This is a big game against the Woody division champion*.
Also on deck:
Arizona vs Stanford
LSU vs Florida
Illinois vs Wisconsin
I miss noon Michigan games.
Being on the west coast, I sure as hell don't.
I loved noon games when I was on the West Coast. I'd roll out of bed, get some breakfast and watch the kickoff. Then I was done by noon and had the rest of my day open.
To each their own.
I'd love west coast noon games. Start out great then you have the whole rest of the day to do whatever. Also why I love formula 1 races since theyre usually early or in the middle of the night.
Race coverage starts at 1:30 AM here on the east coast, the DVR is my best friend for Formula 1.
Agreed. Game over by lunch. Wife has zero time to get annoyed. The rest of the day is wife day.
Can't find it posted who isn't playing, and surprises on who didn't travel?
Off to a wedding, I'll have to watch on the Iphone.
Slam your hand in the car door or something...damn fall weddings.
See if you can find your balls on the iPhone too.
there's an app for that?
But you'll know if they're there...
There is an app for that. It's call iDivorce...kind of pricey though. Half of everything you own.
Dress list notes: No Stephen Hopkins, Richard Ash, Brandon Moore. Marvin Robinson, Brennen Beyer are here.

Beyer is dressed to play.
Leman needs to go back to the Stars and Stripes tie
Have layover in Detroit airport - in terminal C - trying to find a place with B1G network - do I have to go back to terminal A to the Fox sports bar or does anyone know a place out in terminal B/C that has the game? Thanks
the pre-game cam on btn.com is pretty cool...first time I've seen that
Ryan's flow looking extra beautiful pre game.
Was Kovacs limping?
It's just to make Purdue think they have a chance...
Have an extra bulky brace on his knee or have I just missed it every game?
it. Not sure he looks quite right, seems to be limping slightly. Announcers did just mention something about an injury in practice.
Does anyone else think that Texas Tech looks like the convict team from the remake of the Longest Yard? I'm wondering if they copied the design. It's working for them so far, though. I'd like to see Zona and Tech win, tired of hearing about how awful NDs schedule is. Stanford and OU are both severely overrated.
Lets Go Blue!
What's this nonsense?
Is there any live streaming online anywhere? I'm in Vegas, only have Mac or iPad, so it has to be compatible with that. I would use Big Ten Network 2 Go, but Comcast isn't a provider covered for streaming yet.
Any help would be great. GO BLUE!!!
What site are you using??? I need one too, and I'm on a Mac or an iPad. The First Row site was giving me compatibility issues.
Still having issues, want iLivid to be downloaded, but it's a Window's .exe file. Maybe it's not meant to be?
There is also an HD stream available for the Michigan game (16:00 time) here: http://www.vipboxsports.eu/sports/american-football.html but it also requires downloading an HD player from vipbox. Hope this helps.
Hooray ground game.
Is always fun.
Why are we running sideways?
They got good guys in the middle
Yep, just keep sealing out the playside DE for 5 yards a carry.
Fitz =/= Funchess
He needs to just hit him for the first down, but I think Denard was trying to hit him over the shoulder in stride and Toussaint turned. Not making excuses, he has to understand what's important and who he is throwing to.
Ermagerhd 4th and 4 conversion with DG!
that decision at first, but all is well that ends well.
If you guys say so.
Looks like a TD to me. His elbow touches but the nose of ball is over the white. Should be overturned.
Um... Hm... Wow okay.
That's a Touchdown.
clear to me.
Elbow may have been down...
Vincent Smith TD pass. Here we go!
I can go for Vince Smith pass right about now.
Too soon? Jk
Too slow actually :)
Cool, now we get to score the touchdown twice!
Wow. 2 in a row #61?
Wow. 2 in a row #61?
Your assumed unintentional double post is so absolutely perfect.
