Burke needs to chill the hell out and run the offense
Michigan vs. Indiana Basketball Open Thread
Would have been insane. Good thing the Hobbit couldn't feed him properly.
Dicky V is pissing me off.
We've come back, but we're still playing way too much 1 on 1 ball.
Someone box that man out
Come on McGary just watching.
Will someone please box out Zeller one time?
Is GR3 going to show up tonight?
Quit forcing shots!
McGary craps bigger than Zeller.
Don't be intimidated refs. He's a smurf.
Now Hardaway playing hero ball....come on man terrible shots
we are running out of time, need better posessions
Damn it, quit fucking turning the ball over!
Come on, pick him up!
Oladipo just shoving people right now.
No joke. Not getting called, so why not?
Please box out Zeller.
McGary would have gotten to that rebound, but his arm was being held.
God damn, somebody has to box him out.
God I hate that ugly bastard
This is pretty crappy one on one junk
4 rebound dunks by zoeller. pathetic.
what the hell are these shots?!?!?!
Once hero ball takes over the game is over.
Zeller is actin' a fool out there.
Well that's not very hard when nobody guards you.
Down more points than minutes left.
Well the plus is GRIII will be back.
Everytime we get close, Burke starts shooting stupid shots.
Stop leaving Zeller wide open for rebound dunks!!
If guys don't rotate
Just let Zeller slam it every offensive rebound
Stop leaving Zeller wide open for rebound dunks!!
The game is there guy's go and grab it!
So the offense is....give to Burke or Robinson, let them dribble and take up contested shots or beyond NBA 3's
Make your ducking shots
For all he's done to keep us in this game Burke is not seeing the court well enough right now.
Plenty of chances to tie it up just not hitting the shots
This is expected. We don't get to play the Cody Zeller that couldn't do shit he last two games. We get to play the dunking machine.
P&R, we need some inside shots
Everytime I say Burke needs to stop with the hero ball he makes another play
hero ball works sometimes when you're as good as Burke...
there's mcgary making 2 plays in a row.
But he needs to dump that to McGary.
Hero taketh away, hero giveth.
I wish Morgan wasn't hurt! Zeller wouldn't be getting all those dunks!
Needed that steal badly.
Absolute bail out call. Pass the fucking ball.
Ball don't lie
Burke making Oladipo look like a fool
Any doubt Burke was going to shoot that if he wasnt fouled first?
Fucking shit their ball movement is so much better than ours
That was not even close to a charge...
That was not even close to a charge...
How the fuck could that have been called on Burke?
That Akon looking loudmouth is a bitch
Damn. It seems like every time we get within striking distance they come up with a big play.
defs wasnt a push off
Screw you, Oladipo. Screw you, Vitale for being all over his nuts.
Dick v can suck my dick
We really are lucky to be in this game with the way our offense has played.
McGary needs the ball more
McGary is a beast.
WTF was that call on Hardaway?
holy crap was that 6 steps?
almost matching zoeller now with the putbacks. now if only GRIII or stauskus decide to show up.
Wow. Held ball or travel becomes a foul in Ass Hall
Wow. Held ball or travel becomes a foul in Ass Hall
refs are suspect.
Jesus we can't guard anyone one on one
This might be the nba they aren't making any traveling calls
16373926 steps and no contact from our guy...yep sounds like an and-1
Bullshit call or most bullshit call ever?
Soooo when the other guy puts the ball in your stomach your not allowed I grab it? I hope someone's writing these new rules down
GRIII and Stauskas absolutely wilted in this game. Basically played like lost freshmen in a hostile environment.
There's the Assembly Hall call I was waiting for. And at JUST THE RIGHT TIME.
Refs turn a travel into Hardaway's 4th foul...
These refs are blatantly screwing us now. Before it was somewhat subtle.
Taking out the bias that we're losing with 3:30 left, if I was a casual fan I'd think this was a really good game.
what...they counted that...
COUNTING THE BASKET? WHAT?!?
I disagreed with all of you and thought it was a foul but no way that's continuation. Should be (edit: one and one).
Walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk
Strait Bullshit call.
Fuck Indiana and their paid off ref crew.
WHAT THE FUCK THEY FUCKING COUNTED THE FUCKING BASKET ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
THIS ISN'T THE NBA
HOW THE FUCK DO YOU COUNT THAT AS HE WAS BEING FOULED WHILE TRAVELING???!!!! YET IT'S A SHOOTING FOUL?! DUMB FUCK REFS
We've had our chances.
So now they have taken a point from Michigan and given Indiana two...
lol the announcers make a big deal about how continuation doesnt count in CBB as they go to break. We come back and find out it did count
I can buy the foul call there, but to call that continuation is just laughable.
will cost us the game. We will lose by 3 or less.
