Michigan Targeting TX DE Brandon Alexander *Updated*

From Tom's latest tweet

#Michigan is also targeting 3 Star Texas DE Brandon Alexander (6'6", 230 lbs). Alexander has offers from Texas, TCU, A&M, Ok. State.

Now, with all of the recent new targets, I wouldn't normally make a thread. But this kid is a big time player, and pretty much the definition of 'sleeper'. Once his senior film was distributed, his stock rose incredibly quickly, and his offers have all been since then (as a matter of fact, his first Scout entry was in late October of 2010...he's now a 4*). I don't claim to be as much of an expert on analyzing kids as someone like Magnus, but I can tell you that this kid is a stud. Would be a huge get IMO

EDIT: Scout interview says he got an offer

Burgess was a 5*/4* Safety in HS who grew into an outside linebacker at Michigan.

Crable was at least 6'5" but was always at OLB

Pat Massey was about 6'8"and began as a DE but was converted to a DT which was not a great move IMHO and that of many others.

Alexander is a long and tall defensive end that has great quickness and the ability to stay low to blow past offensive linemen. He has a long wingspan and can reach out and snag ball carriers from a distance. He has the penchant for making a big play. Because of his frame he would be the perfect fit to be a big defensive end a 3-4 type of scheme, but could play in any defense.

My summary: Incredible athlete who needs a lot of top notch D-line coaching to reach his potential...hmmm, who do we know who has the resume and ability to coach this kid up?

What I like is him chasing little skill players 40 yds+ down field and actually catching them...Plus beasting O-lineman...Would love to see this kid Go Blue and watch what happens when Hoke/Mattison coach him up since DL happens to be both their expertise. Kid will be a monster once in a real S&C program!

if Texas swallows him up.  They've already got about 371 4* players commited.  Mack Brown should be fired not winning the Big 12 every year with the talent he has at his disposal.

I've heard people on this board complain about that before, but whenever I was playing football, our coaches would always refer to a good player as a "stud."  When I hear other football experts talk about a big time athlete, it's almost always "Kid's a total stud."

I guess I don't understand why some people are adverse to that word.

its creepy and connotes breeding and sexual prowess - which is fine if you are a 16 year old girl - but for a 20-30-40 something guy to be talking about a 17 year old young man as stud - it definitely can be considered creepy.

Now it is less awful than PTPer or Diaper Baby or whatever Dick Vitale is throwing out there, and may be less creepy than Brady Hoke "touchin" em and al Borges "Loving hard on em" and certainly less creepy than Graham James molesting Theo Fleury and Sheldon Kennedy, but yeah - stud = creepy.

So, probably underrated as a 3*.  Brenham is a legit program down there, too--turns out a couple D-I kids every few years.  I've heard aTm is in the driver's seat right now, but I'd rather he go Blue than anything.