Yea it was only right for a dp to come with #61 getting the same penalty two times in a row.
td anyway. Great opening drive, that is how you manhandle a team upfront. Nice job by Borges of getting back to the basics on that drive.
If we keep up the long ground-based drives, this game will be over by 6:00.
i'm glad you reviewed our 4 losses the past 2 years and realized that we win when we RUN the ball and lose when we don't.
what was that 15 runs and 3 passes = TD? all day baby!
Sure, lets hope they keep it up!
like he is making an attempt to get back to the basics after the bye week. That is exactly what many of us have been asking for.
that playcalling./gameplan today is the same as it was against ND? Think you need to rewatch the ND game if you think execution on the player's part is only difference. Sigficantly harder to turn it over, when your running the ball and throwing a lot of short quick patterns.
Al was clearly being genuine when he said he wasn't happy with his playcalling and was looking to make improvements in the bye week. Those are his words, not the fans, not sure why it is so hard for some people to accept that he did in fact do that or that his playcalling did in fact need improvement.
In a game we trailed almost all the game we still ran 41 to 25 times passing. We weren't throwing bombs that were intercepted. Denard was just hitting ND guys in the number. This game even his incomplete have been thrown away or where only the receiver can get it.
A coach is never satisfied and always looking to improve. He wasn't in any way saying "the fans are right...we need to change everything; I suck." I don't know why it's so hard for some fans to accept that if Denard doesn't throw interceptions the play calling probably has us up 31-13 against a Notre Dame too.
playcalling wasn't optimum and made some adjustments in the bye week . I simply taking him at his word. Let's be clear here, nobody is saying Al Borges is a bad cordinator who needs to fired or anything. Also, not sure where you are getting the change everything line from. I don't think anybody thought a radical overvaul was needed, just some tweaks here and there.
I think Al is at the very least a good cordinator, and will be a good fit into the future. For now he just has to work with what he has.
What a classic look. I'm old and tired of the zany alternative uniforms.
Didn't matter but looked like Denard was in. When his elbow hit shadow of the ball is ever the line and you can see from other shadows that they are direct overhead to slightly behind
But even if not it's the one foot line not one yard line. Why don't they review that as well and move the ball? Can be the difference.
Jake Ryan FTW
Jake fucking Ryan!
Loving this d
3 and out. Wear out that d
up so far today.
Great Defensive stands so far.
Whoa. J.T. Floyd cut his dreads. I didn't recognize him out there.
How do you like them apples, Danny Hope?
Did Floyd cut his dreads?
Couldn't have had a better start to the game!!
Am I late to the party or is this new?
Where is JT's Hair!?!
I haz a sad...
Did J.T. Floyd cut his dreads?
Loved seeing gallon pissed he didn't block that db into the ground. Good morals
He's done it before. The first time it went for positive yardage I believe
They will throw the ball every 20 downs or so, right?
2-3 TE and a throw to Funchess or DG.
to try and hit them with a playaction or quick throws to the outside, at some point. Purdue is starting to stack the box.
20 run plays versus 3 pass plays. I love it. Play action is going to get going soon.
there if they want it. Purdue has no choice, but to stack the box and bite.
Tell me about it. That first scoring drive was a mutha.
but I'm glad we're on BTN today. All ESPN channels here just went dead.
Barnum has to block someone for Denard.
what a fucking grab
Amen! One-handed, behind him and he takes a hit and holds on.
Denard can really fire the football when he has his feet set and steps into it.
has time he is fully capable of making good throws. Obviously, where things go awry, is when pressure is there. Of course, that is case with most QB's.
Good job O!
Way to stay patient and set your feet Denard.
First quarter yardage: M 111, P 8. First downs M 8, P 0.
This is a team that looks like it knows the BiG is there's for the taking. Well done so far.
If he had a headset on and was yelling and doing some coaching, we'd be doing so much better than 14-0!
Zona 13 Stanford 14 going into halftime.
Boooo no first downs!
