiculous hijinks.
So ya, I didn't pay to see Iowa...
Man am I pissed about the uniform changes. We look like Iowa.
Damn you, Iowa.
What the fuck. The feed from the Michigan website links me to Iowa game. W h a t t h e f u k
Glad I paid for the BTN subscription to watch the wrong broadcasts
On the plus side, we're killing State in hockey, 5-1 now.
firstrow switched also, gameover =[
Cmon BTN, we just missed another TH JR man jam!
Michigan up by 24 now.
Oh well. Time to watch Kentucky/Maryland.
what channel has teh radio broadcast?
BTN is replaying the game Monday at 4pm. My dvr is already set. Is yours?
http://www.mgoblue.com/allaccess/ for free audio
Oh well. At least I can go watch One Tree Hill.
You serious Clark?
I guess that's what happens when you play slippery rock. All your stream belong to Iowa.
I don't like these new Adidas uniforms, they say Iowa on the front ewww.
I'm questioning my decision to pay for this. If my stream is just going to cut out, I think I'd rather watch the free stream even if it is really choppy for me.
Clearly they have a quality technical team that doesn't even realize yet they are streaming the wrong game...
Maybe you could complain and get a refund?
Michigan up by 28 now. Hardaway has 25.
The guys over at Black Heart Gold Pants are pissed cuz they're getting the Michigan game.
Go B1G network....Go B1G network......
UM-72 The Rock-44
can somebody explain to me why Northern was considered an exhibition game but this isnt?
The regular season starts tonight.
they already played NMU and SVSU. Slippery Rock is considered to be their season opener. You can play one D2 opponent in your schedule that won't count against the RPI.
I love lamp.
I am stuck in Washington, where they just legalized weed, and I can't watch the game. Now what? Where's that leftie?
I think they figured this was the only way they could get anyone to watch Iowa...
Michigan up by 32 now.
82-50 UM Trey has over 20 pts...joing Hardaway
Good game in the Barclays Center to watch while listening to Michigan on the radio
Hardaway got his double double.
Maryland leads Kentucky now. Michigan could move up to # 4 after this game.
Michigan up 94-54 now.
Remember one someone was complaining that Michigan wasn't beating a D II team big enough...
This is terrible we gave up 54 points to a DII team. C'mon guys.
That guy seems to overreact to every game.
You should hear him talk about hunting.
Where's that "fan" saying Michigan isn't a top five team because they were not dominating a D 2 school at now? I think we learned a lesson in patience.
I feel like that is his shitck. I felt like he was overly negative last season as well.
Well the feed is back...only a minute left..
Very good game. Went basically how I expected it, didn't think we would win by quite this much though. Really really excited for the NC State game.
Michigan got 100!!
FREE CORN DOGS!!!
I fucking loved that part. Great flick for sure.
Michigan wins 100-62.
Since I'm too lazy to research it myself... does anyone know when we last scored 100 pts?
2007 vs Oakland.
103 - 87 Win vs. Oakland
...missed the prize by a few minutes, but hey there's the score and date too.
Nice tune up before we get to the preseason NIT, defense needs a little work but I'm not too concerned about that at this moment. Good win now onto IUPUI which we can actually watch on TV!
By the time I got to where I could access the stream it was all Iowa.
Monitored the score. Finally pulled away and got to 100 - sweet!
So I got Kentucky on. This is the team ESPN has been raving over for the past month? Getting manhandled here. Not top 5 in my book...
So I hear the basketball team is pretty good this year. I feel like I've been saying it for a while now but man is it a good time to be a fan of Michigan athletics. Go Blue!
Damn MD blew it.
But like I noted above, UK didn't look all that impressive to me.It's early, I know, but MD's bigs bumped them around quite a bit.
True, but keep in mind that Maryland's center Alex Len is a likely lottery pick this year.
Florida Georgetown called now too
At night...I mean, who could've anticipated moisture in the air?
So I got this new laptop a few months ago. This thing is absolutely virgine. I avoid weird software, shady websites, so on and so forth to keep it clean and running fast. That is, until I decide to watch Michigan V Slippery Rock on a crappy, grainy stream, probably straight out of North Korea, and now I close the tab to reveal a bunch of scantily clad "Sluts who need to get laid" from the undoubtedly uber-reputable sex.com.
I'm just glad that I caught it before my wife did, but thanks for the stream and computer HIV.
Secondly, your computer's health is your responsibilty and your's alone and you shall undoubtedly receive zero sympathy from anyone if your computer catches a virus from illegally watching a sports stream. To put it bluntly, if you use any of these pirate stream sites, caveat emptor.
looked like #@$%, and Shabazz Muhammad can't play. So, we may very well have the most dominant post players right now.
I'll take it. Solid win to start off the year. Lots to work on.
What an embarassment for OSU and Marquette. The OSU athletic department has shown very little ability to make intelligent decisions.
Then the same can be said for Marquette, Florida, Georgetown, Syracuse, and SDSU athletic depts....what's your point?
I thought my point was pretty clear: The OSU athletic department has shown very little ability to make intelligent decisions.
My bad. I meant to say your post made no sense then.
Second half, how can I watch now?
