LONG OVERDUE
Michigan vs. Indiana Basketball Open Thread
They've shown they were frauds.

Nope. Big games are ohio, Indiana, MSU. Haven't beat an elite team yet this year.
"There was a time I could have been mistaken for Burt Reynolds. I had a moustache and so did he. But he was the number one star in the world, so there wasn't really much confusion."
Without our 3s falling (until way too late) I feel good about splitting with them. Picked IU to win by 8, close except for Victor the douche. I picked us to split with OSU, IU, and mSU... So there's that.
HAIL.
Watches and says "they don't get many people involved in the offense", that's a problem. Granted, it's a good team but two very good defensive efforts have shut them down.
Officiating was not bad. Our defense and shot selection were horrible.
cheat, cheat, and cheat some more, and when you get caught, do the right thing, lie!
Yes it was. It may not have been the difference but it's ridiculous that Zeller didn't have a single foul the entire game, as was the Oladipo continuation, among others. I don't consider it a conicidence that Hardaway and Burke both had three and four fouls respectively halfway through the second half while IU's main scoring option didn't have one.
Bottom line: Oladipo is a clown. Now go win two of the next three, protect home court, then hammer IU at Crisler. Big Ten Champs of the outright variety.
See it through.
The thing that makes me mad watching them vs IU and OSU is that they don't even run any kind of offense as far as I can tell. They just go one way over a screen, then go back the other way screening again. then they pass and it starts all over again until they have to drive on a triple team or jack up a contested three with under five seconds left on the shot clock. All those drive and kicks and all that good stuff just goes away when they play great teams. They just run high ball screens the entire time and it just doesn't work.
We're 20-2, it's not like it never works.
HAIL.
you were watching. I saw quite of few makeable/open shots that were created and simply missed. OSU is the only team that has actually shut them down.
Not that many, at least not as many open looks as usual. I'm kind if surprised you didn't notice the multiple times where something like this would happen:
1) Trey goes over Mcgary screen. 2) Trey reverses direction and goes over another Mcgary screen. 3) Trey passes to someone (usually Stauskas) who goes over a screen set usually by Hardaway. 4) that player passes back to Trey. 5) Process repeats until the shot clock runs down. 6.a) Shoot contested three or 6.b) Try driving into multiple defenders and shoot a contested two point jumper or (rarely) a contested layup.
That seriously was the one thing I was noticing all game long in both losses. Yeah there's other factors, but you can't expect repeating the above sequence to generate consistent points.
or so open looks in the first half. Also contested or not I would consider the layups Michigan missed to be decent looks. I don't think UM generated as many open shots as Indiana, but that has more to do with shot selection than the way Indiana defended them. I just disagree with the notion that the best point guard having the ball in hands, creating for himself and others is not a consistent way to generate points.
Well given the way we played, it's amazing we didn't lose by 20. I feel very good about our chances at Crisler.
At first I wasn't too upset that we lost to a good IU team. Then Oladipo (windmill dunk) and Crean (The Team comments) decided to go full douche mode. Screw them and their stupid candy stripe pants.

Oladipo is a cockbag. Time for a good, hard foul the next time that jizzstain drives the lane.
Tom Crean can fall down a flight of stairs.

Fuck everyone except me, Brian, TomVH and any other wolverine. They were who we thought they were, Jordan Hulls still gets a child discount at Denny's. Zeller pees himself when balloons pop and Tom Crean wears crocs while shoveling snow.
Plus Hulls looks like he belongs in The Shire. Burke appears to be familiar with The Shire, Middle Earth and several other far away locales as well, because that's where he was launching some of his shots from tonight.

I normally don't endorse vulgarity and name calling, but this post...Gold.

The atmosphere and spotlight was a bit overwhelming for our freshmen tonight. As much as it sucks to lose this game, here is what I expect going forward. Tonight, just like in Columbus, will be a major learning experience for our younger players. McGary did some great things out there while, unfortunately, allowing Zeller to have a tip-dunk fest. He will learn. It will not happen again in the re-match in Ann Arbor. Stauskas and GRIII missed some shots and the game got in their heads. Over the course of the season, both guys will have a break-out game in a tough road environment. Maybe in Madison? Maybe in E Lansing? They will learn from tonight. Michigan will probably fall to 3 or 4 in the rankings. It doesn't matter. We are 1 game back in the B10 and need to win 2 of the next 3. I fully expect a double-digit bounce-back/revenge win over Ohio St. on Tuesday. If Michigan can win the B10, they will still get a #1 seed and play the first weekend at the Palace. Tonight was frustrating as hell but I still think this team was legit at #1 and may be back there again before it is all said and done.
What ya gonna do when HOKEamania runs wild on you???
How can some of you fucking ass hats complain about Trey's "bad shots"! What was he supposed to do, nobody else could buy a bucket! If it wasn't for his play tonight, we lose by 25!
I am not making excuses but if you really watched this game and didn't think the officiating played a factor I am not sure what game you were watching. MSU got the same treatment. It seems as if every prime time game in the Big Ten the officials get into the "home" crowd feel and go crazy. Michigan is the commits the fewest fouls of any team in the nation.....before the we need to foul I think Michigan shot 7 free throws and Indiana 19......that doesn't seem right. I just like to watch good basketball games but way too often this year all I have seen is the officials stepping in and taking control. It's one game, doesn't really matter but the officials played a big role in the flow of the game especially early on.
It's just part of the game. It seems like in the big games the home team gets the ref advantage! IU better not get the calls when they come to our home court!
expect the best
But the team went cold and we let IU score 11 straight points. I guess that's where your home court crowd helps you out! We need to beat OHIO!
expect the best
In a game we fucking win.

IU played with a ton of energy, defensively were all over the place taking Stauskas and GR3 out of the game and forced Burke into hero ball. I think it shows UM how they need to elevate their game, perhaps eat some humble pie but definitely lights a fire after Oldalipos dunk. You see that look hardaway gave as he stopped short of shaking Crean's hand? I expect (hope?) this team to get pissed. They really didn't play all that well and had a shot. Time to play a complete game Tues.
Any scout who watched GRIII uninspiringly jog back onto defense after each unimpresdive offensive posession of his 4 pt performance in the biggest game of his short collegiate career, may have lost a little interest in him. I'd rather he had played a good game, but this may have slightly increased the chance of getting a 2nd year out if him.
You need everyone to play their A game on the road in the B1G to win games, espically against top tier opponents...
Stauskus shows up vs ohio, and GRIII shows up against IU, we could easily win both games... we have nobody to blame but ourselves. Chalk it up to Freshman woes, they're getting good experience
I just had to get in on this epic 1,000+ post thread. 20-2 still feels good
"What" ain't no country I ever heard of. They speak English in What?
Is Michigan going to receive a #1 seed for the tourney?

Coached by Tubby Smith? Chronic underachievers with all that athletic ability and talent? Good win but not an elite road win.