Only about 2 yards per carry though. It has to be better than that
No time to let up!
with Kovacs trying to cover downfield today. Good thing Purdue has a pretty mediocre passing game.
Zook it Purdue!
And you are correct sir
Holy crap, Arizona's QB has thrown 41 passes in the first half
I hope Hoke keeps the standard D on the field for this 4th and 2 but puts Gallon back for the kick; whether or not Purdue has their punter on the field.
by definition, that would not be "standard D"
I didn't feel like listing every other defender...
If this gets out of hand, I would love to see them rest Kovacs. He's a little hobbled and is to important for the rest of the season.
Let's go D! Should of punted coach.
lol nice 4th down play purdue...
Love the call hope!!!!
Raymon Taylor INT return for TD.
we will take it.
Somewhere the Cancer Kicker is smiling!
Wait a second something must be wrong with my TV. I'ts showing Michigan ahead 21-0 and with EVERYONE picking this vaunted Purdue team to mop the floor with our sad sack Wolverines it simply must be broken or something.
Sweet baby jesus
can you say game over?
Special Teams ftw!!!
yakety sax show has broken out for Purdue.
Our secondary is going to be unreal for the foreseeable future.
Let's please play them again in Indy!
dancing from Fitz on that play. That has been a problem for Fitz this year.
I think all those people were chanting something different
were chanting "kill" to me. Keep it classy Purdue, but I suppose when you have Danny Hope as your coach what do you expect.
Danny Hope's mustache is quivering...
A perfect game of Football is impossible.
5 yards cost us 3 points.
Those fat lady legs cant kick it 44 freakin yards????
not enough leg for 44 yds? what is this 1925?
I think we just 100% confirmed Gibbons range. 43 yds.
The lack of brunettes could not be overcome.
Why do we seem to love chubby kickers with limited range?
Cut his locks?!?
considered crazy. Given how the rest of league has played and schedule UM has played, I don't think it would crazy to put them in the mix. Big Ten is a bit muddy at the moment, not sure there is one team that could be definatly called the best team right now.
awesome play there on that pitch. props to this guy and his career. came in unheralded and made himself a solid corner. who would have thought he would be our corner stud right now when we had highly rated guys like cissoko and turner a few years ago.
clearly gibbons had to sacrafice power for much better accuracy. sucks that his leg is only good from 40 and in though.
hold here. Don't want to see any kind of a momemtum shift after the missed field goal.
Looks like he had his right foot down when he caught it.
What is Wile's range? Maybe would be better to give him a shot on the longer ones.
Longer. I think they actually intended to do that at one point.
but who knew gibbons' range doesn't extend beyond 44 yds. i'm sure the coaches didn't.
So, what channel can I flip to for the halftime show where Herbie eats crow?
Purdue has a top 10 cheerleading squad. Ridiculously cute.
That's a fucking fumble
Maybe #3? Muffed kick count?
Statistically it's the same as recovering an onside kick. No turnover.
Those fuckers got away with one.
there, not to mention the quick forward progress stopped determination there. Is this the same crew from the Iowa game last year? Looks like the same crew to me.
Karma owes us now.
Well, the officials spotted them 3 points. (6 with the penalty before our kick)
"1,2,3,4 First Down.....B**CH!!!" Stay classy West Lafayette *rolling my eyes*
I am convinced that ALL refs, from T-Ball on up subconsciencely try to "even things up" when one team jumps out on another. No way can they overrule that out of bounds catch and then a fumble becomes no fumble and no review.
and the Zebra taketh away.
I think we just pulled the ump from the Atlanta game last night.
Love me some Gallon.
Jeremy jackson. Still can't block.
draw it up, but we will take it. Pretty evident that Gallon is guy who needs to get the ball in space.
DR to DG!
Qb to Qb touchdown. I love it.
very david terrell-esque there.
Devin is a potential 1st rd pick as a WR...
