The game starts in about ten minutes and can be seen on Comcast Local. You can find radio and the link for online video (you have to pay for it)at UM's site. There is also the Daily live blog:
Michigan vs. Michigan State Open Thread
I don't understand the point of putting this game on Comcast while FSN is showing some crap Pistons in Focus program. Who actually has Comcast anyway? Guess it's radio for me...
I tried CBSsports.com but I cannot get it to run on my mac.
You'll need to register and it'll show that it's 9.95 for a month. BUT.....if you use the Coupon FREEMONTH10 then the all access pass is $0.00.
AWESOME!! 3-0!!! and a UM power play 2min to start the 2nd
EDIT: Was going to start a new Thread so people see this but I'm still a newbie. Someone want to spread the word
8-1 in the early going. That's the way to play in front of Hunwick!
Anyone know what the crowd looks like? I heard plenty of tickets were left and Sparty was on spring break this week. Hoping it's at least 50/50 with M fans.
coming, us non-locals cannot see the game.
Caporusso with goal #3
Damn I wish I was there.
Our strategy of "score often and please God don't let the puck near Hunwick" has paid off!
Ah yes, Brian's favorite type of penalty: an idiotic one
Very disappointed by the basketball outcome, but going into tourney week I was just hoping that one of the two would make the big dance. If Red and the fellas can keep this up I'll take it in a heartbeat.
Keep hope alive!
EDIT: Is there anyway to see this if you aren't within 2 miles of EL? Somebody tell the engineering undergrads to stop doing homework and get a stream up!
I'm listening on the radio. How is the Munn invasion? Good Blue crowd there?
Looks like there's a pretty good UM contingent there, which at times has been louder than the Spartans fans.
Just heard commentary that UM fans might be outnumbering spartan fans. Which is awesome.
Do you have a free radio link?
mgoblue.com has one.
You would have no problem convincing me that this is a game at Yost just based on the audio.
At mgoblue. There is a link right on the front page. You might have to install silverlight.
The story of the game so far is horrible turnovers by MSU, 2 of which have led to goals so far. We're killing them with good pressure and lots of shots, but as Berenson pointed out, we have been a bit lucky.
Sounds like we've got like half the crowd there. Either that or we're just plain louder...
Speaking of which, penalty coming up and I can hear our guys yelling about it. Great period, power play to start the second.
Could we finally be the team that gets hot at the right time instead of being the victim?
Preach on, brother! This team has outshot everybody all year and hasn't caught a break. If it starts to happen now I will be a very happy camper.
Go to mgoblue.com, click on video, then type in for the coupon thing, FREEMONTH10. You have to register, but it's free, even if it's with sparty announcers.
Looks like you hit submit the same time I did.
You the man. Excellent feed, despite MSU douchebaggery announcing.
I'm more than OK with douchebaggery announcing when it's the pained "we're losing 4-0" sound.
"Let's Go Blue" chant was ridiculously loud.
Palmesiano didn't see it
Did I just hear the goal horn for OUR goal?
I thought for a second Sparty scored...
It truly is a home atmosphere. Actually, we don't even get that at Yost.
Good start to the period.
So what is Hogan's status? If we advance, is there a chance he might play next weekend?
For some unexplainable reason none of the new PSU College of Medicine computers have flash players installed (SRSLY!). So, I can't gamecast. There aren't any video cards installed, either. The syzygy of "PSU" and "absurdity" is really ... absurd sometimes.
Anyway: keep sending the [hopefully] good news.
Thanks again to UMWest22. Got to love hearing the "We want, moooooorrrreee goals!" loud and clear on the road.
I also love that all the MSU color guy does is yell, "Come on (whoever has the puck's name)!" What an asswipe!
EDIT: State on power play with 16:00 to go in the second, down 4-0
EDIT II: Easy penalty kill. 14:26 to go in the 2nd, up 4-0.
Any word on Hogan when he will be back? I know hunwick has played very well but he also is getting some pretty good help defensively
If your watch the video feed just mute it and have the mich live audio instead. There is a little delay but it's not to bad.
I am loving the MSU announcers. Got to love comments like, "We just have to do something postitive, I mean, a goal would be ideal, but we just have to have something to turn the momentum."
Seriously, I can't tell a difference in the audio. every chant is clear as day. Oh my. This is awesome.
"Hunwick shut out a [depleted] Lake State team" Really? One player down last Saturday is depleated? What's that make Michigan tonight?
EDIT: ok, I'll give them one thing. I don't have to hear where Palmisano is from, nor do I have to be reminded who Dean Chelios's dad is.
i think there was a Chelios who played in the NHL. for Chicago I think.
