Michigan vs. Minnesota Snowflakes Thread*
*KIDDING
Yea the refs sucked, yea too many turnovers...but we just beat the #9 team in the country and we're 17-1! Our guys had a stretch where they played out of their minds too...that's huge on the road.
MICHIGAN vs. MINNESOTA - Postgame Comments (or POSBANG) Thread

I just poured a little Glenfiddich into the glass to celebrate the win. Hard fought game, but a game that we needed and took on the road.
We did well - we got back to playing in line - even above - season averages, including 54.9% for FGs and 68% for FTs. 10-20 for three-pointers stands out as well. As a team, 19 assists and 13 steals best the Gophers stats as well. In the end, the turnovers worked out to 16 for the Gophers and 11 for Michigan, so they definitely matter in games where the numbers say we're quite evenly matched. The game came down to taking advantage of the little (and some not so little) aspects of the game, if you will, and we did that.

You just poured it into a glass? That's not much of a celebration.

Just trying to gauge how big is this win? Is it 12 year old Glenfiddich big, or is it 18 year old Glenfiddich big?
January 18th, 2013 at 8:58 AM ^
Still early in the big 10 season, so probably 12-yr old. Personnally, I think 12-yr Glenlivet is an upgrade over the Glenfiddich, so I'd go to the store and buy a bottle of that.

Hey, I'm with you. I have a bottle of 21 year old Balvenie hanging around in my liquor cabinet waiting for the day when we make the Final Four. I'm thinking this could be the year.
As for Glenfiddich vs. Glenlivet, I prefer Glenfiddich myself, but the palate prefers what the palate prefers. Either way, you're enjoying 12 year old single-malt scotch, so your day is going pretty well regardless.

John Beilein is now 7-3 against Minnesota, which is even more impressive when you consider he started out 0-2.

someone needs to 'gif caddyshack gofer scenes with this win.

I understood that we committed a foul on the play, but they weren't in the double bonus yet and that couldn't have an an "in the act" foul. Just curious if anyone else noticed that.

The foul wasn't from the contact on THJ; that was a pass down to Mbakwe (love saying that), who got fouled on his subsequent shot.

I think when MSU comes to Crisler we're going to run them out of the building

THJ needs to cut down on TOs. I know he had 21 points, but 6 tunovers is really not good.
January 17th, 2013 at 9:46 PM ^
once you break into the rotation.
January 17th, 2013 at 9:48 PM ^
Well nobody could guard me, but I'm afraid I couldn't hold the ball.
January 17th, 2013 at 9:59 PM ^
Hardaway got everything started tonight with his shooting. Yost was also critical of Burke in the first half about his shot selection. It is pretty difficult watching a POY candidate on a 17-1 team. Maybe Yost will can be player/coach when he does break into the rotation. We'll call him the duel threat!!!

What you have to understand I that bitch about everything. It makes me feel less nervous about games. Otherwise, I'm just a ball of stress and it becomes very difficult for me to watch the team play.
Besides, it's not like my statement was completely unreasonable. He DOES need to cut down on turnovers.

I really wish I could. Michigan could be 100-0 and I'd still be biting my nails every game and upset if we lost.

I was talking about Hardaway, which I thought was quite obvious given my use of the name "Hardaway." But sure, I'm the idiot.

I just like to remind myself that they're kids doing amazing things and not get down on them.
January 17th, 2013 at 10:46 PM ^
he'd pimpslap everyone and challenge them to duels??
January 17th, 2013 at 9:58 PM ^
That's your primary take away from a road win against a top 10 team. Jeez...He was the reason we had a lead in the first half.
January 17th, 2013 at 10:43 PM ^
When did I say it was my primary takeaway? Oh that's right, I didn't. You just completely made that up. I was making a comment that I think is perfectly legitimate. He had 6 turnovers, which is a lot, and if you think Hardaway himself is not prioritizing protecting the ball moving forward, you're crazy.
January 18th, 2013 at 12:10 AM ^
I agree, but the most egregious turnover by THJ was on Vogrich, I think. THJ was yelling at him after that and watching the replay showed that Vogrich was basically just standing there which allowed the Minnesota guy to get to THJ without anything in his way.

I feel a bit bad about some things about how we played when we BEAT A TOP TEN TEAM ON THE ROAD. I remember the Amaker era (my freshman year) and seeing the team literally sit at a table on the Diag and beg people to go to games. Amazing how far we have come in six years. Really amazing.

They came, they saw, and they conquered. Sure there were the ups and downs of the game, but they impressed me tonight and showed me their potential. Go Blue... Nuff said.

if I ever hope to get the points to post new topics and ride that gravy train. I thought the refs were pretty bad, but Minnesota hated them too, so maybe it's a wash. A road win like that is always nice, and I'm looking forward to the bump we'll get in the standings.

for some reason that 100 points allowed me to judge people, but I had to have 500 points to put myself out there and be judged. Thank you for correcting this fallacy.
January 17th, 2013 at 10:46 PM ^
like the depth chart, MGoHOF, ect. Also, those are the only two levels that count; someone with 500 points can do everything M-Wolverine can do.

I've heard M-Wolverine gets cake.
I have 500 points, yet have no cake .
