Michigan switching apparel?
Two MGoPoints for you, sir.
No...the last time the issue came up, brandin said we honor our contracts... The reseller probably is dumping merchandise for new adidas stuff
Shouldn't Dave Brandon be the one commenting?
David Branding, you mean.
I can't imagine this is anything but an arival of spring or summer gear vs. the winter apparal. Our contract with Adidas goes through 2016 so I doubt we'd break that for no good reason.
Needs some cash for his expensive spring break trip.
Also, how do you tell when a salesman is lying?

His lips are moving!

I mean, I wouldn't be opposed...but the fact that Adidadidisas pays UM a metric shit ton of money is part of why we can have nice things. Also the Adadaidias stuff doesn't bother me nearly as much as some people.
"Adidadidisas "
"Adadaidias"
Intentional? Funny, either way.
Just remember "All Day I Dream About Sex".
Not sure when our contract with them is up, but I think it's at least another year or two. Personally I hope we go back to Nike when the time comes, but whoever ponies up the most cash will most likely win out. So...not Nike.
No. Now go back to sleep.
If you check out M Den, it looks as though a lot of new stuff is coming in. Most likely just a change of season.
Russell Athletic is making a major push into expanding their college base
I heard Pony was planning on making a huge offer.
..
Ha you guys are thinking small time... Michigans selling all apparel rights to Li Ning. They more than doubled the Adidas deal
I bet we to with Victoria's Secret Pink.
I wish. Oh well. We'll see what Adidas brings in the next couple of years.
We're switching to Puma
The way we've been playing...maybe some Pro-Keds or Voit would suffice.
British Knights?
Light-up cleats UNDER THE LIGHTS!!!1!!!1!
I thought those were LA Gear's?
Son of a bitch. Now I can't remember but I think it was both.
We definitely have to go with Lottos. The only way to do it these days.
For those that don't remember, link! https://www.google.com/#q=lottos+shoes&tbm=shop
Actually like to see Puma. Would be a huge splash if we were their first college football team.
I love Puma apparel.
Before the days of shoe companies outfitting entire athletic departments, Michigan wore Puma and a host of other shoe brands.
Did you know puma was started by adidas's brother ?

Not a basketball fan?
I hate "sun." And how has the team done since we signed the Adidas deal anyway? I believe the contract was signed less than two months before App. St. I think it's safe to conclude our football woes are the fault of Adidas. Last time we wore Nike, we played in the Rose Bowl and the game before that we were possibly a personal foul away from playing in the Title game.
Think about it.
/s (aside from the maize/sun comments)
Our basketball team has done quite well actually.
Nike has it trademarked somehow. I think TomVH or Mike Rothstein explained it one time when they covered Michigan for ESPN. Nike owns the name of the color, and the primary pigments for it or something like that.
but in attributing Michigan's pre-2007 success to Nike, I was pulling for a return to Nike and their trademarked Maize. Nike = wins, B1G championships, and Rose Bowls, obvs. Plus, their uniformz aren't as bad as Adidas (not saying I'm a fan of them or anything).
why Michigan didn't at least put up a fight. I'm curious if Nike has other colors trademarked, like North Carolina's Carolina Blue, for instance.
except in very VERY rare cases. This is not one of them - it has to have an exclusive market implication as to a product or brand. And even if it was, there is no way that Nike could own the trademark... if anyone owned it it would be the University, since the color is associated with the athletic department and existed many years before Nike existed. If suckiness in uniform design could be trademarked, however, I am pretty sure Adidas would hold the rights.
Last time we wore Nike we beat Florida. Wore through 2007 season.
But, when we DID start donning Adidas, we had two losing seasons in a row and got in hot water with the NCAA for extra practice. My theory still stands.
we lost to App State. Let's ask Nike to not be our sponsor this year at all costs
the bright yellow is awesome..visually from a tv perspective it stands out and u can always see the Michigan crowd and the maize outs with yellow pom poms looks awesome
based on the existing contract, talks for the next contract start this september.
The current contract runs through 2016 and is valued at nearly 8.2 million. Now, would I like to see it? YES! Under Armour or Nike please.
As I recall, it is indeed the 2016-17 season and I believe Dave Brandon has mentioned repeatedly that there is no intention right now of an early exit from the Adidas contract, although I would dare say that it isn't so much about the product as the terms of the contract. In any case, the fan in me does admittedly miss the Nike uniforms, but we won't know much about the direction of the department for a while.
K-Swiss here we come!
Is AND1 still a thing?
Vision all the way
Wal Mart basically owns AND1 now
Good thing I care very little for both of them.
then British Knights.
If were start wearing BK Light Ups we can haz all the rekroots!
Whoa nelly....Carr? I thought it was RR on Martins watch.
and white jersey woth piping design were all chosen by Carr. RR was blamed for changing everything - but this one was a Carr decision.
FUBU...
FUBU's market share is expanding in the SWAC.
Starter or Pro Player
I'd guess this is similar to GVSU's big sale of old merch every spring. It's odd that this guy is apparently telling everybody that Michigan is going away from Adidas, but he's probably just straight up wrong. It isn't impossible that they are going with a new company, though.
Did Starter just flat go out of business or did someone take them over?
When I make a list in my head about what Michigan athletics needs right now, "more satin jackets" takes up most of the top-10 spots.
I saw Brady wearing airwalks at Sears...
Just saying
Was he sportin' some super-wide JNCOs, too?
No, he was sporting Lee PIPES.
I wish it were Soap's
I'd love to see under armour. I don't like a lot of their uniforms but love some of their cleats and their non team related apparel. Michigan won't let anybody touch the classic Michigan football look so I see no negatives in going to them. honestly it would help recruiting, that or Nike again. it would actually factor into my college decision if I were a basketball player. sounds dumb but I would want to go to a Jordan sponsored school.

