LONG OVERDUE
Michigan v. MSU Postgame Thread (discussion)
I said to my dad that burke should have not taken the layup and pulled it out and held for the last shot after that steal but that was just a crazy game theory that comes out of my head during a nerve racking game. Glad he dunked it and we won.
Go Blue!
But passing up an open dunk in a tie game? Yes, crazy!
Crisler seemed very energetic. Thanks, old people, for filling in for some of the missing spring breakers.
New Commits? POSSIBLY YOU, Drake Harris and Malik McDowell!

- I never thought I'd see the day when Crisler gave us a larger-than average home advantage. That place was a madhouse
- McGary!!!!!11!!1
- I cant believe we couldn't even make one triple...we'll probably not see that again for a long time.
- Did we just go beastmode in the paint?! Aww yeahhhh

The guy is a control freak.
He has to control every step of every game.
I GUARANTEE he leads the country of all coaches in timeouts used. He'll use all of this TOs up or down 20, he's always going to call it.
But I agree, it could've cost them.

it amuses me that we beat MSU at home without a touchdown or 3 point shot in the last season...lolz
Something rarely thought about, I would think, emerges when you consider the 0-12 performance in three-point land.
| TEAM | FG% | 3FG% | FT% | Eff. FG% |
| MICHIGAN | 42.4% | 0.0% | 72.7% | 42.4% |
| MICHIGAN ST. | 35.6% | 27.3% | 75.0% | 40.7% |
We still outshot them despite being outrebounded (28 total to their 41, and 9 offensive rebounds to their 17), but sloppiness with the ball (18 turnovers to out 7 turnovers) and some inattention on the part of State (compare our 11 steals to their 3) made all the difference in the world.
Playing hard...that was awesome.

Michigan loses to PSU despite scoring seventy-eight points but beats MSU w/out a made three. We knew this team could surprise us in bad ways, but now we know they can surprise us in good ways too. Great, great win...Also, Caris Levert = valuable player. Very happy for the kid.

He and Coach B are #class all the way.
My first thought when Coach B was (rightfully) going nuts in the first half after a TERRIBLE call was..."what is Mr. Glick going to think!?"

Hardaway didn't shoot well but awesome D by him today. Valentine/Dawson were a non factor in this game.
Coulda/should been playing Indiana for a share (or outright) B1G title.
Negativity aside, it's always fantastic to beat State regardless of circumstances. Go blue!
never been more happy to be wrong. if you told me that we would get killed on the glass and have no 3 pointers I would have thought they would lost handily.
the first 10 minutes of the second half, we finally got home cooking from the refs. then they just stopped calling fouls on them.
I thought Lavert was outstanding. a number of times I thought great play Hardaway. only to great that it was Lavert.
Great job today! I saw a lot of hustle, and not a lot of stupid plays. Who needs threes, right??? But I think Stauskas is more important than "just a shooter that can also drive". I think his ability to get open for good looks is important, because there seemed to be a lack of great looks by Vogrich, LeVert, and Spike. But hey, minor complaints!!! Great game, and go blue! Beat the Hoosiers and Purdue!
Go Blue. Greetings from SEC country.
Yes, the defense stepped up and was affecteive on the guards of the spartans, and i apologize if someone above already mentioned this, but I'm so glad they were actually running some sort of offense again. There weren't many, if any moments of trey burke hero ball where he takes over possesion with 12 seconds left on the shot clock and he holds it to make an isolation play. We were setting screens, making cuts, extra passes when appropriate, everything you want out of an offense. I think a lot of that can be attributed to Jordan Morgan. He is the glue guy on this team and is absolutely vitale to this teams success down the road. Either way, hope this scheme and effort continue the rest of the way. Go Blue!
He was a beast...Appling was riding his back all night because he could not stay in front of Burke. I was most impressed with his defense the last couple minutes. Trey's defense won that game.
Trey's game has left me in complete awe. He really is something special. Just enjoy him while we have him.

eye of the beholder. I don't care how ugly it is, a win over sparty is always a thing of beauty.
Hopefully we can build on this win for the rest of the season.
On a side note- anyone in attendance spot any visiting recruits? I know we had some visitors this weekend, and they were treated to a great win. Maybe a win on many levels.

Gif-able moments? I posted in the game thread that I would like to see the Sparty cinco defensive floor slap that ended up with Trey breaking down the defense for a lay-up gif-ed. Fucking classic.
The Team, The Team, The Team.
+1 on that request.

5 for 32 in 3-pointers. Getting one win out of that shooting stinkitude is no small achievement.

This thread is unbelievable. I see way too much whining about how we almost threw it away. We won this game because of defense more than anything. No one is excited about that?
more happy celebrating!!! wooooooooo!!!! Beat the Boilermakers!!! Suck it, Spartans!!!
I see people discussing the game.
Sure a win is a win and we'll take it. But someone brought up the topic and it was discussed. I'm glad they didn't get negged to hell for bringing it up too. Half the time people go nuts on people who bring up negative things during a win...like it didn't happen.
Just like the 0-12 from 3...if it wasn't discussed in this thread, I would've never have realized how bad we actually shot.
As long as you're not saying stuff like "we should've lost" or "we suck"...I don't see a problem with discussing the game in its entirety...the good and the bad.
We won by 1 point, there's going to be some bad. If we won 110-57, then I might agree with you.

I've read multiple posts which began, "It sucks that we almost threw it away" or, "The refs screwed us". Deep discussion points, for sure.
I apologize, Mr. Yost. I am just surrounded by Spartan fans and find them terrible awful. They even bother my 9 year old daughter! So I am just ultra happy tonight and really don't give a rip if the team was terrible at anything. So ignore me as I "wooo hooo and Suck it, Spartans!" All. night. long.
Happy with the win. Frustrated as hell with Hardaway.... ironic given how the last play of the game went, but he seemed half asleep at times in the second half.
Go Blue! Always!

Now we should not say ANYTHING about Indiana or a B1G title share...jinxed us pretty bad last time...
