The Defense won the game, they weren't perfect, but they gave great effort, and never let up. Kudos to the defensive line, they pressured and sacked the QB, shut down the run, and were the best unit on the field.

Michigan gave up two very long time consuming drives, fortunate that each ended up as FGs only. The INT put them in a bad stop, but they still had a chance to stop them on 3rd and goal and they didn't. It was disturbing to see Belton averaging 7.0 ypc after his first 8ish runs.

But after that? Brilliant. The DL started stepping up more and making it much harder on Hackenburg. Mattison made awesome adjustments. They couldn't run anymore. They just couldn't move the ball again, and that was fantastic defense on PSU's last drive at the exact moment they were needed the most.

The refs bailed the hands team out, but after the doubly botched Darboh catch from last week...Michigan was owed one of those for sure.

This thread has 6 comments well after the end of the game.  That is a testimony to the satisfaction with the D in the second half.  Game winner.  Well done.

Well, let's see how much activity there is tomorrow, but this is the quietest I think I've seen the board after a game, even a night game. Wins are usually quieter because there aren't a million firing threads but still, I think a lot of people are happy but also not that excited about a game that still doesn't inspire much confidence about the rest of the season.

Have to say the D played well in the second half. First time in awhile I have seen the D dig deep and make plays in the fourth quarter.

Defense was solid and we even got a pick 3. A very solid performance but we will see how they are against MSU. That game will tell if we've turned any kind of corner.

I don't think there's a lot that needs to be picked over here - 214 yards of offense is all Penn State got, and while Penn State will Penn State on offense, it was a very nice comprehensive effort overall from the the defense this time, holding the Nittany Lions to less than 5 yards per pass attempt and less than 2 yards per carry on the ground.

great finish. They basically only gave up 6 pts (since DG basically gifted the other 7) and shut down a passing attack I was sure would shred us.

I doubt everything has been solved, but a big win this week

If Lewis isn't the most complete CB we've had in years, I don't know who is. Given his overall game experience, he is leaps and bounds above where most of our DB's have been in recent years.

I think your-re Right On This.  But the WHY--   who knows  . . .

but nonetheless--  if it works, It Works  . . .

For  me--  Mattison has made a lot of Bad D-calls over the years with Hoke.  BUT--  when somethng Starts Working

--  you look to WHY, it is working  . . . and yeah--

Look to the Hwell Issue  . . .
