We're going to need a healthy Lexi to challenge Illinois next weekend, hopefully we can take them and get another big win against a team (currently) ranked higher than us. Also a question: Does anyone know why Karlee Bruck is getting a lot more playing time? It seems like she's doing a pretty good job, but is it because she's challenging Fletch, or is she injured or something, or just because Coach Rosen thinks he needs to sub a little more to keep everyone fresh? It seems like Sloane is subbing in and out more often as well.

I know nothing for fact. I kind of thought it was an attempt to get a little better block in and because Fletch hasn't been as big a factor as she was early in the season. She's not scoring as many aces, and her kill percentage has dropped a bit. Bruck was a very solid player even last year, and I was pretty surprised to see Fletch take over her spot to start the season. So yeah, I think it has more to do with Bruck being a great bench player when Fletch is just hitting a slow period. I hadn't noticed a change in Sloane's court time as the season has progressed. That said, I can't really see how often the libero is coming into the game either due to the whole free substitution thing. I thought she was coming in for the middles in the back row consistently all season. She serves in Rood's spot and plays the back for Fletch and Rood. Has there been a change otherwise?

It could just be I don't remember Sloane subbing out earlier, but now that Bruck is in often and ¡Maggie Busch! gets to serve for her all the time I'm just noticing Sloane's ins and outs more. I'd noticed Fletch's slow down and Karlee is definitely very solid, I was just making sure there wasn't a known excuse for the slow-down. Second question: On the window of the ticket booth at Keen tonight, there was a sign that said "Recruits" (of course it would be on a day where The Zone isn't in full force. At all.) Know anything about that?

Maggie Busch is really solid on serve and defense, and I don't know what Sloane's issue was Friday (seemed to be resolved on Saturday). There may have been a correlation there since Sloane wouldn't sub in for her. Fletch is high risk, high reward and wasn't paying off. Also, commenting from Keen on the iPhone is really tough. The MGo interface is not mobile friendly and volleyball moves so fast that you can't afford to tear your eyes away for long. I noticed the Recruits sign, too, this weekend and I'm not sure I've seen it before. They had a separate table for high school team check-in, which was definitely new.
