he does it while shooting a high percentage!
Teams will have to start accounting for him.

What a slick pass from Stauskas.
Does anyone else think that Stauskas is always going to hit it when he shoots? Dude is MONEY.
And nice pass on the roll there.
I do not see how Beilein resists running plays for him everytime down the court...
TIL Tim Harddaway only takes his son to dinner when he plays well.
Bruce Pearl is awful
Bruce cannot shut up, and would be heckled by State fans. I think I would support them in that, actually. ALSO GO BADGERS!
I, too, live in Wisconsin, thou from your comment I think you knew that somehow...
Beilein's system + guys who can consistently shoot the three = absolutely, positively full of win.
or like a 1,2, or 3 and done?
don't talk like that. we're keeping him forever.
He's not nearly athletic enough to jump early to the NBA. He gets away with it here, but in the NBA, it would really hurt his game, especially on defense with man-to-man all the time. He'll be here at least three years. If he stays four, he'll rival Glen Rice in stats and love and legend.
If he is a guy who needs the money or is looked upon to be a major bread winner then the moment he is projected high in the draft, he is gone.
If money and the draft is secondary to a degree then he will stay all four years.
I think he's gotta stay. I can't think of an NCAA sharpshooter who bolted for the NBA early, much less succeeded. JJ Reddick, Adam Morrison, Jimmer Fredette, and I'm sure there's better examples
Yea, I don't think he's going anywhere soon. He needs at least another year or two to develop his skills in other areas of the game.
let's finish them off like a potential final four team should
to go up 10-7 at half
This isn't the SEC Championship thread
Lets see if they can step on the throat this time
I'm buying my son the UM uniform for Chirstmas. Blue - first time I've seen it this year and it looks great. Buying #3 b/c my son plays PG. But for the life of me, if they sold a #11, that would be the jersey.
Stauskas rules. Check out his home training youtube videos.
When Bruce Pearl says it there is no sincerity in his voice.
"Back Door". GO BADGERS!
with "size matters". Ha. GO BADGERS!
size DOES matter....Brucy Boy
he should announce womens' games.
and we're leading by 15....hmmm
Way to jinx that shit.
Size matters. Bruce Pearl knows this.
Especially insofar as margin of victory in first round NCAA tournament games is concerned.
crap, stauskas is only shooting 80% from beyond the arc.
thanks for the medical tips.
Basketball Stud right here!
... In that pic.
Or a Michael Cera look-alike contest
Or he's bitter still from us humiliating his Tennessee team in his last game as coach
Sure, their 3 point shooting has been a lot better in this game than earlier in their season. That does not mean it has "come around"
To see him miss that.
Of course you don't Bruce...
up top are really disturbing. happening way too much this year. could only be worse when playing teams like osu and msu.
that was a blocking foul
Stop turning the ball over
our late game offense/defense is horrendous
HOLD ONTO THE DAMN FOOTBALL. WAIT. just ball
Tim SR needs to talk to his son about dribbling the damn the ball
Enters the game and the team begins to stall. Correlation?
THIS TEAM CAN NOT CLOSE OUT GAMES.
Christ, stop being so fucking tenative and play your game that got you a 16 point lead. Unbelivable.
i think they can or else they wouldn't be 6-0
Giving up 11 straight to Bradley is not closing games out.
This team needs to learn how to put teams away....for this though, a great game for us...a true teaching game
6 times this game. Unacceptable!
Criticizing ThJ when he has a bad game is apparently frowned upon on this site...
Again this team is having trouble dropping the guillotine on teams late in the game. I hope this cleans up by B1G time.
why do we keep doing this at the end of games? i want to win games by 15 damn it
So much for that extra practice time they devoted to closing out games. Ugly.
when the action is going on in the court, don't fucking pan the camera over to the benches or crowd, mmkay?
... We gotta get our ducks in a row.
Stauskas should have shot that
You tell 'em, coach!
that was a layup for him. take the open shot when you have it. that's why we're struggling.
We are really sloppy and the defense is probably going to be average at best this year, its almost like we play a lot of freshman. But seriously we are going to lose at least one game on the road to a team nowhere near us on talent, I predict it will be iowa.
We don't plat at Iowa this year.
Well damn, maybe it will happen at home but there is going to be a game that we cough up a lead and lose a game we should win, hopefully its not an important one.
play for the ball my ass
Surprise surprise, Pearl doesn't think the foul was intentional
no wonder why Bruce Pearl doesn't coach basketball anymore.. he sucks and stupid
These refs just cant agree on anything now can they.
I just don't understand the late game sputter. It's like they just say "fuck it, we're up 15". Besides obvious attitude issues, it gonna kill us in the B1G
They definitely are starting to act like they just deserve to win vs. playing all the way through the game. Hope Belien chews some butt after this game as they just keep losing focus every time they could close it out and make stupid turnovers.
11 straight by Bradley. WTF???
and now we were up 15 with like 5:00 to go and let Bradley storm back in while we derp around for a few minutes
Come on, that was a break away foul earlier, shoulda been our ball the other way and where is our defense?
Hardaway god lord do something positive, for the 2nd consecutive game we're crapping the bed down the stretch.
Does anyone know if the Bradley crowd is leaving?
No, they're still there.
No and they chant overrated?
I think it was at burke, not the team in general
I love this team. They play hard and smart all 35 minutes of the game.
Why the hell do we just run clock late in games. Score. Score score. Who gives a shit about running clock. Keep doing what you are doing. They did the same thing against NC State too. Burke needs to take charge.
Every Bradley student they have shown has really bad acne. I wonder if they use corn oil as face moisturizer in central Illinois...