Was that call?
5 steps and then a continuation call that doesnt exist in the NCAA. Remember that call all you posters under 30- I've been watching those for 45 years.
Your wife doesn't look so well.
That call probably just decided the game
He took five steps!!!
I thought it was a two.
Give him the 3. He deserves it for that bs call earlier
Another fucking two?!
Of course its a 2....inches from 2 extra points tonight
Damn shot in basketball, foot on the line 3 pointer.
Alright what's the point here? The refs are just deciding the outcome in the last few minutes.
Fuck Valentines crew.
Damn B1G referees making shit up again
All week I told everybody this was coming. All week I was told "it happens everywhere....you're just being paranoid"
NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND?????????
Mgrowup? that's a good one
Sincerely, off all the games to hang your hat on as an example of the refs stealing a game at Assembly Hall, this ain't the one. I would allocate reason for the IU victory thusly: IU 54%; Michigan 45%; Refs 1%. In my esteemed opinion,The referreeing had virtually no effect on the outcome of this game. The BIG could have had Mgrowold, Tater, and Professor X calling this one and IU still would have one.
Indiana kicked butt, in this affair they had the two best players on the court, and really took it to Michigan all night long.
Just like Ohio State, Indiana gave a fantastic effort and deserved this victory. This level of effort is impossible to summon everygame. The last time I saw Michigan give this rabid of an effort? The Wisconsin game at Crisler last season. Wisconsin didn't know what hit 'em in that blowout.
IU will lose at Breslin, they will lose at the Discount Furniture Store, they will lose at the Barn and they will lose at Crisler.
Crean is a douche and his team is just like him. Entitled babies.
I think they're looking at the punch
Looking at that And 1 replay.....when there is a continuation foul, does that mean the player no longer has to dribble the ball the rest of their shot attempt, even if they take 5 steps while spinning around?
Thanks Robinson! Great game tonight!
a crapy achademic school in a crappy state good at basketball?
Not winning this one...
get him the hell out. useless tonite on both ends.
GRIII has been brutal tonight
GRIII and Stauskus killed us tonight.
YOU'RE WIDE FUCKING OPEN ROBINSON! COME ON!
It's the officiating
Well. Ball game.
This game is going to shut up the NBA draft analysts about Robinson being a one and done.
We need everyone in a game like this- it's the difference. Too much standing around off the ball on offense.
They did not step up. Fuckin bullshit
MAKE YOUR FUCKING SHOTS
2 big games 2 games no Nik or Glen. We need them to grow up quick.
But he needs to stay for a year or two.
Robinson a complete no show offensively in the biggest game of the year? The offense just didnt look the same in the OSU and Indiana games. Not as much passing, sharing the ball, too many terrible shots attempted
Good hustle guys. Game over
Plow him over. No need for a foul
The Canadian needs to grow a pair
Zellar tackles two people getting to the ball..."just hustle"
Got out hustled for that ball.
thats probably ballgame
THAT WAS A GODDAMN FOUL ON ZELLER ON THE LOOSE BALL
Indiana played a much, much better game than we did. We forced just about everything, and couldn't make wide open shots.
This game doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Sure, it would be a lot easier to win the B1G with a win here, but when the tournament comes we still ahve to win 6 games.
What? It's huge for the big ten regular season championship....which is what actually matters...
The real Tournament. And the real season.
FUCKING GOD DAMMIT SHIT FUCK INDIANA FUCK VALENTINE FUCK EVERYTHING
Refs blowing this one
We're blowing this one.
We'll get 'em in Ann Arbor.
Pushes everybody out of way...no foul?
Nice rebound after bull rushing two of our players!
never amount to more than a Manager at a Big 4.
These refs are an f ing joke
We fucked ourselves
I'm hating Cody Zeller's mom right now.
As predicted, officials take over at the end of a fairly close game.
Don't anger KenPom. Terrible big game team aside from Burke and THJ.
I wonder if Zellers parents are at the game tonight ... It's like Blake Griffin all over again
Will stop doing that stupid 3 eyes down the court now. But I doubt it
Robinson scores when it doesn't matter... Come on man we needed you earlier
The stagnant dribble one on one offense did
apparnetly its time to start just chucking up 3s
am so tired of losing these fucking road games. The fucking disparity in foul calls is ridiculous. Zeller for IU, Craft for Ohio...fucking enough already.
After that bullshit continuation call, I can't blame the kids for being deflated.
Fucking 50 year-old stripes taking the game to the charity stripe instead of where it deserves to be played.
