2 minutes left in wings game, up 3 to 2.
Bertuzzi just put in the empty netter with just under a minute to play. Ends a 3 game skid.
OT, but it's intermission.
Adrian trails St. Norbert 4-3 through 2 periods in the D-III National Championship game.
I hate watching games that have under 100 people actually in attendance.
I agree, but I am glad that I can still clearly hear all the Michigan cheers/chants/songs/theVictors.
Looks like they gave the band amazing seats at a regional for a change. All three of them I went to, we were sitting in the top of the rink looking at an empty lower bowl.
When there are only 700 people at the game, they can pretty much put the band wherever.

yeah little bit of sarcasm there. you can feel how empty the room is through the TV. just NO energy at all. It is good to here the chants and such.
is high quality, but it keeps skipping frames, giving it the quality of an early 20th century film. Evidently everybody skates 120 mph.
Looks like Brian got his wish RE attendance, brutal.
Brian's "wish" is that these playoff games will be hosted at sites that are actually in close proximity to the student fanbases of the schools in question.
Thank god for ESPNU
I spent the whole first period watching it on ESPN3 while my sleeping wife had Dancing With the Stars on the TV.
I've fixed that situation.
hahaha i like it.
I'm on North Campus watching it on my computer. Was trying to do work, but that's not gonna happen, and too lazy to go home in between periods to watch it on TV.
North Dakota scares the shit out of me....literally. Their color green...its just....ahhhh!

After sitting through Michigan getting thrashed at the Ralph in the '06 Regional, then the total debacle that was the '07 game in Denver... I still have nightmares about NoDak.
But we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

watching Michigan play Colorado College, I was in Cincinnati watching Morrison tuck one into the goal in OT. I know they've played since, but man, that was sweet.
Go Blue!
Is it too much to ask for the cameraman to follow the puck?

About 15 seconds left in OT, that just glided RIGHT past the goal.

to Penn Gillette, for insulting him.

When he rocked just the 'stache, he looked quite a bit like an old Ron Jeremy. No joke.

is for Rust to go all late 90's Draper on Jaden Schwartz. Mirror mirror mirror, don't let the mothafucker breathe fresh air.

keep up the pressure, bound to draw a penalty.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:16 PM ^
Man, we're really flying out there! Intercepting pucks, keeping it in their zone.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
every once in awhile the band sounds like it's just recorded and piped into the room.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:16 PM ^
there's not a few hundred students and a few thousand fans cheering and singing along to back them up.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
and nothing to help absorb the sound. it sounds like it is just bouncing around the room.

The music program at M is great, and a lot of people can play very loud and very in tune. Putting a 40-piece pep band playing fortissimo all the time into a near-empty arena, especially in a prime seating area, is going to be loud and echo-y. Good for spirit, not so good for overall aesthetics of the music but that's secondary to the whole point of pep band.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
I don't know exactly what it is, but there's an NCAA rule that only allows like 25-30 pep band members in NCAA tourney games. The normal band at Yost is closer to 80, if I remember correctly.
But good points!
March 26th, 2011 at 10:45 PM ^
I didn't know there was a cap on the size of the band in the tourney. Thanks for the info.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
24 instrumentalists + director makes 25. They check ID's against a list at the door, and are extremely stringent about the cap. It's incredibly ridiculous.
The numbers usually translate into a band that's hopelessly small and thin for the kinds of music the hockey band usually plays.

Whatever the CCHA Tourny Western game was, this is the opposite.

tonight, the strategy appears to be CREATE CHAOS! They seem to just be diving into passing laneseverywhere, just getting in between everybody whether there's a strategy after that or not.

Moffie, that was an MSU-caliber play.
March 26th, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
Yea that was just a bad play that ended up with him being caught with his pants down. If he doesn't take the penalty CC has a 2 on 1 odd man break.