So that wasn't UM who approved the bumblebee clowniforms?
Amen to clowniforms. They looked ridiculous. So does the M above everyones name. I fukking hate it.
Didn't ND sign with UA because they wanted to be the biggest brand for their clothing company and had a contract that warranted that? I doubt UM will go for less money than ND and therefore I doubt that UM will sign with UA. My bet is they re sign with adidas for more money than the current contract unless nike comes with a better/similar offer... wich I don't see them doing.
Yeah, have you ever seen under armour basketball shoes? Embarrassing. Like plastic junk, even worse than Nike.
I want some deals
Nike please. Thank You.
Fila?????
Finally!
Dockers! Pants, pants, pants.
You said a whole sentance and were not negged. How come nobody mentioned Under Armor?
EDIT- Thank you, All in Time
You heard it here first.
...Tretorn
That's what happens when your buyer, in August 2013, says "more Rawls and Furman Jerseys, STAT!"
...is so money then why can't we manufacture our own brand? Fuck the the corporate shit form Nike, Adidas, etc. At the very least, couldn't we find a local Michigan manufacturer for jerseys and shoes? If the U puts their muscle behind it that could launch a brand. Set up shop in Detroit and pay a decent wage. Why not? This is the kind of progressive thinking we need.
Having said that, if Michigan must sport the logo of a major existing brand, then I'd vote for a partnership with Ralph Lauren. He may not be noted for his sports gear (in spite of outfitting the US Olympic teams, Wimbledon, etc) but would certainly do a better job of respecting & interpreting tradition than any of the "unifomz" bullshit from other manufacturers.
That'd be a great way to lose millions of dollars.
If the store owner is just marking down the merch now, that would mean he expects new merch quite soon. I'm not familiar w Nike's lead times, but this stuff would have to have been in development and production for probably a year. It seems like we would have heard about this unless m kept it double super secret
I just heard from a close friend whose cousin married a former manufacturers rep who was at a midwest convention with his uncle and....oh, hell with it, they're gonna play football naked up in AA this Fall. And, now you know.
How about the Duluth Trading Company? They seem to be a very innovative company with their, Ballroom Jeans and Free Swingin' Flannels. Imagine the possibilities....
Calvin Klein
Think about the pants. Pants!
Those were awesome. You could never really fit anything in the pocket but it was still cool to zip it up.
Dickies!
Puma has been putting out some BA clothes for years