That didn't do us in. Hardaway hit a shot right after.
We got outplayed. It wasn't the refs.
Well the only people "surprised" by this game are people under 25. Anybody older than that knew this was coming.
On to the Buckeyes..........
Fucking someone Chinese government cyber attack the UI website /fan blogs!!!!!!!!!
Ugh just couldn't hit enough shots. Had their chances to take the lead. Zeller with no fouls is a joke. We get them back in Ann Arbor
Burke scored a lot and guys he gave the ball to missed open shots, but he made some horrible decisions on the second half
Ah, not a bad loss. Tough place to play. We hung in there. We'll get them at home.
And it was closer
It's more in the manner that it happened. Cold shooting and BS refs cost us this game.
These things happen. It's why no one has gone undefeated in so long.
that was a choke job if there was ever one.
but i still think a loss here will serve mi better in the long run...
need to step up ...go blue!
I hate when refs take over at critical times.
I was hoping to win 2 of four. Hopefully, we can get 2/3 now. I think we can.
Refs made sure IU won this game down the stretch...but GR3 and Stauskas have to show up...
Michigan fouls less than any team in the country....until they go to Indiana..
End the thread. All that's needed to be said .
McGary is the only one who came to play tonight.
Jordan Morgan , Robinson III, Stauskas all played like poop.
Don't lump Morgan in that he played a whole 5 seconds it seemed like and he's probably still a but hurt.
Butt hurt? I thought it was an ankle?
iPhone typo *bit hurt.
Don't blame Morgan. He shouldn't have even been out there with his injury.
Our offense isn't quite as good as we thought. Too much one on one stuff and our shooters were all off.
IU has executed much better offensively than Michigan. When you play this inefficiently on the road, you're only asking for trouble. The refs have been what you expect in a game like this. They're not the reason why Stauskas is 0-fer from 3 or why GR3 has been a no-show. Have a little class and acknowledge that we were not the better team tonight.
Amen. We didn't play we'll enough, that's for sure. Calls against are expected on the road, especially at this hell hole.
IU came out hot, and Canadian Bacon and GRIII didn't get off the bus today. If those two played better, perhaps the outcome would have been different.
The three called a two in the first. The travel that got a call and foul. Just to name two. This game makes me fucking insane.
Welp you can't go 4 minutes without scoring twice and expect to win against good teams, especially on the road.
Burke played like crap too. Sure, he scored a lot, but he frequently destroyed any offensive rhythm, tried to do it all himself, and as a result, shot under 40%.
We had no offensive flow in the Ohio game or this game...fucking awful
Liked the effort today. Just needed a few shots to fall. Definitely got good looks.
You like the one on one basketball all game? No offense lost this one, not the refs.
People blaming the refs are not watching the same game. Outside of a couple of guys, it was one on one basketball. There has been absolutely no consistent flow on offense. I will say, though, that Indiana was damn good whether it be one on one or distributing the ball. They did whatever they wanted to do to Michigan. This loss sucks, but these next few games are brutal.
Not Just A Shooter
Holy shit, we lose any semblance of an organized offense when somebody actually plays defense on us. This really needs some work.
So only two teams all year have played D on us? Come on.
We played in a hostile environment and lost our composure at times. Don't over-analyze it.
THJ and McGary are the only players who play efficiently on the road. Burke tries to be the hero and the starting freshmen disappear.
The refs were ok but that continuation call was total bullshit. He travelled and that took a 4 pt game to 7 when we could have trimmed it to 1-2.
You know that kind of shit is going to happen in the road. Foul calls were relatively balanced (we were in the bonus during a meaningful part of the 2nd half). If the best we can argue is that we should have been down 3 instead of 7, well....ok. How does it explain the fact that we executed like dog crap on offense? Or couldn't box out Zeller? If we had lost on a last second shot or something, then I think you could make more of an argument about the refs. But realistically, we were not winning against this team on this night in this building. On to OSU.
I agree it's just that call was so bad. Ugh
Have you watched the big ten this year? It's about guarding your home court. Indiana took care of that tonight as expected. The Wisconsin lost still lingers though. Taking care of Ohio Tuesday is more important then winning tonight.
WTF have some of you been watching? I mean that in a respectful manner becasue I really like your posts but the REFEREES have been very good tonight.
All in all, we lost because a really good team beat us. Oh well. Well come back and beat a good OSU team Tuesday night and hopefully beat this Indiana team in our own place. Was a fun game to watch but stop ya bitchin' abount inane things. Just didn't happen tonight.
Um. You watching the same game? Refs gave a five-step traveling an and one.
