Michigan vs. Notre Dame Second Half Open Thread

Down 10-0 at the half with 5 INTs. Can Hoke get the band back together in time to beat the Irish for the fourth year in a row?

Denard has a ton of heart. He is a good kid with a ton of character but I love all the people on this board who last week were talking about how much Denard has developed as a QB.  The kid is a great running QB.  The same issues that plagued Denard three years ago still plagued him today: decision making and throwing mechanics.    Today's performance just reinforces all of the Kool Aid that many posters on this board drank after the UMass blowout.

Our D played very good, better than expected.  Our OLine played well.  Our Team is headed in the right direction.  I love Hoke's comments after halftime.   Go Blue!

1. We are 0-0 in b10. 2. Rest of conference is somewhere between a tire fire and sort of OK. 3. Defense looked better at lots of things today. Got off the field quickly while the offense was coughing it up, stretched things out from side to side better than they have, and d-line play was improved. Denard has eight or nine B10 games left. Time for Al to reset and decide to use his skills and not force him to be a quarterback. His fundamentals are still retry weak, and his decision-making is just pretty poor. Hope that Fitz continues to come along to give us a run-first look.

So I'm actually encouraged by this horrible horrible loss. Here's why:

  • The defense really stepped up, especially against the run. Congrats to the linebackers, who looked a lot more assertive than they have previously.
  • The offense DID have some success before committing yet another egregious turnover. Odds are Denard's not going to have another game even remotely close to this bad in the turnover department. If we only have one or two (or just have our customary success in the red zone), we win this game by a couple touchdowns
  • Norfleet is a machine.

Listen, we all know that Michigan does and will have at the very least a competant offense. I was encouraged by what I saw on defense and special teams. This bodes well for competition in the New Big East.

Also, WTF Lewan? He got torched on the first couple of drives, not sure if he stepped up later or not without looking at the UFR.

I love all those posters last week talking about how Denard has progressed as a QB.  Reality Check.  Keep drinking that Sugar Free Kool Aid!   Denard is a good kid but he is purely a running QB..  His decision making and his mechanics aren't much better than two years ago.

The coaching staff has us going in the right direction but as many other posters have said prior, we are a couple years away from bring real.    Hopefully, we don't sh%& the bed in the pathetic B10.  The B10 has been terrible for many many years but this year it has reached a new low.  Hopefully, we can roll the pathetic B10.   Go Blue!

I got slammed for saying DRob isn't a QB. He can't throw a spiral most of the time, so how can the balls be accurate. He is a great player that should be running the option. I predict we don't lose another game. Our defense played awesome!

Denard maybe should play WR and Gardner play QB. He just plain and simple had the deer in the headlights look all night, just like Alabama. I've seen enough