The cheerleaders weren't half bad
...To look at all the ugly Bradley students. Let the pain end! Close this out!
give the ball to Nik he is the best free throw shooter
I blame the guy who posted the preview about how horrible Bradley's 3-point shooting was for how close this game is.
Stauskus had 10 times the potential, Shurna wished he could drive and dribble as well, and Staustus' jumper actually is fundamentally correct, future 1st round pick vs. Big Ten average player
That's dumb. Shurna was all big ten. I dont think there games are at all alike bit Shurna was far from an average Big 10 player
With youth comes a lack of merciless, killer instinct. Once they let a game slip through their hands (which I hope it doesn't come to that), they'll take a new approach to the end of games.
We are having some serious issues closing out games. Beilein needs to address this or its going to cost us more than a few wins this year.
fucking foul, come on guys
no way that ref could see if Nik fouled there... these refs suck
There it is.... why..... worst chant in sports
Disagree. I contend that you suck is the worst chant in sports.
Too many sloppy, lazy possessions on both sides of the ball, but especially on offense. Too many times Burke and THJ dribbled into traffic with no clue. Too many disinterested defensive sequences. A seeming lack of focus down the stretch, allowing Bradley to claw their way back into the game. JB will no doubt let the guys know of his unhappiness with that level of play.
However, it's always tough to win on the road so any victory over a decent team in their house is a good one. This game felt like a B1G road game with Bradley's home crowd. Learn and move on to the next one!
I am kinda glad that we are having trouble here...I would rather we struggle away in the non-conference so we can learn how to fight at the end of the game. I don't want this team to learn how to finish games in the B1G schedule
We're shooting under 70% from the line. How can this team do this?
Off day from THjr, but it's so nice to have other options besides Burke.
Sloppy game, many teaching moments for the coaches.
With GR III? Why hasn't he been in in the last 10 min? I just started watching.
It won't look that way, since we should've won by more. That team was good and lucky though, so the win was better than it looked. Then we started to play like shit. They still have a lot to learn from this win
That's the second consecutive poor close out of the game. We were up by 16 and they went on a 11-0 run. unacceptable
You need to update your signature for the Iowa win.
Stauskas can shoot
improve those two and we are world beaters. if it doesn't improve, we are going to lose some extremely frustrating games
I would be worried, but we basically play nobody for like the next month so I feel pretty good about everything getting straightened out for conference play.
IU played at home in a big-time game. This was us working out the kinks in a mid-major's arena. It was a solid if uninspired performance.
We have 3 quality wins against KemPom's #2 major conference schedule. We're fine.
Michigan dominated a team that is probably better than UNC (NC State) at home as well.
with some of the comments here that we need to keep running our offense instead of dribbling the clock down in order to take a desperate shot.
However, our studs played average at best, Bradley chucked up some ugly 3's and hit them and yet we never trailed or even were tied in this game. Learn from it and move on.
True, and is sure is a lot more fun to learn from a close win than a loss.
I'm glad this game was scheduled. To get the freshmen an idea of what playing on the road is like.
Just like how the NIT Season Tip-Off was great prep for the NCAA Tournament/B1G Tournament. Neutral site, high-stakes.
Exactly right. Even if they had lost (and I'm very glad they didnt) this game was way more valuable to the larger goals of winning the B1G and perhaps the whole thing, than pummelling Alabama Alcorn or some crap school like that at home.
Did we burn his red shirt when he played tonight, or is he allowed so much playing time?
Unless he gets injured down the road, it's burned.
Thanks! I thought I had just read somewhere they were going to try to red shirt him, unless they absolutely needed him..
Concerned about depth. After an off season of thinking that M could be 8-10 deep this season, it seems there are really only 6 consistent contributors, same as last season. I'm glad that LeVert is getting a shot. Where is Horford? I wish Spike could see a bit more time as well for the sake of Burke's legs, but I understand that one. I'm also glad to see Vogrich and Akunne getting fewer minutes.
If Bielfeldt continues to develop then things might be just fine, but I'm worried about the lack of contributing guard reserves.
I think it's to be expected after three straight tough games with a lot of hype to have a bit of a letdown when you travel to a MVC team. And if they just keep running the offense instead of going into grind it out mode, they win by double digits.
Interior defense is concerning though. That's been a repeated issue.
Stauskas was impressive: 22 pts on 8-15 shooting (4-5 for 3), 2-2 from the line, 3 rbs, 2 stls
Trey Burke had 16 pts, not so efficient shooting at 5-13 (1-5 for 3), hit all 5 FTs, 5 assts to 2 TOs, 3 rbs
Little Big Dog got us going early, finished with 13 pts on 4-6 (1-2 for 3), 4-5 from the line, 4 rbs, 2 assts
Jordan Morgan got a double-double, 10 pts & 10 rbs. 3-5 shooting, 4-6 from the line.
THjr only 9 pts on 4-9 (1-2 for 3), 0-1 from the line, 5 TOs (ugh!), 2 rbs, 2 assts, 2 blks, 1 stl
Here's my concern: with Stauskas starting, there's hardly any scoring off the bench. McGary and Biefeldt had 2 pts each. Nada from LeVert, Albrecht and Vogrich.
Only 13 turnovers? Seemed like more. THjr with 5, Burke, Morgan, and GRIII had 2, Stauskas and McGary 1 each.
evan turner taught beilein everything he knows about closing out games.
which does not appear to be much.
hire a coaching consultant for end of game pleeaase!
People are getting a little too worked up about the last few minutes. Basketball's a game of runs. It's not like we were up 15 all game long. For most of the game, our lead was around 5-7 points. We happened to go on a spurt to go up 15 and they went on one, too. The final score was pretty indicative of how the game unfolded.