ESPN Michigan-Indiana game. That's what I watched. A bad and-one call was the difference tonight?? No. I agree that that call wasn't a good one. Foul? Jump ball? I don't know but I agree it shouldn't have been an and-one. However, give me a few more calls than that, that gave the discrepency between the two teams tonight. We played well. They played a few points better.
Teddy V. gave some Michigan calls tonight too, as did the other referee. Get your blame game off the officials. I was honestly, myself, expecting a lopsided game in terms of officiating but it didn't happen; they did well. Two bad calls doesn't equate to a loss blamed on refs.
I'm getting really tired of watching Trey Burke take bad shots.
Waaaaaaay too much hero ball.
Zeller played his best game of the year. I've been critical of him this year. He played his butt off tonight.
Tempt KenPom, and you get hosed. Every time. So, just go with KenPom. Always. And forever.
chin up at least hockey swept sparty this weekend after beating them like Chris Brown on Rhianna.
Now you hit one Nik with no pressure. Ugh.
Quickly start the snowflake thread
I had 77-71. 77-70 would be all that could have beat me.
The team that commits the fewest fouls in the country for some reason committed 19 (and counting) tonight.
I wonder why.
Because we played a really skilled team on the road that spent a lot of time getting into the paint, and we had to foul at the end because we were losing?
Now we're making all these threes WTF
I just don't understand the mentality of this team when they played good road teams. Our offense transforms instantly into poop.
F!!!! Now we are hitting 3's.
Now we hit 3s lol
Oh so now we make threes
Good time to get hot
Fuck Jim Harbaugh for letting his sister marry Tom Crean.
What a douchey play to end the game.
We lost to IU in Bloomington by 8 and IU has been #1 this season longer than we have. We've got a good shot to return the favor in Ann Arbor
Would like your rationalization
Oladipo with dick move at the end.
THIS AIN'T OVER.
IU should have no complaints if there's a bad call at our place.
But the problem is we shot 7.
Out-rebounded 36-22 didn't help either.
Caron Butler wannabe ass hat.
Oh well. Sucks that we had to lose but this in no way kills our B1G title hopes. Remember, Indiana has played the easiest schedule in the conference so far. All of their big games have been at home. They have yet to play a ranked team on the road. They have already played last place Penn State twice ad second to last place Nebraska twice. They still have to go to Minnesota, to OSU, to MSU and to Crisler. As long as we take care of business at home, we'll be in great shape.
Oladipo is a piece of cocky shit.
They played a better game. The dunk at the end matters little.
Just because you won doesn't mean you get to rub it in like that. Basic sportsmanship says you don't do that (Michigan concedes at the end by not pursuing...therefore you don't pad stats and put another 2 points on the board. Or you do if you're a giant douche)...and I bet you it comes to bite Indiana in the ass for future matchups. Michigan won't forget that.
Wisconsin did that on Sparty about 6 or 7 years ago. Izzo never forgot and he hates Bo Ryan probably more than he does us.
Agreed. He can go fuck himself for doing something like that. So bush league.
2 losses on the season and in both games, the moment seemed too big for the freshmen. GRIII was a pure noshow tonight, but I expect him to grow from this game and I think our losses will do more to build our character than any of our 20 wins.
McGary can't get lumped in with the others.
Agreed. Perhaps too much attention has been paid to Trey Burke and so the other freshmen (except Mitch McGray) think that they are not essential to the team. When it comes to big tough game, EVERYONE counts.
You will always have players that stand out on the stats sheet but it is important that everyone performs well. If you two or three players off in a big game then you are going to lose.
It's hard to be too mad about this. Indiana played out of their minds. I thought we played very well overall, but damn. Indiana was crazy tonight.
Tough schedule ahead. Go Blue!!!
I know that Michigan fans were hopeful, but I've been watching college basketball way too long to ever assume that Michigan is likely to win road games against Top 10 teams in Assembly Hall, Columbus or the Breslin Center. Hold serve on home court, take an ugly win in Madison and we'll be alright.
What did Oladipo do? I didn't see it.
...and the kid runs down for a show-boat dunk as time expired.
Sounds like he took the free points when the teams were lining up to shake hands. Crean looked back like wtf. lol
Dunked after we conceded the game by not fouling. He went down and dunked. They ended up waving it off saying it came a moment too late, but the douchey intent was there. Hard foul that bastard in Ann Arbor.
When the game was over.
It is considered a poor sportmanship move but to me it's meh! If you play a better game then that stuff doesn't matter.
complaining about because it impacted winning or losing, but it still a complete bush league move that deserves some criticism. All I have to say is I wouldn't mind somebody knocking him on his rear end if he goes to the basket in the rematch.
