Michigan vs. Purdue basketball open thread
Yes I was hoping they learned their lessons. I guess I learned mine.
and instead of stiffling it, we started taking really goofy shots and leaving even more 3 point shooters open. Purdue hit 2 or 3 in a row and then we kept taking more stupid shots and missing layups and all of a sudden we'd blown our 10 point lead
left,we start taking BAD SHOTS and miss the easy ones = 11 points in last 12 minutes of half...we have blown a 15-10 and 12 point lead in out last 3 games.
Is Robinson again?
I don't even know what to point my finger at anymore...
When other teams get on runs because of our miserable, sorry ass, piece of garbage defense, our offense turns into hot potatoe on the perimeter. No one wants to move, no one wants to hustle, no one can focus enough to make a damn layup....
The part that irks me the most is Coach B sitting on the sideline in silence with a confused/ concerned look on his face... I know it's not his style, but PLEASE YELL AT SOMEONE! This team is so soft and really doesn't need you to pat them on the back after blowing a 11 pt lead to end th half down by 4.
THROW A DAMN CHAIR AT THE REFS ER SOMETHING!
Fuck this team is awful on the road. Fucking pathetic that because you're playing in a different arena with some people screaming loudly causes you to go from a top 10 team to one that can't even beat Penn State. This just reinforces the fact that everyone who thought we would blowout Purdue are idiots.
Burke should get going in the second half. He can't be any worse than he was in the first.
that Michigan had a big who could score? It feels like it's been forever. Morgan has always had the weakest hands of any center in the country, so he does goofy shit to avoid any contact when finishing-- like that ridiculous fade-way jumper he took from two fucking feet away from the basket. Mcgary has no touch and should probably try to force a foul call more often. I had hopes that Horford would develop a low-post game, but now I just hope he doesn't totally shit the bed when he comes out on the floor.
Oh, and Levert had one okay game (the whole 4-8 from 2 stat is misleading since he also whiffed 3 3pointers. His eFG was not good). But he's back in full deer in the headlights mode now. Why the hell is he taking guys one-on-one? It's usually bad whenever any player, even a good one, does this. But LeVert's offensive game is limited under the best of circumstances. Argh.
I completely disagree. McGary has the weakest hands in the country.
No lead is safe with this team. At any moment their defense can become complete lackadaisical fluttering about. I can't think of a recent team that was more frustrating to watch, knowing what they're capable of, yet also knowing that don't yet have the heart to put it all together. GAH!
I'm not saying Bielein is the reason for this, but a team takes on the character and personality of their coach. Same as units in the military. They just really seem to lack the "heart" and "toughness" that our football team preaches. These guys are capable of so much more.
We all remember how that second half went for them. There is a whole 20 minutes left in this one, guys. Come on!
Enough of this. You know why thety shot lights out? Because they were wide-fucking-open for almost every one of them, mainly due to Hardaway's horrid transition defense.
We also need to sideline the "everyone has the game of their life against us" argument. It's not because we're cursed, it's probably just because we let teams do that to us with our terrible defense
Dude, he's trying to be optimistic and he brings up a valid point. Chill out a little.
I mean, they only play 20 minute games in college basketball, right?
can BARWIS give the halftime speech please
Where is the toughness, and inside game we saw against michigan state? I swear to god this team is bipolar. They could be up thirty and I still wouldn't be sure they were going to win the way they give up double digit leads. Sick and tired of this. I'm tired of these nail biters against bad teams.
We played MSU at home. We're playing this game on the road. Playing in front of 13,000 people that hate you is hard. Fortunately, this is the last time this season.
Unfortunately to be a great team you have to learn to win on the road. This team just can't seem to do it.
It shouldn't be THAT hard. People yelling at you shouldn't turn you into a shitty player. I'm so tired of this lame excuse.
The guy I want to see step up (besides Burke - he has only four points) is Hardaway. He was dreadful on D and his shot selection on offense wasn't too good. He's one of our most experienced players and needs to be a leader now.
playing Caris more over Nik, our defense is much better that way. Nik looks lost on D way too often
Watching this team squander opportunities is almost as exhausting as watching newborn twins. You know whats worse? Watching newborn twins while watching us blow leads. At least I have hope that the twins will get better - no hope for our D.

how apropos.
1. Guard the man on the damn perimeter.
2. Finish strong at the hole.
Do those two well and we will win by 10.
knowing that they tried their best, than it is to watch this immensely talented team just snooze games away. I wonder how much better this team could be if Novak was still here. Someone just needs to yell at this team
is the only player that has that "dog" in him. No one else shows up on the road. You gotta thrive in hostile environments and feed off the crowds negative energy. We fold routinely.
Listening to Eric Collins call a sporting event is pure torture.
I think I am watching the second half with the sound off. These announcers are brutal.
Fuck all announcers. They have no place in my sporting life.
Yeah, this is either going to end like the Purdue and Iowa games did earlier this season....or like the Penn State game last week did.
I understand that if you're going to take a couple seconds to catch your breath and stand around, do it on offense. That being said, if we're collectively too tired to run a motion offense, we need subs or a timeout.
Our defense hasn't been that bad. It's the tired offense that leads to one player driving and taking an awful shot. After that it's a long rebound and an easy transition bucket for Purdue.
I have a feeling UM will get off to a fast start in the second half...
has no confidence in his 3's anymore it seems
As he shouldn't
I'll say it again, but this team really misses Novak and Douglass. They would step up and keep the team from falling apart when something went bad.
I feel like if Novak were on this team, we'd have two losses. Pure speculation.
We should have been up 25 in the first 8 min with the amount of turnovers they had.
Stauskas and Morgan both looked good on that possesion
Weren't referring to the possession where Morgan was slow to rotate and got faked by a no look pass.
Simple, get Marchuch in foul trouble
Has anyone else noticed how slow they change the score on the banner on your TV?
Definitely noticed.
Contested 3? Unnecessary.
Edit: Guess it wasn't too contested, but I feel like we don't have to settle for those.
then GRIII and Trey take bad shots
No one on this team can rebound.
your man Morgan.
God bless America, this team is frustrating.
Play 2 bigs!
