Michigan vs OSU All-Time best basketball team

Submitted by LandryHD on

I found this articale pretty interesting and really fun to look through all the rivalry teams all-time teams. I started to think about who would have the best starting 5 and I keep looking at Georgetown. Whats your opinion? Also, who would you replace on the All- Michigan team?

I'll admit that I don't know much about Rudy T. as a player, but I'm not sure about that one and I definitely don't get why Crawford's on that list.  And if I'm taking a second Fab Fiver, it's Juwan, not Jalen (partly for Juwan's defense and partly because Michigan has more options at guard).  Give me:

PG - Trey Burke

SG - Cazzie Russell

SF - Glen Rice

PF/C - Juwan Howard

PF/C - Chris Webber

...Cazzie Russell, Rudy Thomjanovich, and Glen Rice.

Cazzie: 3-time All American, 30 ppg average, 2 final fours, 3 Big 10 titles, and 1966 college player of the year.  First pick of 1966 NBA draft.  Crisler has been termed "the House that Cazzie built".

Rudy: still holds UofM rebounding records, 1970 All American, 2nd pick in 1970 NBA draft.

Glen: most points in UofM history, les UofM to an NCAA Championship, All American in 1989

My five would be a Beilien lead Burke, Rose, Russell, Howard, and Webber. All great passers, solid D, and dangerous anywhere on the floor. I could watch Burke to Webber pick and roll all day.

This has me thinking that the NBA should scrap the obstacle course/dunk contest/other lame shenanigans for their next All-Star Weekend.

Instead, put teams together with guys that all went to the same college and play a mini-tournament. 5-7 current NBA players from 16 schools, single-elimination, with games being two 10 minute halves.

Something like this would actually be...interesting. And even though Michigan wouldn't exactly be a "one-seed," at least they'd have enough bodies.

The idea of Jalen Rose over Trey Burke is laughable.  Burke not only was easily the 2nd best player to ever wear the Maize and Blue on the hardwood, but he might even have been the best, especially considering he was here for just 2 years.

I don't agree. I watched them both play in person and Rose was a monster. He was a better passer and shooter. I'd say it's a toss up on defense. I'd give Burke athleticism and speed. Jalen was a winner and it was a different time. I could totally see anyone picking Trey over him but it's not laughable at all if someone picks Jalen over Trey. They were both amazing college players.

Somewhat telling that none of their starters for Michigan or MSU are from the past decade. Not that the players now aren't amazing (like trey Burke), but we have had some really elite players come through Michigan basketball over the years. Even the third or fourth team would be stars in their day.

This is a pretty awesome All Time list!

Georgetown should have Reggie Williams. He was sick for them.

Jim Jackson was better than Redd and Conley.

Cincinnati's team is pretty damn good!

Seems like Indiana's team should be better than Zeller and Gordon on them.

Syracuse = GREAT!