Anyways besides that Michigan played pretty poorly on both the offensive and defensive for much of the game. Forced some shots, missed alot of makeable shots, and allowed Indiana way too many open looks. On the positive I think this game tells you how talented this team is when they can play so poorly, and still hang around in the game.
Michigan conceded with 10 seconds left and did not defend the ball. Oladipo then proceeded to thunder dunk, undefended, with 1 second left.
Crean just quoted Bo? Damn I hate Tom Crean!
I'm gonna guess that Jim Harbaugh is his favorite brother in law and that's his way of saying who he will be rooting for.
What a cunt. Knock his ass down next time he drives to the basket.
The jump ball / travel not called on Oladipo changes the game completely
GTFO Crean. That one's copyrighted, bitch.
Think that's pretty cool of him to admit it, he's still a prick but awesome to know Bo has touched so many people!
Poor play, Props to MMG and TB. Otherwise, not so much, including the coaching. Love the kids, love the staff, but better is needed to go deep in the tourney.
Can't imagine we get docked much for losing by 8 on the road at the Indiana while KU lost at how to Okie St
I say we flip spots with indiana, florida will be number 2....also with oladipo's bs dunk at the buzzer it was a 10pt. loss
It got waved off.
Florida will jump us.
We better stay high ranked. KU lost at home to an unranked team. Syracuse lost. Florida plays no one. We should still be #2.
Typical of many, many, many coaches in the NCAA. Hard go.
I will take this team in March on a neutral court vs anybody. Also calling a Michigan/Indiana/MSU + 1 random team final 4 if the bracket allows
Don't bitch about the officiating. Yeah, there were a handful of bad calls (there are in every single basketball game) but we've had worse.
We had way, way too many wasted possessions in which our primary distributor didn't try to get his teammates involved and started launching from deep. Burke's got to fight the urge to be a mad bomber.
I WILL bitch about officiating because it was atrocious.
By Assembly Hall standards, it was pretty good. It was not the difference in the game. IU outplayed us. That possession with two minutes left where Zeller dove for a loose ball while GRIII stood and watched pretty much summed it up. We did not play with composure.
At worst that is a foul on the floor.
That was a bad call, but it's not like this game came down to one play. If we let that call defeat us, that's on us. I think IU was more aggressive most of the night and the officials generally reward that.
that call was a little bit more than bad, it was flat out atrocious. The continuation was bad enough, not even factoring in the obvious travel before the foul.
Like I said I do agree your overall sentiments though, Michigan didn't play a good ballgame on either end of the court.
then you clearly haven't watched enough basketball in your life. Atrocious officiating is Game 6 of the Kings-Lakers series in 02 or the entire Heat-Mavs series in 06. Considering the environment, the officiating was as good as we could have hoped for. If you want to convince yourself that the refs were somehow more responsible for this loss than Burke, Stauskas and GR3, then that's just like....your opinion man. It just happens to be wrong.
I lost my voice screaming 'pass the damn ball!'
I didn't see many bad calls but it seemed like Indiana was getting more calls. The FT difference was one of the differences in this game.
Burke's missed FT really hurt.
Indiana attacked the basket most of the game. We consistently settled for outside shots. It's not surprising that they would have more FT attempts.
Take care of business at home, beat Ohio State on Tuesday and Michigan State and Indiana in March. We are still in good shape to win the Big 10.
Just saw the Oladipo dunk. He's going to really regret that when he comes to Crisler
Where'd you find it? I turned away at the end of the game and didn't see it.
And not spot them double digits.
Minnesota not a few weeks ago.
Coached by Tubby Smith? Chronic underachievers with all that athletic ability and talent? Good win but not an elite road win.
They've shown they were frauds.
Nope. Big games are ohio, Indiana, MSU. Haven't beat an elite team yet this year.
Without our 3s falling (until way too late) I feel good about splitting with them. Picked IU to win by 8, close except for Victor the douche. I picked us to split with OSU, IU, and mSU... So there's that.
Watches and says "they don't get many people involved in the offense", that's a problem. Granted, it's a good team but two very good defensive efforts have shut them down.
shut them down. Michigan missed quite a few makeable/open shots.
Officiating was not bad. Our defense and shot selection were horrible.
Yes it was. It may not have been the difference but it's ridiculous that Zeller didn't have a single foul the entire game, as was the Oladipo continuation, among others. I don't consider it a conicidence that Hardaway and Burke both had three and four fouls respectively halfway through the second half while IU's main scoring option didn't have one.
Bottom line: Oladipo is a clown. Now go win two of the next three, protect home court, then hammer IU at Crisler. Big Ten Champs of the outright variety.
