This is very, very interesting news when you pair it with this from a few months ago that was spotted at the MSBC

UA has been doing some cost cutting in recent years. They've cut some corners on some of their apparel that used to be ground breaking, now it's not as good. Meanwhile, Nike has turned it up a notch and has passed UA, even in areas where UA was a leader. Adidas just seems clueless, still making stuff with the same tech from 5 years ago.

Given the current realities of the garment industries, unless UA does 100% of the manufacturing in first world countries or in whole owned subsidiaries, I would have a hard time believing this.  Its basically 100% that any work contracted out to third world companies will be subcontracted and then re-subcontracted out until such a time that it is using child labor.

I'm fine with it. As long as Michigan can keep them in line so they don't try to pull a Maryland uni on us, where it looked like they shot an Easter egg basket all over their uniforms.

Maryland got that treatment because they're Under Armour's flagship school. Like Nike and Oregon.

The founder, Kevin Plank, was a walk-on at UMD and they were one of the first schools to partner with them for apparel.

There's no threat to us

Under Armour makes absolutely brutal-looking jerseys in every sport. I would really really really really hate this. I'd rather Michigan stay with Adidas. Really hope Harbaugh, Hackett and anyone else involved aren't down with alternate unis.

Interesting note, looks like Boston College is wearing mostly Bauer (Nike) hockey gear, while Notre Dame is apparently mostly CCM (Adidas). I wonder which direction Michigan would go.

Assuming UA can offer all of the equipment the 25 non-football/basketball sports need, this is the best option, IMO.

Yeah i would assume that we are meeting with each of the "Big 3" (Adidas, Nike and UA) since the apparel deal is almost up.  We're going into free agency so maybe Hackett wants to take all his Official visits and be wined and dined.   Does Bike still exist?   How hilarious would it be to see the coaching staff decked out in those awful Bike shorts that coaches in the 70s and 80s used to wear.

I respectfully disagree. The nicest stuff I have is Nike Pro Combat. UAs stuff was better a few years ago, but Nike has passed them. My Adidas stuff from 20 years ago was pretty good, but the new stuff is average. ...and for shoes...no one is even close to Nike.

Yes Michigan went to Under Armour for a presentation. They will also go to Nike and any other player in the space to hear proposals.

Yeah, I think this is nothing more than Michigan doing due diligence.  Title is a little misleading giving the impression that something serious is going on.  I would hope that they would meet with all interested parties and make a decision after having all of the information in front of them.  Until then, there will probably be a lot more posts like this one.