I don't see how they turn him back into a QB next year. Roll the dice with the freshman or the backup. If he's given a fifth year he will be a huge weapon at WR
easy there, buddy. let's keep it a secret.
in his face to boot. Great route by Gardner as well.
When you throw passes under pressure to the guys who are in the same color jersey. Even from the pocket.
Borges has used the first four games. With the exception of that throw and a maybe one other throw he has given Denard mostly easy throws to build his confidence. Borges is calling plays to take advantage of his offenses strengths today. Clearly, Borges was being honest when he said he wasn't happy with his own playcalling in the bye week, and has made some changes.
Beautiful. And Denard is #eating
Suck it Herbie!
Hell yeah bitches. Bury these pretenders
Really need to work on stopping on first contact on kick-offs.
I like our secondary right now!
Come on 1 more TD for the half
That last play Purdue had three guys trying to hold up Jake Ryan.
Looks terrible. Can't tell if its our d, they're O, or a combo of both?
I'm in love with this defense right now. Last game, and today they've been one of the best units in the country.
Fumble? Why does Michigan Football hurt those it loves the worst?
really? you have to see that coming.
Wow. Wouldn't be right without a goofy turnover.
was that not helmet to helmet?
Not a penalty on a running back. Only QB and WR iirc. Once a QB or WR run past the line of scrimmage they're treated as a rb and can be hit. That's my interpretation at least.
correct according to the rulebook, helmet to helmit is supposed to be called regardless of the player. Now granted in practice you are correct that referees, for whatever reason, are more leniant in those situations. That isn't right according to the rulebook though.
If its intentional then it's called every time but a defenseless receiver or QB it's also called. A RB is never considered defenseless.
Oh turnovers... Must you rear your ugly head? (Great play by Purdue though)
Another pick six would be nice...
Floyd is being picked on??
need that at all.
What was Campbell doing out there?!?
Making a play.
They're getting away with holding like crazy!
let's just get to halftime at 28-6 and I will feel awesome.
Come on D. Big stop here!
101 yd pick six. Let's do this!
Damn again. At least we get the ball first.
Need a TD on the first 2nd half drive. No panic yet.
Unacceptable to lose the fumble on first down, up 28-3.
happens. Hard to play perfect for an entire half.
I'm just saying that you don't need to do anything big there. Your only job is hanging onto the ball hen you're killing another team.
I think we should fire Borges! He's putting Denard in a position to fumble!
oh btw, STFU dude!
Did I mention anything about Borges? Fuck you.
Saved so everyone can tell that jonvalk is on his period.
Agree. You have the chance to extend the score to either 31-3 or 35-3, applying the proverbial dagger. Now, it's still somewhat of a game and the pressure is on to score to open the second half.
Sometimes the other team's gotta eat as well. They RPS'ed the shit out of that play: unblocked blitz right into the zone read to which the play was not designed to read that blitzer. Don't like it anymore than you do, but it just happens sometimes. More pissed at the D for letting a TD.
to say the D pissed you off, they played a great half and most of the points they've given up in the last game and a half has been off TO's
Defense was put in a bad spot. They've been lights out the last two games.
I'm not overly pissed at the D for giving up a 30 yard scoring drive after stopping Purdue two plays before. But choosing which I lay more blame on, it's the D opposed to a blown up zone read on the O.
end what was otherwise a great half. Have to guard against a momemtum shift to start the second half.
That's the big thing. Even if we go 3 and out we'd have killed their spirit by not allowing a TD in the first half.
Lets hope for more of the same in the second
P.S. Football is NOT better with a rules guru!
Terry Hawthorne being stretchered off for Illinois and doesn't appear to be moving. Ugly scene
Ed. : Hands are moving, that at least is good news..
Hey, as long as those limbs are moving, the outlook becomes much brighter.
that could have been even better, we're 1 yard from a FG and a drive at the end there would have made it anywhere from a 34 or 38 to 3 lead, oh well.
