Michigan vs Northwestern 3:30 on BTN
Michael Spath @Spath_Wolverine 4m
That collective groan you just heard was the media with BTN announcing Michigan-Northwestern at 3:30 pm.

beat me by a second!

I literally groaned as I read this.
Get me a time machine back to the good days when games were noon/1pm.
I've been watching a lot of Schembechler Era games lately. The early starts and the defense. I'd give anything to have lived and watched Michigan in those days.

1:00 kickoffs, TV time outs only at a couple of games a year--and an offensive line made up mostly of 5th year seniors.

Sonofabitch! Do we not play noon games any more?

It's going to be a cold and dark one at Ryan Field. Ugh.

Wait...so why does everyone hate 3:30 kickoffs again? I personally like having the extra time to get everything done I need to, get ready and watch Michigan followed by the 8p primetime games.

I can't speak for other people (and surely other people's issues will not be the same as mine), but afternoon kick-offs run afoul of evening plans that I would have made weeks before the kick-off times are announced. I missed PSU because I had to be downtown by 8pm for a live show. I missed IU because I had to be at MoMA by 7pm for a film screening. I missed UConn (different situation, obviously) because I was taking part in a community event.
Not attending the game puts me in a different position than other posters, I realize, but getting stuff done before noon then having the late afternoon/evenings totally free is my preference.

More night games. More 3:30 kickoffs!
It helps with recruiting and helps with keeping the rest of the country interested.
No down here in the south likes watching an 11 AM game, I can only imagine how the west coasters feel watching a 9 or 10 AM game.
U-M vs MAC/FCS games at noon
U-M vs BCS schools 3:30 or later.
Make it happen, Dave.

I disagree. 3:30 games on BTN are terrible for recruiting, and terrible for "keeping the rest of the country interested."
3:30 games in November on BTN are going against the best games of the week on ABC, CBS and FOX. They get essentially zero viewers (other than the fans of the schools involved). Much better to be on ESPN at noon, with the College Gameday lead-in. Even ESPN2, ESPNU or BTN at noon would bring more viewers than BTN at 3:30.

I wish the OSU game was at 11PM on BTN.

A. You have nothing to watch at noon. Everything else sucks horribly. There used to be three good football slots a day. Now there are only two, unless your team is playing at noon.
B. You can't watch the SEC game of the week, the ND game (if it is worth watching), or any other good 3:30 game, unless you DVR it and bend over backwards to not find out the score of that game, which is virtually impossible nowadays, because scores are everywhere. My football watching is at an all time low, in no small part due to the fact that I have gotten to watch only 2 or 3 3:30 games all year long that weren't spoiled for me.
C. It screws up plans if you have family life. There is more stuff to do in late afternoon and early evening, and it takes a lot more marital capital to watch a 3:30 game than it does a noon game.
D. If you go to the game, it competely consumes your day unless you live really close to the stadium. After a noon game, there is still time to do a lot of stuff. But depending on where you live, you might get home from a 3:30 game at 9 PM after all is said and done. It just kind of sucks.

God this motherfucking sucks. Why is it that OSU gets a fucking noon kick every week and we don't? I haven't eaten a single Saturday evening dinner this season that didn't interfere with Michigan football. Not to mention, 3:30 is when half of the games worth watching are played, which means that you can't DVR them without getting them spoiled while watching the Michigan game. And, you have absolutely nothing to watch at noon, because nobody plays interesting football games at noon anymore. This just sucks in every possible way.

and was going to take my family to the game. Unfortunately Northwestern is trying to maximize their profit margin by "guaranting" I pay the lowest price; hense tickets are selling for $99 each. Thanks Northwestern!!!
Edit: hence

Fortunately for me I've got lunch with my wife and that battle-axe, hypercritical, mother-in-law of mine. By the 4th quarter you'll be wishing you could all join me.
Have fun watching the game boys.
