I don't understand why people are so quick to knock Adidas when Under Armour is clearly inferior in nearly every regard. Their alternates are disgustingly ugly- take a look at Notre Dames and Maryland's uniforms.  They don't have a clue in basketball either. Their shoes are awful. People will be wishing for Adidas to come back if we end up with Under Armour.  Adidas at least has basketball going for it- they have the NBA, and a slew of players wear their shoes.

The only thing good Under Armour has is exactly what the name describes- spandex that goes under your football pads.  They have great cold gear for the outdoors, but let's not pretend that Under Armour is superior to Adidas.

I'm not advocating either way. But Adidas contract is expiring with the NBA in the next two years I believe and they have already informed the NBA that they will basically be walking away once it does. I'm not sure what's going on with them but this seems extremely odd not to go after a renewal for a league that just signed an insane TV contract.

Steph curry would disagree with under armour not making basketball shoes. And ugly alternates? Have you seen ohio states crap? Alternates are signed off on by the school.

Just like the Tigers manager, I feel that whoever wins the bid will just piss everyone off all over again...maybe I'm just a cynic

An Adidas spokesman confirmed its bid, which included a giant banner welcoming Michigan representatives to the company's North American headquarters in Portland.

Not to be outdone, Nike painted a field at the center of its Washington County campus to resemble Michigan's football field. The company also hung a building-sized banner on its recreation center with Michigan's "Go Blue" slogan. A Nike spokesman confirmed the company hosted the university, "as we do many athletes, teams and leagues on a regular basis."

Under Armour also appears to be bidding on the deal. A photo on social media shows a hallway, presumably at the company's Baltimore headquarters, with a large banner welcoming Michigan.

Where does it say it's down to Nike and Adidas?

I just don't see any chance of Michigan staying with adidas.

Hackett surveying the athletes who all seem to want Nike is what makes it an obvious decision.

These kind of actions represent more of the "little brother" persona than the "big brother" persona. If anything we should be doing whatever the heck we want because we are "big brother", and if "little brother" has a problem with it then let them be the ones to change to further disassociate themselves with "big brother."

Are you insane? I was almost legal working age when I joined the site back in 2009.

I'm almost 20. I was presented with a working permit by my parents on my 15th birthday and I've been paying for all of my stuff since.

I bought a couple jerseys on sale at MGoBlue last week -- including a home Desmond Howard and throwback Glenn Rice.

MGoQuestion: Do you know of a good company that will stitch names on the back?

Thanks

I think Hackett had been on record as saying (in less words) that money won't determine if we stay or change. Given that Nike is unquestionably the leader in sports apparel among teens (the kids we're recruiting) I think there is zero chance we stick with Adidas. Hackett knows the money lost (Adidas will offer more) is more than made up for in reputation & sales of product. I still only wear my old Nike UM gear. So, yeah, I need this so I can update my UM wardrobe lol. Adidas has price that they cannot make a quality product. From torn jerseys to terrible merch, they've had enough chances. They even admit to losing money on the ND deal & the current UM deal. They're supposedly yet to post a year in in the black with us or any other CFB venture (numbers from 2012, admittedly). Even with a product made for pennies on the dollar & sold for many dollars they have yet to make their money back in any one year as of 2012. Maybe that's more to do with our record and other sports they supply? They need to get out and focus on other sports, IMO. I think we're a Nike school again and it's public by the time the season is half over (at the latest).

I'm not quite so firm on not wearing Adidas (though I do enjoy my 1993 Nike Shooting Shirt) Hackett pretty much has to close the door on an era.

This would mean either Nike or UA...probably Nike if I had to guess. That said, as a Temple alumni I would be all about the UA...quality and well designed.

I've already said it doesn't matter that much to me. What would be ironic would be if some of the Nike lovers/Adidas haters on the board did a flip flop by this time two or three years from now.
