Michigan switching apparel?

Submitted by VaUMWolverine on
A sports apparel business where I live (in Va) is selling all Michigan gear at 50% off. He's telling everyone Michigan is getting ready to move from Adidas. Any truth to this? Have I been living in a cave?

No...the last time the issue came up, brandin said we honor our contracts... The reseller probably is dumping merchandise for new adidas stuff

I can't imagine this is anything but an arival of spring or summer gear vs. the winter apparal. Our contract with Adidas goes through 2016 so I doubt we'd break that for no good reason.

I mean, I wouldn't be opposed...but the fact that Adidadidisas pays UM a metric shit ton of money is part of why we can have nice things. Also the Adadaidias stuff doesn't bother me nearly as much as some people.

Not sure when our contract with them is up, but I think it's at least another year or two. Personally I hope we go back to Nike when the time comes, but whoever ponies up the most cash will most likely win out. So...not Nike.

If you check out M Den, it looks as though a lot of new stuff is coming in. Most likely just a change of season.

I hate "sun."  And how has the team done since we signed the Adidas deal anyway?  I believe the contract was signed less than two months before App. St.  I think it's safe to conclude our football woes are the fault of Adidas.  Last time we wore Nike, we played in the Rose Bowl and the game before that we were possibly a personal foul away from playing in the Title game.

Think about it.

except in very VERY rare cases.  This is not one of them - it has to have an exclusive market implication as to a product or brand.  And even if it was, there is no way that Nike could own the trademark...  if anyone owned it it would be the University, since the color is associated with the athletic department and existed many years before Nike existed.   If suckiness in uniform design could be trademarked, however, I am pretty sure Adidas would hold the rights.

The current contract runs through 2016 and is valued at nearly 8.2 million. Now, would I like to see it? YES! Under Armour or Nike please.
