You know I thought if we kept them under 30 we would be fine. I just expected to score 2 or 3 more times.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:48 PM ^
when you don't have the ball. The offense would of put of 40+ easily if the defense would of have done a better job of getting off the field.

Let the defensive panic threads commense all week!!!
September 8th, 2012 at 6:44 PM ^
Thought the freshman showed pretty decently. Demens sure liked having Martin amd RVB last year. On to next week.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:46 PM ^
31-25 final. Now let's get hammered and forget about this game.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:46 PM ^
Time for the special snowflake posts to commence.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:47 PM ^
Thank God for Jack Daniels and Leinenkiugels creamy dark ! They where life savers today!
September 8th, 2012 at 7:11 PM ^
It was a Zoloft day.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:47 PM ^
we might want to rethink that "heavy" dl with campbell and washington. those guys get no penetration
September 8th, 2012 at 6:52 PM ^
not the be all and end all when your facing an option offense. Playing smart assignment oriented football is the major key, unfortunately that didn't happen today. I am still am not writing this team off in terms of winning the Big Ten, but man this defense needs to start executing their assignments sigficantly better than what we have seen so far.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:48 PM ^
D was better once they pulled Washington. He will be better suited for conference games. Jake Ryan is a stud. Desmond Morgan looked a tad slow. Solid game by DRob and what could be a really good receiving corp by mid year.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:49 PM ^
Iowa Iowa state 9-6 with 1:14 to go. I like a defensive game but really?
September 8th, 2012 at 6:50 PM ^
The B1G looks weak.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:49 PM ^
We win 6 this year wit loses to bama of course ND, MSU, NEB, IOwa and Ohio teAm 133 lol
September 8th, 2012 at 6:54 PM ^
Iowa? Are you kidding? They look horrible this year.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:50 PM ^
Yeah let's avoid playing triple option teams in the future. Especially the week after playing a team like Alabama.
I'd be okay with us never playing a service academy again.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
James Ross and joe bolden are studs
September 8th, 2012 at 6:58 PM ^
Why do you hate America?
September 8th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
For people freaking out, remember that AFA gae Boise St. all they could handle last year as well. It is sad to say, but ND will be the first time anyone will get a true sense about this team.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
Boise St. huh?
September 8th, 2012 at 6:57 PM ^
in the B10 but my God that tripple option was relentless. Hell if our offense ran that we would destroy any opponent in the B10 that we play with our speed! I'm just happy we won't see it again but I see now why it's so damn effective in the Mountain West. Fitz looked awful today. Couldn't find lanes or openings and he just didn't seem himself. Denard dominated on the ground and I have officially dubbed Jake Ryan Clay Matthews Jr.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
there was nowhere to run when Fitz got the ball. It was very strange, when Denard ran there was holes galore, but on RB runs the o-line wasn't creating lanes at all.
September 9th, 2012 at 12:51 AM ^
It's because Service and Freedom were killing it. Those two guys were in on every play...
September 8th, 2012 at 6:57 PM ^
When we play a more traditional offense then I'll complain if the defense still sucks
September 8th, 2012 at 7:00 PM ^
Glad that's over with. I have since turned to the ND vs Purdue game to root for the Boilermakers. Which is now tied.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:04 PM ^
1. Is there a possibility we might drop out of the top 25 cause of this game?
2. Will Purdue be ranked should they beat the Irish?
September 8th, 2012 at 7:08 PM ^
F-ck the rankings.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:09 PM ^
1. I don't think we move up any spots. But I guess that depends on how things shake up in the top 25.
2. I don't think they get ranked Purdue is letting the game get away from them.
September 8th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
I know it's hard to guage our defense against Alabama and then Air Force, but my visceral reaction to these last two games is: WHAT THE GOD DAMNED FUCK WHO THE HELL BUILT THE TIME MACHINE AND BROUGHT BACK 2010
September 8th, 2012 at 7:02 PM ^
yikes.
I say bench morgan and demens now and go with the frosh at LB. Also go smaller on DL and just hope we can slant and make penetrating plays with F. Clark, Roh, Black and on DT
September 8th, 2012 at 7:14 PM ^
weren't going to be a good unit coming into the season? Not sure where you getting that at all, most of us expected the linebackers and secondary to be two positions of strength.
Like I said I am not writing this defense off yet. Do certain players need to step and play a lot better? Absolutely, but I believe those particular players are better that what they have shown so far. I think people need to step back and not overreact to these first two games, regardless of how dissapointing they may have been. One was against a great o-line and the other was against an offense that is difficult to prepare for.
Let's see how the defense looks against ND. If it still looks bad in that game, than it may be time to panic.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:24 PM ^
They would suck ... I have called for the freshmen to play but i'm not the coach
September 8th, 2012 at 7:02 PM ^
94 plays run by AF. OMG!
September 8th, 2012 at 7:32 PM ^
Death by UFR.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
"Our kicking game has been... [hoke winces] better"
Needz MOAR spread punt
September 8th, 2012 at 7:07 PM ^
Thought the same thing... Thats our biggest gain this yr? Gonna be a long year boys.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:23 PM ^
I don't know what scares me more. The offensive line not getting any push, against a small front... or the defensive line being owned by a small front.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:19 PM ^
Well thankfully we have a baby seal next week and that gives us time to prepare for our first traditional sort of game with ND. Hopefully the coordinators can shore up what looks like so far to be a mediocre football team.
September 8th, 2012 at 7:21 PM ^
for the big ten...
September 8th, 2012 at 7:36 PM ^
Air Forces triple option attack made the Michigan defense look worse than what it really is. Still need to make improvement on defense.

September 8th, 2012 at 7:46 PM ^
I'm just going to bring up the Elephant in the Room, Calhoun had a serious issue with his nervous "readjustment" twitch. It was seriously a problem.
September 8th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
Holy Hell people. Settle down a little bit, eh? Sure the defense was pathetic, but I doubt that we'll face a team that attempts to cut block like AF again this season.
And saying that this is going to be a losing season? Look at the rest of the Big Ten right now, just about nobody looks good. Not all is lost, so lets just all have a beer and relax a bit.
September 8th, 2012 at 8:59 PM ^
I reiterate what i said in an earlier post. 2 plays in a row early in 4th quarter where Campbell was 3 yards downfield standing straight up and an AF linemen right in his chest. That cant be blamed on cut blocking.
September 8th, 2012 at 10:20 PM ^
Haven't heard from Sparty about 16 yet, have we?
September 9th, 2012 at 1:02 AM ^
Holy Haysoos, we have 3 D-Line coaches and that's the worst unit on the team.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:47 AM ^
But Air Forces coach could not go 20 seconds without scratching his balls.
It was embarrassing & disgusting, yet ESPN would not stop airing it. I hope Uncle Sam says something because that's not America, that's not even Mexico!
