I was shocked to see that a pos-bang thread had not yet been created, normally they are up already at 12:05am. So......BANG ME.....?

Heard from a friend who’s a Boston University alum and college hockey fan who says that they’re experimenting with some early Saturday start times this season because they’re hoping that (a) they can get more students to the games, if the students know that the early games won’t interfere with other Saturday night activities, and (b) they can get more families with young children to the games, because the parents either won’t have to worry about paying for a Saturday night babysitter, or they still can go out on Saturday night.

Apparently, BU has been suffering hockey attendance problems in recent years, particularly among their students, many of whom live in dorms a block away from their arena. This might work well in years when they’ve got two good goalies and a lot of roster depth.

BU’s off to a slow start this season, but they’re unbeaten at home and coming off a weekend when they tied defending national champion Providence in back-to-back games – Friday in Providence; Saturday in Boston. (BU lost that national championship game after their goalie suffered a late-game meltdown in a game that BU could’ve won.)

FYI for Michigan fans in the New York area who don't have access to NESN or TSN2, tonight's game is supposed to be telecast on the American Sports Network, but SNY has the game listed on its schedule.

It would the totally logical college football thing for MSU to beat OSU tomorrow, PSU to lose to UM, then UM beat OSU and PSU beat MSU for the UM conference title.

Thanksgiving is a two-week ordeal at my house usually - it begins tonight with prep for meal #1, which is tomorrow with a fraction of the family. It is at my house, the Penn State will be on despite the protests of the kids and fun will be had in lieu of a Michigan victory hopefully.

So, between freaking out about cooking and needing to do a few things around the yard before the snow, a bang would definitely help. I promise turkey snadwiches if I can keep my family from picking the damn turkey to the bone.

As there will be 14 other people i nthe house, all of whom really don't invest nearly the time I do in sports or indeed even care, it's more about them having fun. I'll be the one in front of the TV freaking out and pacing at various points if it gets close or there some BS call or whatever. I definitely won't be in a state to have fun per se.
