Bellomy will play 75% of that game. Think about that for a minute.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:12 AM ^
he's switching to defense?
October 13th, 2014 at 11:18 AM ^
I think you are mistaken. Shane Morris has been cleared to play, and is the backup quarterback.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:20 AM ^
Except this past Saturday, apparently.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:39 AM ^
wooooooooooooooooooooooooosh
October 13th, 2014 at 2:51 PM ^
...doesn't mean the coaches should feel comfortable playing you.
We already saw what Morris could do on a bum ankle. Jack shit. Just because he may have been medically cleared doesn't mean anything.
We also saw Gardner who was medically cleared, and he played and was somewhat successful.
We need to quit acting like just because Morris was cleared to play that he really should've been in the game. Plenty of guys get injured, get cleared by doctors and still sit another week or two.
Happens in all sports too, not just Brady Hoke and Shane Morris.
And the thought is "why would you say he is the #2?"
For a number of reasons.
- Because last time you saw him, he was the starter...he's not the starter anymore, he's the backup
- Because he IS the #2 QB, but wasn't cleared until late in the week and Bellomy had already had a weeks worth of practice as the backup for the PSU game.
I used the UF QB situation as another example. They had their QB miss a full week of practice due to a rape allegation. He was cleared Friday, and they still said he wasn't going to play vs. LSU because he hadn't prepared for them all week. But he was available. He was with the team and ready to go should Muschamp change his mind.
Why is anyone believing what Rod shit-on-all-things-Michigan Gilmore says anyway?
October 13th, 2014 at 3:55 PM ^
tl;dr
October 14th, 2014 at 7:54 AM ^
It'd save you from bitching about something you shouldn't be bitching about and allow you to focus your bitching on something more bitch worthy.
October 13th, 2014 at 12:13 PM ^
I'm sure I'm missing a bit of news or a board-wide inference based on pressers or the twitters, but didn't Hoke say Gardner would be back for Sparty?
October 13th, 2014 at 12:35 PM ^
Oh, well if Hoke said it.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:10 AM ^
I was hoping for a later start. I'm hanging out with some Sparty fans later. Now I'm going to have to deal with them rubbing that game in my face all night.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:48 AM ^
it was going to be a night game? 3:30 was the latest it could have feasibly started unless Hollis and Brandon have both changed their tune completely. And frankly I am pretty surprised this is not a noon ESPN/BTN network game. This was a pretty good result for you if you are looking at it from just the "amount of time after embarrasment until bedtime" angle.
October 13th, 2014 at 12:34 PM ^
Of course you're hanging out with Sparty fans later, you are one.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:09 AM ^
Fuck. I really hate playing in hostile environments at any times other than noon.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:47 AM ^
and they are not that good. They are overrated.
Michigan can beat them if DG plays.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:55 AM ^
is more vulnerable than it was, that is for sure. I have a feeling they are going to play more bump than you saw them play against Purdue, et. al. With Green out, Norfleet bubbles and Hayes screens are basically going to be our "run game" and I think State will press us at the line. Funchess is going to have a really big game for that to be a game (not to mention Peppers being available).
State is not the State of last year but to say they are "not very good" is pushing it. And Dantonio hates Michigan with a passion so there will not be any looking past this game or State being flat. Make no mistake, it is going to take a moderate miracle for us to win that game.
October 13th, 2014 at 12:27 PM ^
Ummm... they are good where we are weak on defense. Their run offense is not great but their pass offense (when Cook is on) is very good. Cook has been off the past 2 weeks but if he is anywhere near on you can see what happens with Gary Nova. And Tony Lippett is playing out of his mind as a #1 WR.
As for MSU's defense, again they are good at where we suck. How to beat Gardner? You blitz him repeatedly.
How do you beat MSU's defense? You need a QB who can throw repeated passes to the wide sde of the field with accuracy. Then once you loosen MSU up you take downfield shots. That pass that Gardner threw up and Funchess snatched from the lazy PSU DB would be intercepted by the very well coached MSU DBs who can high point balls like very few units in the country.
Their defense is not as good as last year's but where they are weak requires an accurate QB to exploit. We dont have that. Get in 2nd and 3rd and long and you are going to see A gap blitzes all day just like we did last year. And we know how that ends.
They are a better than Utah and Minnesota and we had both those games at home. UM is their Super Bowl - they will have more emotion for any UM game than we'd have for a Rose Bowl game. And its at their place.
October 13th, 2014 at 2:16 PM ^
Well shit, that kind of takes the shine off of the game...
October 13th, 2014 at 12:43 PM ^
In some games last season too, particularly in the first half of the season, but they still kicked our ass. I'd like to say we have an okay chance as our defense should play well but I'm afraid our offense will be lucky to even score a TD against Sparty, and I hate that it's in EL.
