not the be all and end all when your facing an option offense. Playing smart assignment oriented football is  the major key, unfortunately that didn't happen today. I am still am not writing this team off in terms of winning the Big Ten, but man this defense needs to start executing their assignments sigficantly better than what we have seen so far.

D was better once they pulled Washington. He will be better suited for conference games. Jake Ryan is a stud. Desmond Morgan looked a tad slow. Solid game by DRob and what could be a really good receiving corp by mid year.

Yeah let's avoid playing triple option teams in the future. Especially the week after playing a team like Alabama.

I'd be okay with us never playing a service academy again.

For people freaking out, remember that AFA gae Boise St. all they could handle last year as well.  It is sad to say, but ND will be the first time anyone will get a true sense about this team.

in the B10 but my God that tripple option was relentless. Hell if our offense ran that we would destroy any opponent in the B10 that we play with our speed! I'm just happy we won't see it again but I see now why it's so damn effective in the Mountain West. Fitz looked awful today. Couldn't find lanes or openings and he just didn't seem himself. Denard dominated on the ground and I have officially dubbed Jake Ryan Clay Matthews Jr.

I know it's hard to guage our defense against Alabama and then Air Force, but my visceral reaction to these last two games is: WHAT THE GOD DAMNED FUCK WHO THE HELL BUILT THE TIME MACHINE AND BROUGHT BACK 2010

weren't going to be a good unit coming into the season? Not sure where you getting that at all, most of us expected the linebackers and secondary to be two positions of strength.

Like I said I am not writing this defense off yet. Do certain players need to step and play a lot better? Absolutely, but I believe those particular players  are better that what they have shown so far. I think people need to step back and not overreact to these first two games, regardless of how dissapointing they may have been. One was against a great  o-line and the other was against an offense that is difficult to prepare for.

Let's see how the defense looks against ND. If it still looks bad in that game, than it may be time to panic.

I don't know what scares me more. The offensive line not getting any push, against a small front... or the defensive line being owned by a small front.

Well thankfully we have a baby seal next week and that gives us time to prepare for our first traditional sort of game with ND.   Hopefully the coordinators can shore up what looks like so far to be a mediocre football team.

I'm just going to bring up the Elephant in the Room, Calhoun had a serious issue with his nervous "readjustment" twitch. It was seriously a problem.

Holy Hell people. Settle down a little bit, eh? Sure the defense was pathetic, but I doubt that we'll face a team that attempts to cut block like AF again this season.

And saying that this is going to be a losing season? Look at the rest of the Big Ten right now, just about nobody looks good. Not all is lost, so lets just all have a beer and relax a bit.
