Michigan vs MSU MBB Open Thread

Submitted by Rather be on BA on

T-minus 60 minutes to game time.  I just got off a long day of work and am looking forward to a great game.  Figured we could fire this thing up early here to get some conversation going for this huge game.

If Michigan wins today we will be the first team to beat 3 top ten teams in a row in a season since Iowa did in 1986-87 (per ESPN stats and info).

Go Blue!  BEAT STAEE.

could have used that 3 by irvin.  JB will be able to design some back picks on these bastards in the second half.  they are playing too aggressively up top not to take advantage of that.  i'm looking at you GRIII.

College basketball, with the shorter three point line and worse shooters than the NBA, makes it easy to pack the paint and win games. Look at Jim Boeheim and his 2-3 zone. That would never work in the NBA, but in college it can be dominant.

Predicting we're gonna get screwed by th officials in EL is like predicting it's gonna be dark tonight.  Yet lots of people (and I mean LOTS) go "you cant say that.....you dont know".

I guess if I had been born during the day and had never seen nighttime I would question somebody telling me it's going to be dark.  After all - i've never SEEN dark before - how can this old guy know?

Trust me guys-we're gonna get fucked by the officials in EL.  And it's gonna be dark tonight.

Stauskas being humbled a little bit (re: nobody can stay in front of me). levert and Irvin look shaky but both have hit threes. refs suck etc. msu playing good d but also getting away with some stuff... game is far from over

Beilein will have to work a miracle to win this one. Harris is on a different level than Stauskas. Nik just doesn't have the athleticism and quickness to match him. Their backup bigs are better than our bigs on defense and on the glass. We don't have anyone that can penetrate against this defense.

Yup. Some bad calls each way. The refs talk is sour grapes right now. We are doing a lot of things poorly and are one dimensional with jacking of jumpers almost all of the time. I've seen much worse games called. The rate of bitching on refs right now is ridiculous. If we could actually drive the ball and put defenders in bad positions somehow, we might be able to make State foul and get it called

Harris has done a great job of shutting down Stauskas, we don't really have an offense going and we're only down by 6 -- despite the refs as well.  Just keep it within single digits until the end.

Irvin is atrotious. Can't defend and is scared to merely DRIBBLE the ball. Most guys who just jack up 3s are better at that aspect than he is too.

LeVert is far, far better than Irvin. He's a little too confident with his shot, but Irvin is the most disappointing basketball freshman I have ever seen. He literally does NOTHING but shoot and embarrasses himself when he tries to do anything else.
