Down 3-10 at halftime...500+ posts in the other thread. Why not try and change the mojo for the 2nd half?

Let's go boys! Let's pick it up!

8-4 is still what I believe this team reaches. Darboh is good, Butt is really good, Smith is a work horse who has his flaws, Johnson will be coming back to take the most carries, Ty will get more carries. Grant Perry and Jake need to just get on page a little better, but Perry is going to be a player. He's been right there all night in his first game on the road. Just needs to tweak a few things. Defense looks good, Wormley is a beast. Peppers is still learning and he needs to slow it down sometimes. He just needs to hone it in a little bit and he'll be fine. They need to get him even more involved. Harbaugh will get things adjusted and the team will progress throughout the season.

Had some great blocks and played well at speed in the last sequence but made a ton of route running errors, one of which caused the critical first pick. The third pick he wasn't great either. Good player but would have liked to see Butt get a look on that third pick and also think the above post WAY overstates the quality of his play today.

The offense still stinks, although it isn't quite as toothless as it was last year. If Rudock can just play 90% as well as he did last year, we should at least get back to a bowl. But today was unforgivable.

Defense isn't bad. Lewis is excellent. Peppers has a long way to go, but he should be a consistent force before too long.

I said 9-4 months ago and I still believe that. This loss could propel us to greater things and improvement. I don't think it will destroy us.

Would have liked.to see morris some in second half after that shitshow by Ruddock. Smith missed wide open runs. I would like to punch Colin cowherd in his fucking beak

Sick of opposing coaches having that swagger after beating us. Like they expect to beat us by more than they did. Or they should have put us in our place. Have we become that team?

I don't think it was worth it to throw Morris in. Ruddock, despite struggles got is within a Td against a team that should have beat us worse.

If he runs off wins up until psu, I am wondering if you will feel the same way?

I think we avoided a qb controversy and will clearly get better under this staff. Sucks wedding get fairy tale start but have to start somewhere.

How does Shane not at least get a series in that debacle?

Co-starter?

Look, I trust Harbs. And shit will happen. But that was a lot of shit all at once.

The difference was 3 interceptions and three overthrows by Ruddock.  In contrast, Travis Wilson played a near perfect game.  Simple as that.

The rest was mostly encouraging.  Outside of the difference in QBs, Michigan showed a good first game performance.

The defense was fine, exactly what we thought they would be--not spectacular but actually pretty good.  Michigan held Booker mostly in check.  Peppers made some great plays.  Overall the D can be really strong by mid-season.

Despite the overthrows and interceptions, Michigan got 20 first downs against a very solid D (Utah also got 20 first downs).  Not spectacular (obviously).  But not bad either.

Michigan outgained Utah 355 yards to Utah's 337 yards (again, even with the 3 overthrows and 3 interceptions). If Ruddock had not played his worst game ever, Michigan would have exceeded 450 yards for sure against a very solid D.

The pass protection was good.

In additon, we now know that we have some decent receivers besides Jake Butt.

RBs missed a few holes (unfortunately on some key plays), but overall ran hard and got some yards after contact.

Michigan put together several sustained drives and, therefore, Michigan possesed the ball for more than 30 minutes of the game.

In short, this was not the incompetent offense we saw last year against Utah. Outside of QB play Michigan actually looked slightly better than Utah.  Even with the near perfect QB play from Wilson, and worst game ever from Ruddock, Michigan outgained Utah.

And Ruddock will not have another game this bad for the rest of the year.  By mid-season this offense should be decent.

Think of it this way.  Even WITH the 3 interceptions, if Ruddock had not overthrown wide open receivers on 3 passes (two being sure TDs) Michigan probably would have won.

We are all impatient after being mostly bad since 2008.  But based on what I say today, this will probably end up as the best Michigan team since 2011 (assuming Ruddock does not average three 3 interceptions per game).