October 13th, 2014 at 2:32 PM ^
...I'm strill trying to figure out how they managed to lose to Notre Dame last year.
October 13th, 2014 at 2:59 PM ^
called pass interference on MSU pretty much the entire game... that was basically the only way ND was able to move the ball down the field...
October 13th, 2014 at 7:54 PM ^
They were still struggling to ID a starting QB. Recall C. Cook had played most of the game but Dantonio summoned a cold A. Maxwell to play the last offensive series of the game and he incompleted every pass.
October 13th, 2014 at 12:45 PM ^
MSU always looks worse in the weeks leading up to the Michigan game. They'll be prepared on Oct. 25. I wouldn't be surprised if they used time planning for Michigan last week instead Purdue.
October 13th, 2014 at 4:50 PM ^
We don't play them this week. Its a bye.
October 13th, 2014 at 2:37 PM ^
while only scoring one TD early and maybe some field goals later in the game?
October 13th, 2014 at 11:10 AM ^
So glad the Fall Michigan Brewers Guild Beerfest is that Saturday at Eastern Market. Drinking craft beer from around the state of Michigan will be so much better than watching that bloodbath.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:18 AM ^
Enjoy your overpriced beer samples.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:25 AM ^
Nope, bought my tickets after Minnesota after realizing that 2014 may be worse than 2013. And getting 3-4oz samples of craft beer from some awesome Michigan breweries for a whole afternoon for $40 is well worth it.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:33 AM ^
Nothing is worth more than watching Michigan football. I'm glad to see you're off the bandwagon because we don't need nor want you.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:34 AM ^
Oh, the "we don't want you" hot take. Cool.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:38 AM ^
I would call you a band nerd, but I also played in the marching band, so there goes that idea.
October 13th, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
What the shit?
October 13th, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
What the shit?
October 13th, 2014 at 11:42 AM ^
Lol, yeah because I'm the only person that has been frustrated on this board and has mentioned about not watching, or not renewing season tickets, or turning a game off early. I suggest you settle down and let people live their lives and do what they want in regards to how/what/where/when they make Michigan football a part of their lives.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:44 AM ^
That is awful advice.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:46 AM ^
...we've reached the "true fan" phase of this season. Those who fail to make every reasonable effort to attend - or at least watch - every minute of every game are not true fans in the eyes of some. Though this only applies to the football team (and maybe the men's basketball team).
October 13th, 2014 at 1:12 PM ^
kind of weird this past Saturday. It was the first time in a while that I just wanted Michigan to win as opposed to kind of "needing" them to win and it made for a really pleasurable watching experience. I had a "timeout movie" going on TNT, was watching some of the Bama game at times. It was the most fun I have had watching a Michigan game on TV in a while.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:57 AM ^
You don't get to say "we".
October 13th, 2014 at 12:09 PM ^
Sure I do. I say it all the time.
October 13th, 2014 at 8:46 PM ^
Really? That's how my 2 year old would react.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:10 AM ^
Don't know why this should be an "oh dear." A 3:30 game feels about right for this one, and there's no way it would have gotten bumped to a noon BTN start.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:13 AM ^
I was having a good morning, and then you had to bring up the exact start time for impending doom. It's like knowing when you're going to die. lol
October 13th, 2014 at 11:15 AM ^
Expecting a replay of last year, to be honest.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:36 AM ^
I thought we played better last year. 49-3 Sparty
October 13th, 2014 at 11:42 AM ^
not quite the apocalypse murder I was envisioning a few weeks ago (55-0), this will just be a bloodbath
37-13 MSU
October 13th, 2014 at 1:50 PM ^
The only way I think we get to 13 points is if special teams or defense scores twice. They are going to blitz like maniacs because our line has not yet proven they can consistently handle the pressure.
October 13th, 2014 at 1:59 PM ^
Think it'll be 40-50s MSU and Michigan would be lucky to get to double digits.
52-7
October 13th, 2014 at 11:16 AM ^
Can I get an LOL Won't Watch meme?
I will attempt to watch it, but it's better that I don't get frustrated with something that I can't control.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
But....what ever the result, here is how the fans on the losing side will feel.
October 13th, 2014 at 11:19 AM ^
"Great moments are born from great opportunity, and that's what you have here tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game; if we played them ten times, they might win nine. But not this game, not tonight. Tonight, we play with them. Tonight we stay with them, and we shut them down because we can. Tonight, we are the greatest football team in the world.
You were born to be footballplayers—every one of you, and you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great football eam the Sparties have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it!"
That's why they play the game...