Let's come out in the 2nd half and kick more ass, Can you imagine how good our defense will be going forward with more experience and GREAT coaching!
dammit, should not have lost that fumble, we're looking at 35-3 vs 28-10. nonetheless, denard's playing well. i like our chances.
gotta say on a sidenote, however, that i'm really happy for penn state. we don't play them this year, and given their situation, i want them to win out. when they come out on the other end eligible for bowl games/playoffs, the B1G needs them to be top-notch.
Biggest concern so far: still lack of Fitz production. What's going on with him? Denard gains enough yards that I don't think the OL is a big problem...
from Fitz at times. To be fair though, the blocking needs to be better on RB runs, and the difference in the holes for Denard and the RB's could partially be explained by an extra blocker being there for the QB runs.
I wonder if this is what we should have been seeing during 2010 if we had an RB. It's kid of like that in 2011, we established that Fitz can run, and now teams are keying on him, which is opening it up for Denard. Hell, as long as we are gaining yards, and more importantly, scoring, I'm fine with it.
one bad turnover make me feel like we played like sh*t
o many turnovers will do that to your mind. I wouldn't mind getting through a game with no turnovers.
Not really OT. It's a games open thread. Discuss away!
These rap songs need to stop, they are awful
Creative with the current themes of the games. Not easy to do....
We own Penn State
Really be able to turn on the jets just once...
before he breaks one.
Come on O.
His fundamentals are hopeless...
the first backfoot throw today. His fundamentals are fine when he has time, pressure does cause some backfoot throws though. Hopeless to me, would mean that the fundamentals are out of wack most of time, and I don't believe that is the case with Denard. To be honest, I would say questionable decision making is a bigger issue than throwing mechanics.
Your posting is hopeless
He had a clear running lane, and no open receiver, so he throws it.
like there might have been a open receiver, and he missed him.
What heck does that mean?
Anyone who's watching...
Thank you D.
Any guess why Wile punted?
He can take a full swing without getting a touchback--sort of like using a short iron.
Toussaint still unimpressive. Gallon is still the man.
Nice move to get out of Denard's way.
Nice run by DR tho
To much sideways running for Fitz and its not his fault. It's the design.
Damn it, Fitz!
Fitz just doesn't look good.
Edit: Smith just took a SHOT.
on the option.....bummer
Man. Two horrid Fitz runs and an ill-advised option. We have a beast in Funchess and no attempt to use him in the red zone?! I mean, I know I don't know shit compared to the coaches, but wtf?
what I'm reading from you
I'm not fond of the end around on the zone read. I would rather see Fitz hit in between the tackles than trying to get to the outside.
we're not seeing Rawls or Hayes at all, I'd like to see what Hayes could esp
Very conservative in the red zone. Still nervous!
look as good as their blocking. For whatever reason, blocking for RB's continues to be an issue. It is pretty confusing to be honest, since there are gaping holes for Denard. The difference can't be explained entirely by the extra blocker on QB runs either and in general the level of push seems to be completely different.
There is a little too much dancing by Fitz, but to be fair making guys miss is a requirement when multiple guys are in your face. I know people want to look at Fitz and think somethign is wrong with him, but he had more room to operate last year. At the end of the day though, the defense still has to make a choice, they either have to focus on stopping Fitz or Denard, it's very difficult to stop both.
Our D is legit.
Guys, we're winning 31-10 at West Lafeyette. Definitely need to do some things better (like everybody else) but not a bad way to play the game.
is make big plays....I love that guys game
And a great stop by the D here on another 3 and out
Acquiring laptop computers.
Amazing right now!
Gallon always scares the sh*t out of me on those pint returns.
Arizona starting to pull away from Stanford. 48-34. Scott has thrown 63 passes already..
It seems like on offense the philosophy is "Hurry up and score!" And when the other teams offense is on its also "Hurry up and score!"