OSU up on Miami 2-1
Northern up on Alaska 3-0
Is what I just heard on the radio.
Even if typing so creeps me out.
Michigan called for goalie interference just for laying the lumber to MSU keeper. These refs suck.
EDIT: Bullshit bouncing goal makes it 4-1. These announcers have AIDS.
And one of our announcers sounds like he's a nameless South Park character.
STFU announcer. I don't mind being a homer, but yelling "COME ON!!!" at the top of your lungs is just ridiculous.
They sound like what I imagine one of those fan experience type things before a big game or at a HOF where you and your buddy can do play-by-play of a famous game would sound like.
"Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug. Tonight Michigan State is the bug."
I smell some home cooking. I guess thats why you want home ice for the tourney.
call the fucking dive......
Give him the Oscar!
Scoring a goal, having another big opportunity, and getting a powerplay is a legitimate momentum shift. Fortunately, it was short lived.
Treais (spelling?) gets hit for giving him the business with 4:30 left. Douchey MSU announcers see "momentum shifting."
Slashed Hagelin. 4 on 4 for nearly 2 minutes coming up.
BOOM FREE PIZZA'D
I could really, really use this.
awwwwwww.... no goal horn this time.
Palmisano tried to play the puck, fanned on it, and eventually Caporusso tipped it in.
Stick your momentum shift up your ass! 40 seconds left in 2nd and State color guy is still a dickhead.
EDIT: I type slow when I'm drunk, I guess. End of 2nd.
the 4 goal lead. twice as tough as the 2 goal lead.
I love scoring in the first and last 20 seconds of the period. Don't think I have ever seen that before.
When's the last time we ran Sparty out of their own building this bad? They kept their game at Munn close last year, IIRC.
I felt good about this weekend, but crap, these guys are sounding like they team we were expecting!
I really hope OSU can pull off the upset in Miami. An easier opponent with more hate value just down the road at The Joe. Couldn't ask for a better semifinal...
Sparty doesn't have "The Villain".
This is like a figurative Tropping, which is much better than the literal kind.
It's nice to finally send 'em an eager counter-facebash. Our inability to do to so to MSU yet this year made things so much more miserable.
3 Rogue Dead Guy Ales and a 4-goal lead in the 3rd. I'm feeling a little better now.
other than those three goals for michigan in the first, this is a tight one'
Yeeeah, except for that late basket by OSU today....
Interference call with 12:30 left. Announcers don't realize they are live for video even when it is a commercial for radio.
Color guy: "I just didn't see this coming"
I love it. Hopefully this gives him a little warning for tomorrow.
This fucker calling the game just quoted Hee-Haw! I'm as country as they come but even I think that is hilarious.
EDIT: They are also bitching about how hard it is to sell tickets to this game, yet I don't hear any shortage of Blue fans in attendance. Face it, State, nobody likes you!
"I'm so annoyed with this down here" (M fans chanting)
Announcer: "They're ahead, they have every right to thump their chest."
Can hear it clear as day. Sounds like our troops did their job today.
Tickets will be available at the door tomorrow according to MSU announcers. Hopefully we can have a repeat performance. Just regret no longer living in the area. Go BLUE!
I will be in Detroit this weekend, and might try to clear my schedule tomorrow night and get up to the game. Its a long shot, but if there are tickets available, I don't have to worry about that part.
But I commend your efforts. Hope you can make it up to enemy territory to watch the sweep in person. Go BLUE!
It seems to me the team is very conscious of their defensive assignments now that Hunwick is in there. He very rarely has to face a screen or a second shot (so far, and God willing, going forward). That may be a reflection of competition but it does seem like the players are more attentive to it.
The offense was maddeningly inconsistent. Noone ever misclassified Hogan as New Montoya, and--sure--he might not be so great, but this team struggles are multifactorial, to be sure.
Besides, it could be argued that Hunwick is yet to start against a good team--even now. While trying not to devalue the Spartan's #2 seed (they did get there; and, hell, we certainly couldn't), I don't think they are anywhere near the caliber of a typical CCHA #2 seed ... which, let's be honest with ourselves contemporary CCHA comrades: That's a pretty big put down.
And that's where PurpleStuff's explanation fits well. On top of Hogan probably being less good than that for which he's being given credit (you know: the meh competition, etcetera), Michigan's defense is at its 2009-2010 zenith right now. That's helping a ton.
"There's no shot on Hunwick ... There's no shot on Hunwick ..." (Clicking heels together.)
and that game was fucking awesome! I hope that whole arena turns to maize tomorrow night! HAIL TO THE VICTORS SPARTAN BITCHES
