This was a bad loss but at the end of the day it is just that: one loss.

Will be interesting to see how the team responds; will they come out and hang their heads or make a stand and push back. This is a tougher road but the nice thing about college basketball is there are many games. If they make it out of the non-conference at 9-3 it won't be the end of the world and there will be plenty for which to play.

It may not be fair but one loss does not destroy a season when it comes to basketball. Our guys just need to listen to the coaches, work hard every day, and when the bell rings again come out fighting.

and seeing Spartan fans soil themselves over this. Seem to forget their team is no world beater either.

This kind of stuff happens in basketball, NJIT was making everything they looked at regardless of if there was a hand in their face or not and only Levert could really get anything going offensively for Michigan.  The team is still learning, they'll be fine.

This was a terrible performance and the team just got a major reality check.  Defensive communication and intensity have to be much better for this team to win.

However, people saying that this is a "historic embarrassment" and such are going overboard.  Games like this happen in college basketball.  By tourney time you'll see a bunch of teams in the field with "WTF?" losses on their resume.   We just have to move on and not have any repeat performances.

Brady has been assisting Beilein in the former's free time. Or there was helluva campus party last night and Caris did not attend. This team is stained, I hope they can manage to wash it out. Out damn spot now.

Beilein didn't seem to disappointed but this is a really bad loss. Gotta win some games in the big ten to guarantee a ncaa bid

People freaking out and talking about the NIT need to chill out.  Was Michigan bad defensively?  Yes.  Did NJIT still hit several crazy shots and play way over their head?  Yes.  Zak Irvin shot 2-11.  I'm going to guess that won't happen again.

Now, this team will either rally around this and bounce back as a much better team, or they have systemic issues and will crumble.  My guess is that the players will develop as they have under Beilein and the consistency will come.  Better now than during the Big 10 season.

nitpicking here, but i don't understand why beilein didn't try to extend the game.  down one with 40 secs to go and NJIT ball.  i would have tried for an early steal then fouled.  not doing that, you're hoping to get a rebound at your own end with 5 secs left to get a shot off.

by fouling, beilein could have stretched the game out to 3-4 possessions in that last 40 secs.

Over the years that even when it's the basketball team that loses I feel nothing after a few minutes.

I'm going to learn to follow that. /s This sucks but Belein is as good as they get. We don't have the talent of the last three years, but we could be a sweet sixteen team. The pollsters don't blink an eye when msu loses early. Everyone will forget this. That said, there's a lot of coaching to do.
