How confident are you that Hoke is the guy?

I'm really not trying to troll here. I know that bad games happen, especially with a very young team.  I also know that sometimes, your team just doesn't show up and that winning is all that matters.  Hoke has done a lot of good, but let's face some facts here.

That was 3 yards away from being the worst loss is program history, and there are some serious concerns that do not seem to be getting better.  Our offensive line has arguably gotten worse ever year of Hoke's tenure.  I know they are young on the inside, but we just outworked by Akron's D Line. The defensive turnaround the first year was impressive, but the defense seems to be getting worse, and Mattison was absolutely schooled today by Bowden.  For having coaches who specialize in the D Line, ours is awful.  Being young is one thing, but I just don't see the kind of week to week improvement that you would expect at this point.

You're a troll and a stupid one at that.

Yes, the line has regressed since Hoke's first year.  That happens when the Rimington winner graduates and then the next year your entire interior line graduates.

What the fuck did you expect?!

For better or worse you have to judge Hoke in 2015 not 2013.  His recruiting is top notch, his family atmosphere stuff is top notch, his Michigan man stuff is top notch.  Until he has his players in, and in as upperclassmen it is too soon to judge.  Rich Rod defenders will say he was judged in year 3 but unless we get blown out by 40 (?) in our bowl game by the 5th best SEC team it is a different situation.    2014 is going to be tough on offense as all our top line skill players leave except Devin (I assume not Devin), along with the tackles.  So it will be an extremely young offense in 2014 and you need to live on that defense.  Which means he DL has to take leaps and bounds in the next 11 months.  Then in 2015 you have Shane + depth everywhere and Hoke's depth.  If they do just another 9-3 or 8-4 season in 2015 there will be major questions about Hoke.  But now?  Too soon.

them gain too much weight. Joke and Pattinson are unwilling to have that light weight speed end that you need to rush 4, apparently due to fears against the run. Run defense wasn't as bad as people think but pass d will be terrible due to lack of rush unless a miracle occurs.

When the post-game snowflakes bury me out on the cold tundra I begin to feel so warm. So warm. This is a nice way to die, feeling warm and settled, at peace with barely beating a team with decal zippers on their helmets.

Seriously, all the pressure in game 1 was from teh blitz. As units the big guys in the trenches haven't been able to bring it. Story of the season so far.

Gardner TOs yeah, but UM should be opening huge running lanes and sacking MAC teams with DL.

Shouldn't need Gardner QB runs to move the  ball.

This is all BTN's fault. Until they broadcast the horror, we never lost to MAC schools or even came close, really.

/not really, just trying to find something to help with the ridiculous embarrassment of beating Akron on a stupid play all and lucky blitz.

I seriously question if they even prepared for Akron this week.

This was almost a disgrace, poor job all around. Hopefully it is a learning experience. I absolutely think this team was extremely cocky and this should be a huge kick to their balls.

I saw a team to through the motions of wanting to play. No fire or passion. They didn't respect their opponent and thats on the head coach. This team was soft all day. My biggest concern is the dline. They are a sorry bunch. And that the spot Hoke focuses all his attention on. What's that say?

Perhaps Eminem was looking a week into the future and that's why he looked catatonic for the first minute or so of the Musberger/Herbstreit interview?

Whatever, I will adopt that blank-eyed stare for the rest of the day if anyone asks me about this game.

The LG and center positions are just awful. I think for the betterment of the team Mike needs to be moved back to LG. Take Glascow out. Leave Miller at center because we have no better options. Then insert Braden at RT or Mags. On defense are corners need to be closer than 10 yards off the line. I understand its a scheme things with giving up the short stuff and making good tackles to limit big plays but its not working. Instead it gives the QB and WRs confidence with quick easy completions. When it comes to getting pressure... Were just fucked till Jake gets back. That simple. And Devin puts to much pressure on himself.

Young team, emotional win last week, turnovers. It happens to a lot of teams. You wish it wouldn't happen to our team but yeah.

I don't know what Gardner was seeing today, it's very frustrating that our D-Line can't get pressure without blitzing, and our O-Line can't run block for shit.

Worried about Big Ten play now.

We have all the same issues we had last year and we'll have them again next year too.  We can't run block, we couldn't last year, and we won't next year either when Lewan & Schofield leave.  We have no pass rush, we didn't last year, and we won't next year unless Hand comes, is insane, and is good in year one.  We are still soft in the back end, we were last year, and I hope it will be better as I expect Peppers to start at CB in year one opposite Countess, but who will play opposite Wilson at safety?  And, we can't stop turning the ball over, we couldn't last year, and apparently we can't this year either.  It all makes sense, I think the answers to most of these problems are either already on the team or have signed as a recruit and/or will very soon.  But, it will take the trenches time to develop on both sides, we still need Hand, & Peppers is otw.  But, man it's just so frustrating to see the same struggles from last year still here and seem like they may still be here next year.  It's like we are a young team every year.  Why can't we just be experienced AND talented already argh!  It just shouldn't take this long.

Something I've enjoyed during this coaching staff's tenure is their ability to adjust when things aren't working. I'm failing to understand why M's DBs continued to give such big cushions to Akron's receivers. You can't chalk it up to "bend, don't break" this week, I don't think.

Mods can't handle the truth, this team fuckng blows, everyone on offense minus Lewan is a shit show

These kids go to Michigan for fucking free. I pay $50,000 a year to go here. Excuse me for not feeling sorry when they can;t fucking play football well enough to beat Akron, when that's what they're here to do
